Pick For Me Challenge - June 2017
Leslie wrote: "Fabi, if you ever get me, I will let you pick a PNR for me. I have a special paper list of PNRs to try from all the recs you guys gave."Oh man - that would be awesomely incredible.
But no Robin. I won't cheat. Sheesh! Have a little faith.
Leslie wrote: "Ok Fabi, I panicked momentarily. "No worries Leslie. My Pick For Me list frightens me too. LOL!
I CAN NOT WAIT to read Watching and Wanting. I've seen several reviewers comment on how HAWT it is.
You done good. ;-)
Fabi wrote: "We may have to PM Kate since she hasn't popped in lately." Fabi - I dropped her a message
Lisa, Fabi picked Rush for Grey. I have already read and loved it. Ela picked KA's Heaven and Hell for me.
Paula wrote: "Fabi wrote: "We may have to PM Kate since she hasn't popped in lately." Fabi - I dropped her a message"Thanks Paula.
Fabi--I was looking at #Junkie. I don't even read m/m, and it looked good to me! But over 500 pages? Wow!Leslie and bev--if y'all are joining the A Stone in the Sea BR, will you come to that thread and chime in on a start date?? (And anyone else who wants to BR with us). In case you missed it, some of us are using it for our bev challenge June book.
Paula wrote: "Loved Heaven and Hell...sigh"Yep - just before dinner - just about to mark it as read - 3* - nothing special but kept me reading
Fabi wrote: "welp, GR seems to think so:"Your tastes are 72% similar for the books you both rated. Here are 97 books you have in common""
Funny thing is, most are TBR's or read by you and not me or vice versa! At least we both loved Wolfsong and The Others.
Paula wrote: "Paula wrote: "Loved Heaven and Hell...sigh"Yep - just before dinner - just about to mark it as read - 3* - nothing special but kept me reading"
Hmmm, not very encouraging. Was it because of editing? or was it just meh? or was the writing not great? Anything in particular that made you give it 3?
Paula wrote: "Kate - I had to pick this - it has so many feels - I compare all my "feels" books on it. It is set in the UK (don't think there is too much Brit lingo in the book). The film was brilliant - can not..."Squeeee....that book!!! That movie!! I read the second book, and it was okay for me, but nothing like the first one. I have to be honest, when the movie came out, I went to see it, and then I went to see it like 10 more times. I'd sneak out of work early, or go off on an "errand". Then I purchased it and made my husband watch it with me. He's a really tough grumpy bastard (who has a very deeply hidden soft side), and he even shed a few tears.
Renee - not the writing - I tend to be someone that can overlook that easily and it doesn't bother me. Just felt the story wasn't anything new - the kids were cute. The mystery element was a bit rubbish tbh
Lisa wrote: "Paula wrote: "Kate - I had to pick this - it has so many feels - I compare all my "feels" books on it. It is set in the UK (don't think there is too much Brit lingo in the book). The film was brill..."Yeah, that's most likely a whole new level of torturing thy self!

I know Ela. I doubt I have many books in common with anyone here. :-(
Now I feel like I'm intruding and should leave. :-(
Lisa - love that book - haven't read anything else by the author coz of that one. I downloaded the film and purchased it too! May have to put it on at the weekend and pretend to the other half that it is not a chic flick! Worked at getting him to the cinema for One Day so think he may not be tricked!

Fabi WTH? Intruding? Leave? Don't make me jump on top of you and hold you down and lick your face to show you how much we adore you...cuz I'll do it. Just ask Ela!!!
Tessa--if you're around, can you post in the Stone in the Sea BR thread when you'd be able to start?

Fabi... Uh... I'll be honest. I've only read one on that list, but there are a ton on my TBR id make you read. And are read books mesh. So, go with dark or fantasy for Niki?
Fabi wrote: "Alright Grey - it has to be
for you in June. It sounds right up your angst alley and 24 of my GR friends have rated it 4-5 stars!!!
Hope you enjoy it!"
YAY! I'm excited... but since, I think I know that you're also eyeballing Bad Things by Varian Krylov on my list.... I'm going to read that one too ;) mwah!

Nope sorry Lisa..I didn't like Opposite of you that much. Should I give Ela a choice between pnr or contemporary romance???
Tessa wrote: "Dang, I don't know which I want to pick for Niki, Corrupt or The Iron King. Both were insanely good for totally opposite reasons. :)"
Corrupt!! Come on, Tessa, you know you wanna!

YUP! LISA. WILL. DO. IT. AND HER SLOBBER ALL OVER YOU JUST THINK! *shudders*
Lisa wrote: "In my best Niki voice....Ela, you shall read The Opposite of You.Let's see if she falls for it!!!"
Um my little girl....I already read it
OMG LOL Lisa!!!Grey wrote: " I think I know that you're also eyeballing Bad Things by Varian Krylov on my list.... I'm going to read that one too ;) mwah! "
No, not at all Grey. That was one of the 3 of my 5-star ones you have on your list. I don't think you'd like it. I would never recommend that for you.
If it wasn't MM, Ela might like it since she reads quite a bid of "dark". ;-)
Ela wrote: "Lisa wrote: "In my best Niki voice....Ela, you shall read The Opposite of You.Let's see if she falls for it!!!"

Yeah, I was thinking--didn't we all BR that together? The BEARD and all? lol

Oh, what's dark??? If it's GOOD dark I'll even do M/M....remember WOLFSONG... Oh and Bad Things was just added to my Pick for Me!
Niki wrote: "Nope sorry Lisa..I didn't like Opposite of you that much. Should I give Ela a choice between pnr or contemporary romance???"
Your call but I would like to have you pick a book, no choices, which makes it all the more fun. I already made my choices when creating the list...
Ela wrote: "Oh, what's dark??? If it's GOOD dark I'll even do M/M....remember WOLFSONG... ."It's dark. Not The Tied Man or Life of Anna dark - but headed in that direction.
Comparing Wolfsong with Bad Things is like comparing Winnie the Pooh with Tempting the Beast by Lora Leigh
Ela wrote: "Lisa wrote: "In my best Niki voice....Ela, you shall read The Opposite of You.Let's see if she falls for it!!!"

Then get it off your damn pick for me list. It confused us old folks...shudder, the beatd!!!!
Niki wrote: "Nope sorry Lisa..I didn't like Opposite of you that much. Should I give Ela a choice between pnr or contemporary romance???"
Ela wrote: "Niki wrote: "Nope sorry Lisa..I didn't like Opposite of you that much.
Should I give Ela a choice between pnr or contemporary romance???"
Niki--Nope! I suggest picking something pnr, but if you want, just pick a book that either you really enjoyed or a book that you're anxious to see what someone else thinks of it.
Ok Ela, it was a tough choice for me but i am choosing
This book makes me happy just thinking about it!!
Grey wrote: "Tessa wrote: "Dang, I don't know which I want to pick for Niki, Corrupt or The Iron King. Both were insanely good for totally opposite reasons. :)"Corrupt!! Come on, Tessa, you know you wanna!"
Lol That's the Dark one I was thinking. At the same time, if I don't enforce The Iron King, who will?
Gotta go with my gut.
NIKI - CORRUPT BY PENELOPE DOUGLAS! The book gave me so many feels, and Damien is mine, k?
Ela, I pick
for you....oh...wait...I don't get to pick for your do I?
*underhanded subliminal hint strategy*
Tessa wrote: "Lol I need Ela next month. She still needs to Play with Monsters."Tessa--I knew either you or Grey were going to say that! ROFL I still have 10% left of this fricking fracking Seducing Destiny--and I figured out what about it is bugging me. I don't want to be too specific for those who haven't read the series, so I'l just say, there's too much standing around and saying 'how do we do this to heal that person' and too little action. All they do is whine and discuss. I'm just ready to be done with it!! Gah!
Then I'm doing these million BR's and then I'm reading Ristan's book
, because that's the one I really wanted to read before I read PWM to get any back story for (or just get to know) Lucian and/or Lena. And I lurve that PWM cover!
aww Fabi! tell me what other one you were debating pretty please!!!! I do love the angst, but this is all about having someone pick for me!
