Time to Vote for the June Tag

Oh, yes, depending on the month, sometimes a challenge I already know about can make a difference in my vote.

I vote a little of both. I'm not a fan of broad tags, because they don't stretch my reading as much, but I'd like to read from my shelf if possible. Fortunately, I often find something on my Shelf/iPad that fits the tag, no matter what it is. So I'm usually good with whatever gets chosen.

I'd like to add that in general my reading for PBT tags is only a tiny fraction of what I read. The majority of my reading is based on picking what I feel like reading or what I think I will enjoy in any particular moment. I see PBT as being unique in giving me an opportunity to explore the great diversity of genres and subject matter.

This is very much like me, as well. The only time I'd vote for a broad tag is if there is a very narrow (like "star wars"!) tag in the mix, as well. But with three to choose from, I'd always hope there would be a middle ground! Although, I still might vote for "star wars" over a year tag... hmmm, that's tough! Not a fan of poetry, but I would vote for it over a year tag! :-)

The monthly tag is a great opportunity to read books outside of our typical reading. But the better stretch was back when we used to play the games on Shelfari. I like the challenges we are doing right now, but those short term games were great for making you read books outside your comfort zone.

I have to admit that we have been short on games as of late, and it's definitely time. This past year has been incredibly busy for me, but I'm coming to the end of a two year term as grants co-chair for the Baltimore Women's Giving Circle. This position was super rewarding, but really cut into my free time. Add on top of it one off to college and one graduating college - - it's just been demanding! But my term ends by mid June, and I'm going to put my little used creative hat to come up with some game options!

Thank you - - I absolutely LOVED it and am sorry my term is coming to the end. I had an amazing committee of over 120 women, and the work was very, very rewarding. I'm really going to miss it. But it did use a lot of my free time, so I look forward to devoting some of that back to PBT!

Voted and y'all will be surprised that I didn't vote for paranormal romance, lol. But, I did vote for coming of age. I'll be happy with any of the tags, though.

I'm a mood reader, so I vote for the tags that I'm in the mood to read. I do like to stretch myself, but because I'm been in an epic reading slump since end of September 2015, I figure I just need to read books that sound enjoyable for now so I've been voting as such.

I'll read just about anything with words ... I don't think there's a genre I haven't tried ... well, maybe M-M ... oh, wait .. I just read Maurice ... That being said, I DO have preferences. Sadly, "literary fiction" isn't even on the top 300 list, so it will never make it to a vote.

Anyway, when I vote I usually look at what I HAVE to read for the next month's F2F book clubs and try to pick a tag that will let me count those books (or at least one). But I rarely add votes to the one freebie. Whatever the group's ultimate choice, I've always managed to read at least one book that fits the tag each month.

I vote for tags on what I hope I can manage to read during the next month. I don't vote for tags that will stretch me as I think I am a very eclectic reader anyway but I have so many challenges that I am in, I don't need one more to try to fill. I regret voting for 2004 because I have read so many that year and this will be the first time in a very long time that I will not get a book read for the tag. I am not voting this month. I've decided it is not fair to vote and then not read a book for that month. I will try to find something though because I do want to read something for the tag each month. I am going to let the group pick for me.

Ah - so it's your fault! (lLol). Actually, while I had first gone for a plays, then dark fantasy, I'm really glad it was 2004. Because I had the opportunity to read Thread of Grace, which was truly excellent. That's what I love about PBT. Because I'm often steered to something tremendous. And even with all my joking about Ireland, I was warned. More than enough of you told me, that I likely wouldn't like the choice I was reading. I really only did it, because nothing else at the time compelled, and I had to get the movie off of my DVR. Because as some of you know, I'm a huge TV watcher, and I need the space. So Ireland was my fault. Plus the stupid essay about eating children. I should have listened to Nicole through and through. Dropped Brooklyn, and went for Nora. Shards of glass, thrills of glass something. Anyway, consider these ramblings yet another love song to PBT. Currently loving Americanah, which it turns out is classified as coming of age. Maybe I won't tell you when I finish it. Bookclub is June 4.
