Team Reading Between the Wines

When you have a team name, just let me know and I'll update this thread name :)
First stop - Santa Cruz De La Palma (Spain)

Your first stop is Santa Cruz De La Palma, Spain
You can choose as a team to:
TASK
- Read books set in Spain, or by Spanish authors or
- Do a spell-it-out of Santa Cruz De La Palma or Spain
OR
You can elect to do the detour, which for this stop, means that four of you need to "Read a book that is in the "Best Unknown but must be Known books " Listopia List (https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...)"

I'm looking forward to this challenge.
I'm good with either a spell-it-out challenge or the task based on Spanish books/authors. Let me know what you want to do.

I'm happy with the spell it out or I also have some books on the detour list to read.
How do we want to keep track of it all? I've seen some other teams use extra pages on the google spreadsheet set up by the mods which looks like a good idea.

I love, love, love 'Reading Between the Wines'. It gave me a good giggle when I read that.

I am Melinda from Hungary. I am an avid reader and like challenges, but at the same time happy to go with the flow and read books for fun. I don't have any books about Spain/ by Spanish authors, but I am good for the spell it out.

I live in Alberta Canada. so nice to meet you all and look forward to finding new books and authors.
I read all kinds of books and I seem to be either reading or listening to a book.

Michelle and I are the only ones who have said anything about it. What say you? That one is my favorite out of all of..."
I like Global Booking better, but happy to go with the "Wines" as well. :)

Can a book I started reading yesterday (13 May, Saturday in my timezone) be counted for this challenge?

I'm mainly here to diversify my reading and have fun!
As for the name of our team, I really like Reading between the wines :)
For this stop I'd be fine with either a spell it out or Spanish authors oooor the detour.
But it seems as if the majority is more into the spell it out. If we do the spell it out though are we doing Spain or santa de la cruz?
Updated the detour spreadsheet too!

My name is Lucy, and I'm from Maryland in the U.S. I'm okay with whatever the group name is, they were all very cute.
As for the reading challenge, I think I prefer Spell it out, but I think I might have a book from Spain somewhere. I like challenges but I'm also content with doing this for fun, it's been awhile since I've done my last team challenge so I'm content with enjoying it.
If we are doing the spell it out, I will be reading:
City: D A Darker Shade of Magic or C A Court of Wings and Ruin
Country: S Salt to the Sea or P Passenger
Just decide and I'll plan accordingly.

if we do Country then 2 people would take a pass for this week.
if we read books set in Spain or by a Spainish author then everyone reads one book.
Am I correct in this logic?
I am fine with playing either for fun or competively.

If we are doing the SPAIN spellout
The Last Camellia for author letter S
If we are doing Santa Cruz De La Palma
The Last Camellia for author letter S or title L
2 I have already started - can they be used? I started them last night.
Ghosts of Tsavo for author letter E
Curse of the Purple Delhi Sapphire for author letter S or R or title letter C
If we are doing the Spanish author task I can find something at the library....

For detour 3 & 7 (pages add up to 6 & audio narrated by author) I looked for books that fit this criteria but I couldn't find them yet. And I work a double today, tomorrow, and the late shift on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I'll look through my to-reads list again and see if I can find the books that fit this criteria.
Happy Reading Everyone!
P.S. I already started reading Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys just in case I might not be on here to update yall for the next two days.

This is my first time playing at NBRC so I may need help along the way. lol

If we can ignore the THE I could use it for either spell outs too.

I'm about to start A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron
I'm not sure what the main characters name is in this yet but will let you know if it could go for any of the other letters instead once I start reading.

I don't mind if we just do it for fun or competitive.

I will add the characters later today for my 2 books. I am off to do some study now.

I have just finished Den of Shadows by Christopher Byford
I will definitely read The Hidden Icon: Book of Icons - Volume One by the end of the week and I can also tackle a 3rd book The Case of the Deadly Toy by Erle Stanley Gardner. I will put it to the spreadsheet as well.

Cecily -
Julia -
Lucy -
Melanie -
Melindam - 3
Michelle -
Rosina -
Twist - 4 or more"

Can anybody explain the third spread sheet to me real quick? Do I just put the books in once? So for example I put in book (2) into the S row for the book title column. Should I put it into another column that fits (for example the L row for the authors name column)?
I apologize in advance for any grammar mistakes by the way!

Ah ok, thank you!

Based on this week and the length of the books listed above:
This week I grabbed an extra shift at work so I can guarantee one book. most likely two books.
But I would say my average is 2 or 3 books a week.

Not too sure how we can do this without doubling up on titles.

I was under the impression we could make the time between stops as long or as short as we like and didn't have to stick with just a week.
I won't be able to have set start and finish days for books as I run a business and have two young kids I juggle around that so reading is my escape when everyone is in bed at night. That's why challenges are more for the fun for me because sometimes I'll get to plow through a book in a couple of days but then if work and kids get too much it may take me a week.

Im only new to team challenges too and I don't want to either slack off nor step on toes. lol
Thank you for taking leadership Twist, I am happy to help in any way I can too.

Yes, there is a character named "Antares". I have yet to see if there is anyone with names U / Z. I have updated the characters-spreadsheet with some names from Hidden Icon.

I'm just going to post things on here so I don't double post on the spreadsheet.
