Romanticbookworm | 43 comments I have read a couple of Agatha Christie but not And Then There Were None yet but it sounds good as does Dark Matter.

Thanks anyway Perri.

I suppose I could always try and read both or just pick one and try and read the other next month as don't want to put myself under too much pressure. will see what happens at the end of the month :)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments So so sorry I'm late guys. I posted about half votes and will post the rest when I wake up.
Please forgive me. Don't know if they will have any effect. Dana it was a hard sell. I also wanted to pick Anne, Salt and I hear Unbroken is incredible.

No worries Amy, we know life can get crazy sometimes ;-)

message 106: by Dana (new)

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 623 comments Thanks Amy! You made Cinder a tie for first, so I will definitely be reading that for our buddy read.

I am still trying to finish my May read - Memoirs of a Geisha. OMG i don't think I've ever spent so much time on a book...

message 107: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments I"m in for Cinder too. Have it on deck for June :)

Sorry for complaining. I forgot you were going on vacation.

message 109: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments I had a dream/nightmare about Bird Box last night!

message 110: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis Perri! No kidding! That was was so eerie!

message 111: by Ann (last edited May 28, 2017 11:54PM) (new)

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments I started LaRose _(a clear winner for this month). It's a lovely, lovely book - I'm so happy to be reading it - I keep thinking about it during the day ...

message 112: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (penn_y_lane) | 547 comments It's been a hectic week for me and I've not had chance to read much, i haven't even started my May book and have loads of library books to read too! We had friends visiting for the weekend but they have gone now and its a bank holiday, so as its going to rain most of the day (so no gardening) I am planning to read :-)

I can relate. An elderly member of my BBF's family has been back and forth to the hospital. I having been handling the phones with the updates so can't seem to concentrate on my reading. Tomorrow, come hell or high water, I am reading.

message 114: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 1126 comments Bird Box was such a bizarre book, I'm not surprised you had dreams/nightmares about it, Perri. I'm really glad I read it though, I found it unsettling but in a good way, like all good horrors should!

I've been trying to find more time to read over this bank holiday weekend as I've been horribly negligent lately. The epic storm in SE England last night kept me awake until about 3am so I got through the lame kindle unlimited romance I was reading (thank god it was free) and am now waiting for my daughter to go off and spend the day with her dad so that I can sink my teeth into my June winner early, which I think is going to be The Secret of Spellshadow Manor :)

I hate it when I don't get chance to read for a few days. I maybe shouldn't be reading so many books at one time either. Anyway I've read for a couple of hours this afternoon and hope to do a bit more tonight :-)

Loved Birdbox was one of my favs the year I read it. I always find it scarier when you don't know what it is that's scaring you! As soon as I see the 'monster' in movies it becomes boring (mostly).

message 117: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Not reading for a few days - help how can you survive it at all? I get the first signs of withdrawal after half a day ;-) That's why I have a book lying next to the loo - one of the best places to read (in peace)!

message 118: by Perri (last edited May 29, 2017 05:47PM) (new)

Perri | -43 comments Wow , What a ride! and thanks for the vote!

message 119: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments No apologies necessary, Patricia! I've had a lot going on. Not even vacation stuff. I'll explain later as to not be elusive. Just life dumps, yanno? Road block upon road block. I just keep trying to think, things could always be worse. Things could be worse. Things could be worse. This I know for sure. Lol As long as you've got your health right. And people to love.

message 120: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments I'm with ya', Dana! Since I forgot my All The Light We Cannot See book on my work trip to BC, I picked my other one back up that I was finding slow. I feel so sad since it was one I wanted to read forever. Now that I'm finally over halfway through, it's picked up though. I can't wait to get to my May book because I know that will kill the reading slump. Angela Marsons, you're almost up!

I may miss the Cinder read. Insert sad face here. I won't be home until my trip and that's where the copy is that I got for Xmas. It's a giant book so I don't know if I'll bring it on trip. But you never know. I usually pack everything but the kitchen sink and need only half of it lol

message 121: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments So glad you liked Bird Box so much, Perri! That ones been on my radar since Sophie really liked it last year. Sounds really scary to give a nightmare!

Mandy, I am also so behind lately. I can't wait to be home in my own bed for even a few days before trip. I get to read more at home for sure.

So glad you're enjoying La Rose, Ann! It had such an interesting premise. Sheesh!

message 122: by Aesaan (last edited May 30, 2017 12:43AM) (new)

Aesaan (highlycaffeinatedreader) | 163 comments I'm definitely checking out Bird Box after I finish with my June reads.

message 123: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments I just finished a great book Turn On the Light So I Can Hearand wanted to recommend it to you. It's something different (no thrill, mystery or suspense) though I still could immagine some of you could like it. Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

message 126: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Thanks to Amy's vote the tie for the 2nd winner is broken so I'll read next month Buried (Bone Secrets, #3) by Kendra Elliot & A Spy Came Home by H.N. Wake

message 127: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) You'll love A Spy Came Home... I just wish something like that'd happen in the US for real!

Yes Amy has broken my tie as well and I will be reading Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King

message 129: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis @Mandy
YEEEESSS! So glad that won for you. I loved that one. Dark, dark stuff.

message 130: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Huh, I'm surprised I didn't vote for the S. King book. I haven't heard of it, need to add it to my list. Vicki, it's four stories?

message 131: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis Yes, four longer short stories.
Each one was excellent. So scary, evil, dark. I listened to it on audible and the dogs got extra long walks each night.

message 133: by Aesaan (last edited May 30, 2017 05:13PM) (new)

Aesaan (highlycaffeinatedreader) | 163 comments Me as well with And Then There Were None, will be my first Agatha Christie mystery followed by Dark Matter since I've been suggested to read both.

#overexcited
Thanks everyone for votes :)

message 134: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments You won't be disappointed in Mrs. Christie, Aesaan!

And yes, that Stephen King sounds great. I added it too. I had never heard of it and I loved his Nightmares & Dreamscapes years ago.

Looks like our own David Staniforth's title is up for me. Imperfect strangers won this month. Bought it a few months ago and have been so stupidly slow getting to this or Void. I heard they are both four and five star.

message 135: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments My winner is Close Your Eyes by Michael Robotham. This will be my first book by him. It has great reviews.

message 137: by Rich (new)

Rich | 164 comments I wonder about something I saw in the page read total section. Someone read 41 books in May for over 16,000 pages.some of these books were over 500 pages in a day. I don't see how it is humanly possible

message 138: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Maybe it was just the total books since last time posted?

HI Sue, welcome! June's fun is done and we're on to July. We're a forward thinking group!. So find the July PIFM thread and list 5-10 books you want to read and the group will vote on the one we want you to read in the July selection thread. Make sense? It was confusing for all of us at first!

message 145: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Yeah, Sue... put all the books on the same post in the thread too. Or, else, you'll confuse old people like me!

message 146: by Sue (new)

Sue Phillips | 40 comments Old people? So am I!!!
