I just finished this book earlier this week, and thought it was pretty interesting, but had some questions about the many plot twists, turns, and meanderings. Then, this evening, as I was surfing the Longform website, I happened upon this Texas Monthly article by Pamela Colloff, "A Kiss Before Dying", which sounded really interesting...and really familiar! I did a little basic web research and couldn't find any information about the book being based on a true story, but it can't be a coincidence...right? Anyway, I know it's hardly uncommon for authors to be inspired by real-life events (the victim's cousin actually wrote his own account of that time period, Washed in the Blood) but I am mostly wondering if anyone else had noticed this -- I thought the timing on my end was a little bit creepy!
