Dodau | 17 comments Ok this is a long shot. About 20 years ago I read what was possibly a short story. In it because the universe is expanding all the distances between places were expanding too, hence travel was getting harder and society was reverting to small village like.
Although i think i read it in the 80s or 90 it may well have been an older author because once i got an adult library ticket i worked my way through a lot of classic authors.
Sorry like i said a real long shot

Is it set on earth (are places expanding on earth) or some other part of the universe?

Koji | 11 comments It sounds like it could be from Italo Calvino's cosmicomics or t-zero.

Dodau, are you still looking for this or did you find it?

message 7: by Dodau (new)

Dodau | 17 comments Sorry, yes I am still looking for this. It's not either of the above. I'm thinking it was in a book of short stories by one of the older authors, Bradbury, Heinlein, someone like that. It was set on earth and the distances between towns and cities was expanding but nothing else. People and buildings etc were staying the same. Things were returning to a more simple way of life because of the difficulties of travelling the longer distances.
