Bec (_becandbooks) | 473 comments Okay, I haven't updated my insane reading adventures lately so here I am.

I still haven't finished My Absolute Darling because I absolutely suck. Guys, don't judge this book poorly by how long it's taking me to read. *pats book spine* It's not you, it's me.

Still rocking out with my rooster *cough* out with Regsly and Ilsen on our City of Ashes BR.

Deep Space Accountant is still going. Because at one time I may have needed an ebook and I may have accidentally started a new one. (GUYS I KNOOOOOOW, I HAVE ISSUES)

Which brings me to The Chimera Vector. This is actually a reread and if you haven't checked out Nathan's books before I HIGHLY recommend. He is a stupendously good Aussie author. Starting because I got ALL HIS CURRENT WORKS (and a mention in his latest Helix episode *squeals*) through his recent Patreon.

I've got Start Here: Read Your Way Into 25 Amazing Authors still sitting opened on my Kindle as well (OKAY I realise I reaalllllly didn't need to start another ebook - I made a mistake)

My current physical book is The Female of the Species because who the hell knows why I haven't read this yet. I'm nearly finished and it's amazing as everyone as already said.

AND *catches breath from so much exhaustive talking* my current audiobook is Swing Time by the gorgeous Zadie Smith. Once again I am incredibly behind on some incredible books and authors. This book is beautiful and I'm only halfway through (I admit I've tweeted @ZadieSmith at LEAST 3 times since I started this audio)

OHHHHH and I forgot. I am about to start the ARC Children of Daedala. Book people, this cover is gorgeous!

The Female of the Species is my absolute favorite book!! I absolutely love it!!

I'm currently reading City of Ashes with Becca and Regsly. I'm behind because college.

Cinder for the BOTM for this group. It's pretty good and I'm not behind. Woo hoo!!

Thirteen Rising by Romina Russell is so good! I'm literally almost done but I haven't had time to read for myself. I'm hoping I'll have time this weekend :(

I finished and I loved it! It gets SO INTENSE at the end. Still crying inside 3 days later. Really need to write the review.

Unpopular opinion time: I never got into the Lunar Chronicles and while I'm enjoying TMI I'm not LOVING them the way people have hyped them...

I'm still hopeful because I strangely only own one of the Dark Artifices books and it's so pretty and I am determined to love it and therefore the rest of the Chronicles.

I agree. I really liked it, but I didn't extremely love it.
The book series that I really love is the Throne of Glass series.
For some reason, I didn't like The Dark Artifices more than The Mortal Instruments

How was [book:Every Heart a Doorway|25526296]?! I keep seeing raving reviews for it everywhere and need to get my hands on it. I'm kinda jealous of the super nice set of books you've got sitting there.

message 111: by Bec (new)

Bec (_becandbooks) | 473 comments Okay so update time!

I have officially put My Absolute Darling on the back burner because I just got a bunch of books and I want to focus on the new release stuff for my blog. I truly am LOVING this book but I'm just finding it so hard to read quickly.

Also The Chimera Vector is just a backup ebook for now because priorities and this is also a reread for me (even though I have plans to read ALL the books he's got so far because they are amazing)

My currently reading list isn't that bad atm, but my next reads list??????? Oh dear.

Okay so after back burner books my currently reading list is:

Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu
Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson - audiobook
Everless (Untitled #1) by Sara Holland - ARC

These are all amazing. I haven't read Marie Lu before (I KNOOOOOOW, I MADE A MISTAKE), Allegedly is soooo jarring and raw and the narration is amazing, and Everless is seriously making me want to heavily get back into fantasy again. I'm thinking these are all going to be minimum 4 stars.

What about the next reads list? Okay, I'm not going to elaborate too much because of character limits so here's a list.

Library books
The Unwritten, Vol. 1 Tommy Taylor and the Bogus Identity by Mike Carey The Unwritten, Vol. 2 Inside Man by Mike Carey The Unwritten, Vol. 3 Dead Man's Knock by Mike Carey Paper Princess (The Royals, #1) by Erin Watt Prodigy (Legend, #2) by Marie Lu

Book haul
Untidy Towns by Kate O'Donnell All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater Begin, End, Begin A #LoveOzYA Anthology by Danielle Binks Children of Icarus by Caighlan Smith

Others
Replica (Replica, #1) by Lauren Oliver Ringer (Replica, #2) by Lauren Oliver Saga, Vol. 7 (Saga, #7) by Brian K. Vaughan The Collected Poems of Oscar Wilde by Oscar Wilde City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare

So yeah, if you don't see me on here you now know why

message 112: by Bec (new)

Bec (_becandbooks) | 473 comments How is everyone going? Seems a little quiet around here - I miss the chatter.

Just my updates; since last time I've finished:

Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu (great great great - for sure reading the next book)
Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson (this book is so intense and amazing)
Everless (Untitled #1) by Sara Holland (<3<3<3<3<3<3 This book hasn't even been released and I WANT THE SEQUEL!)
All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater (Okay, unpopular opinon time: didn't love it much)

I'm currently reading:
Indigo Blue by Jessica Watson (can't figure out the audience for this book? It's highschool seniors but middle-school writing)
The Unwritten, Vol. 1 Tommy Taylor and the Bogus Identity by Mike Carey
Trusting You and Other Lies by Nicole Williams

Next up is:
Untidy Towns by Kate O'Donnell (starting this Aussie new release straight away!)
Origin (Robert Langdon, #5) by Dan Brown (I got the audio on OverDrive! WOO)

Everything else I dunno what order it's happening in.

message 113: by Bec (new)

Bec (_becandbooks) | 473 comments Okay seriously someone needs to come in and start talking about what they are reading because this is turning into

"Becca's book updates"

and nothing else.

Anywho. Updates from last time: I finished
Indigo Blue by Jessica Watson (mermaids <3)
Trusting You and Other Lies by Nicole Williams (MEH)
Untidy Towns by Kate O'Donnell (ultra lovely)
Origin (Robert Langdon, #5) by Dan Brown (exactly what you expected and no shame)

I DNF'd The Unwritten, Vol. 1 Tommy Taylor and the Bogus Identity by Mike Carey - couldn't get into it.

I read The Princess Saves Herself in this One by Amanda Lovelace in between (so-so; loved bits, not so much other bits)

And now I am starting Turtles All the Way Down by John Green The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur & City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare

That's it. Someone come and join me before I take over the thread p l e a s e

There's actually podfics, so I can do whatever I have/need to, while being entertained. Crazy xD not only audiobooks anymore!
Weeeell, once I watched Yuri On Ice, everything was lost. Such a healthy relationship and I do love figure skating <3

Aside from the ffs, a friend of mine is always finding webcomics and I get lost in those too. She even found this one for me about a junior figure skating champion who has to join a hockey team: http://checkpleasecomic.com/comic/01-...

There's also George & Johnny, On A Sunbean, some I'm not going to mention because they're for adults. Oh and I'm in the middle of Puu: https://tapas.io/episode/498251

Man I love art <3

Come back and let us know how you went! These are both books on my TBR that I haven't got to.

@Ilsen

Murder on the Orient Express is probably high in my favourite A.Christie books - how's it going? And I really enjoyed Mara Dyer; I read it as an audiobook ages ago. Been debating picking up The Becoming of Noah Shaw at some point.

message 134: by Bec (new)

Bec (_becandbooks) | 473 comments I'm doing super well controlling myself atm guys! Be proud of me!

So right this second I am reading

The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur (this is taking me forever to read and I think it's just cos I haven't had the mood for poetry lately)
Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1) by Kerri Maniscalco (audio; has been fun so far - super bad ass female lead)
Heartstopper by Alice Oseman (because I finally caved and redownloaded Tapas on my phone)

I just finished and need to review

Sadia by Colleen Nelson (awesome little POC YA ARC!)

And once I finish up the above next up is

Murder on the Orient Express is good but I kinda already know what is happening because I watched the movie before reading the book. But I do like the act of reading so I'm still going to read it. The movie was really good by the way!

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is good too but I'm taking a break right now to finish Murder on the Orient Express. But I'm enjoying it so far! I picked it up because I didn't have my current read on me and I really wanted to read XD Plus the author came to Book Fair so it was great timing! I might just read the whole Mara Dyer trilogy just to read The Becoming of Noah Shaw XD

@Becca

I've been wanting to read Stalking Jack the Ripper for a while. It's been on my shelf for a while.

I just read your review for Sadia! It sounds like such a fantastic read! I will definitely add it to my TBR!

I heard that Eliza and Her Monsters has awesome anxiety rep and it's super good and fangirly! I really want to read Made You Up before Eliza and Her Monsters!

message 139: by Eri (new)

Eri (bookishwonderland88) | 8 comments All I heard was good things but maybe it was just me. I'll give it another try in the new year. Simon is one of my all time favorites. I love it so much that this was not my first re-read of it. I read upside too which was pretty good. I'm looking forward to becky's new books.

I've read Upside of Unrequited as well and it was pretty good. But Simon is still my favorite. I'm planning on reading it a month before the new movie comes out! I hope you enjoy Shadow and Bone! It is especially fun with friends

message 141: by Bec (new)

Bec (_becandbooks) | 473 comments @Ilsen: I haven't seen the movie. I've been a bit meh since all the drama with Johnny Depp so I dunnnnnoooo.

But yes I thought Mara Dyer was just one of those series where all the books were really interesting. I wouldn't be able to pick a favourite out of the three.

We should buddy read Noah Shaw at some point!
