Claudette Melanson (cmelanson) | 5 comments Hi there,

My name is Claudette and I'm the author of a YA vampire series and a children's book. I've been trying to get books on Bookbub for over a year. I've seen books on there with less reviews or lower star ratings, so I'm unsure what I'm doing wrong. I have 166 reviews on the first book with 4.6 overall star rating. I just put the first book at perma free and would like to do a .99 promo with the second book. It has 35 reviews and a 4.7 overall. They all have original artwork on the covers.

Does anyone who was lucky enough to get a deal with them have any advice? It would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!

C

Claudette Melanson (cmelanson) | 5 comments Thanks! I will. I keep applying every month. I've tried Romantic Suspense too, but maybe someday soon they'll take me! Congrats on your deal :)

Harriet Pike | 2 comments Bookbud charges a high fee to post "deals." Have any authors experienced sufficient increases in sales to justify the expenditure?

Yes. Bookbub has the highest ROI of *any* advertiser. That's why they are so popular.

I know that they will not do the ad if your book has been on sale in the recent past. They told me that they want their customers to get the best deal and if you have it reduced before their ad, they won't accept it.

Claudette Melanson (cmelanson) | 5 comments Thanks so much! My second book hasn't been on sale for almost a year and I just put the trilogy together in a box set, so I'm hoping they will take one of those soon. :)

Cynthia Harrison (goodreadscomcynthia_harrison) | 1 comments Hi Claudette, I got a ton of reviews from a Book Bub ad. I paid a couple hundred dollars for it, and the book was on a free promo from my publisher, so I made no money:( But I did get more reviews than ever before. This is a little off topic but how did you get the box for the box set of your books? My publisher doesn't provide those and I want one too.

Claudette Melanson (cmelanson) | 5 comments Reviews can be worth their weight in gold lol. That's awesome. Sometimes we have to take the trade off. I made my first book perma free. The box set is just eBook. I would love to get print box set but I don't know of anyone who does those.

Hi Claudette,

Here is a link to an article on Bookbub's blog with tips on making submissions. The blog has a wealth of articles with author stories, and great pieces on book marketing.
