What to read after Diary of a Wimpy Kid?

Looking for recommendations for my 9yr old son. He is just finishing up the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. He likes the humor in this series so I want to find something similar. He also likes science and video games. He's read a few from Goosebumps and is trying Timmy Failure but wasn't too crazy about them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

How about trying some of David Walliams books, Tom Gates, the 13 storey treehouse or Roald Dahl?

Percy Jackson I think is a good series he could read. There's also A Series of Unfortunate Events which is very appropriate for his age, it also has lots of vocabulary to learn, I learned lots of words from the series myself.
