Section 1

Please keep all discussion and speculation to the events of Chapters 1-6.

No spoiler tags required. Though it would be highly appreciated if you Uncheck Add to my Update Feed to avoid accidentally spoiling things for your good read friends.

Please do not discuss events from later sections. Referring back to events from a previous section/book is fine.

Geoff (geoffgreer) I like that all of the Diving Cities novels have been fantasy crime novels. It scratches the crime-novel itch that I just don't read any more. And this appears to be the mystery of one Divine child trying to consume the others while Shara was trying to save them. At least, that's what it seems so far.

I'm thinking Sigurd is partially Divine in some way. Mulaghesh mentions he hasn't seems to have aged. That last bit where he stops the punch with his damaged hand. Its weird. But it could just be him being Dreyling (we've gotten very little info on the Dreyling as a people).

Andreas Just started it and already loving it. Because one cannot get enough Sigrud and I was low dose all year long.

Andreas Are you in need of explosives, slit throats, roap climbing, and divine creatures? There you have it, in large quantities. But take a deep breath before reading, because Action doesn't stop.

I'm also enjoying this so far. I like that we got a scene with Mulaghest.

I'm wondering if Shara is truly dead.

1) She's too smart to be taken like that
2) We never actually see her die

I'm curious about the conflict between these two children of the divine. Who is the one that Shara was working with?

I am curious to why Sigurd doesn't appear to have aged as well. We got an explanation about his hand. Does it have more benefit beyond being able to thwart the Divine and their offspring? Such as a longer life or age defying makeup..

I've been in a huge reading slump, and while this may not break it, I suspect it won't take me very long to read this compared to my last few books.

Geoff (geoffgreer) Yeah, everything we know about Shara tells us we should be skeptical about her sudden demise.

Andreas But Turyin Mulaghesh identified her corpse, right?

Nope. "Parts". Easy for someone like Shara to fake.

Sky | 1291 comments The plots of the first two books are slowly coming back. At least each book is semi-standalone. I also enjoy the detective nature of these books (and also the powder mage books).

Yeah, I dont think Shara is dead either. The girl with the funny eyes seems to be able to teleport.

I am pretty sure the "pain of .." stone has imparted some sort of divine powers on Sigrud. Besides not aging and stopping the punch, it helped him escape the belly of whatever divine beast ate him in a previous book.
