Which character(s) intrigued you the most?

When reading And Then There Were None, two characters stood out to me the most- Emily Brent, that old fashioned, stiff upper lip appearance and her intriguing eccentricities, and Vera Cleythorne, whose guilty conscience haunted her throughout the story...

But which character stood out to YOU the most, who had YOU surprised, intrigued?? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I was hardly surprised that the murderer ended up being mr.Lawrence Wargrave , though when he ''died'' my suspicions died as well. The way he took up the mantle and led the whole group was fishy and he most certainly is a good actor.I felt disgusted by the character of Ms.Vera Claythorne.I mean,WHO in the world kills an innocent young boy just to get married to the man she loves.Come on ,in the end Hugo didn't even want to look at her.Humph!Suits the murderess right! On the other hand,Mr.Wargrave's personality ,as presented in the epilogue,is scary, and the fact that people like this, mad for justice, still exist (though I've never seen one),is frightening.Ms.Emily Brent, just like the others, deserved her death, though her strict,Victorian-style upbringing is to blame.I liked Anthony Marston the most, though quite rightfully so,he dies at the beginning.I hated the Rogers.Euughh!Murdering an old dying employer.Despicable!Sorry if I seem to have strong views.

Hannah Brown I know exactly what you mean about Vera- I think she played her part well in the book but it was absolutley atrocious that she would kill an innocent ...more
