Thanks Nik, I hope you find it so too. I've bought the next one in the series, Empire State:

I finished Ring last month and it's one of the best horror supernatural thriller books that I've read. I bought it and started reading the next one in the trilogy, Spiral.
POV shifts b/w which characters? Ryuji and Asakawa or with secondary characters?

I finished R..."
Once in a while, it switches to random one-time characters. Suddenly I'll be in the POV of the cab driver, or the guy showing them to those files they had to look through, or Asakawa's boss, all of which we rarely or never see again. It just throws me off when it happens, as I think it distracts the reader from the main POV characters' thoughts and experiences.
And yes, it is wonderful. I can't put it down!

Have you or do you intend on watching the movie adaptations? I watched the Japanese adaptation.

I mean, I love POV shifts; I have four POVs in my book Grim Ambition and the other two in my trilogy, but each POV section stays with that character. I've never seen a book have a POV section that suddenly switches to someone they pass in the street, or something like that. Personally, I don't like it, because again, it's distracting and unnecessary in my eyes to know what the cab driver thought just that one time. However, it's still a fantastic read!
I have seen the American version The Ring, but no others. I think when I'm done with this book, I'm going to watch the Japanese version for sure. Watched a clip on YouTube and it creeped me out!
Any thoughts as to why the movie adaptation, even the first ones, didn't stick with the original story and instead came up with the girl in the well instead?

Did You finish the book yet?
I haven't watched the American adaptation yet but I plan to. But I think that sometimes the producer thinks that the film will appeal to a broader audience if they Change some things.

Did You finish the..."
Not yet. I have about 50 pages to go.
Well, wasn't the Japanese version about the girl in the well, too, and not the video/girl in the book?

ah, proximity of the transitions. a valid point.

i looked at my copy and 50 pages until the end near the cusp of the beginning of the end. so, it's probably better that i don't say anything. ^_^ Asakawa and Ryuji haven't met the doctor yet, right? or maybe you got excited about finishing it and now you're done! ^_^

Just met the doctor! NOW I see the well haha! Ahhhh I want to finish it but I"m at worrrrrk lol Can't wait for lunch time! :D

IKR. If you read the first few pages of the next book in the trilogy, Spiral, and you like it, maybe we could start a buddy read and see if others would join.
