I just got accepted for a fantasy arc that's second in a series (first was included when it was sent to me) that he wants reviews for around the 7th November... And they average 400-500 pages a book. So technically I need to drop everything and read, but that ain't happening XD So I now need to juggle so many books.

Chapters 1-2

(view spoiler)[How could anyone throw out their grandson because they don't want to care for a bastard??? I felt really sorry for the boy in the first chapter, and then his biological father abdicating from the throne and abandoning the boy just makes things worse.

The Wit concept intrigued me. So if you spend so much time with an animal, you sort of become one with it. I hope Burrich didn't kill Nosy. I liked the friendship between the dog and the boy but I guess Nosy's out of the picture now. I wonder if Fitz has any magic tied to him and that's why he connected with the dog?

I like the idea of him being trained to be an assassin (clue's in the title like) and I'm interested to see how he's gonna use the skills he's learning from Chade. I wonder if Burrich knows what he's up to.

I had both French and Latin in high-school and it was a word derived from French; it was also derived from the Latin word filius (which means son)

I'm enjoying this book so I think I'll definitely continue the series on. It's soo different from what I've read in the past because I normally read YA Fantasy, but I'm loving the leap into Adult Fantasy.

I wonder if Fitz will eventually grow up during this book? I guess so because he's already grown a few years (7ish) during the small percentage I've already read.

Hey guys! Just started this tonight. A little over a third through, I think (page 172, or the beginning of chapter 10).

Chapters 1-9: (view spoiler)[I like the writing. The imagery is really good, and the pacing is decent - very reminiscent of other fantasy books I've read in the storytelling by future self way. I like the little bits of stories/writing at the beginning of each chapter. As for the actual plot, it's okay. It's not UNinteresting, but I am a bit meh on it all. I dunno, Fitz just isn't doing tons and tons. Although it is a bit more interesting now, I guess. The scene where his dog died was so sad. Poor Fitz. Anyway, the book is pretty good so far, and I am happy to continue reading it. I have no concrete or even partially formed ideas about where, exactly, Fitz's story will go. I look forward to finding out! (hide spoiler)]

I agree! It's interesting, but kind of boring, which is typical of the start to a fantasy series. I can't wait to see what happens! I'm glad stuff is still making sense to me, but I do need some clarification on what the Skill is?

Yeah, that's exactly it! I'm intrigued, but I semi don't care. I think the Skill (as we've seen it so far) is some sort of magic. I think we've seen it from (view spoiler)[Fitz as telekinesis, when he's pushed a couple of people over, and maybe as telepathy/mind control from the king when he made Fitz his tool? (hide spoiler)] So some sort of mental magic? It's pretty undefined.

And also, we finally got his age :D And I think Tawny is some sort of a spy as well (would fit her description, she travels a lot, makes people annoy so they don't come close to her so she can do what she wants...)

Regal will become a twin brother to Joffrey Baratheon I can bet!

Also, calling it. Molly and Fitz will hook up, though it seems Molly got competition It was his father's wife, shame on me. Meanwhile, another year has passed and Fitz is 14 and he's finally gonna learn the Skill!

Anyhow, Chade being the older brother of Shrewd is a nice twist (hide spoiler)]
