Hey Donna! Somehow I've managed to totally miss this thread since 10/30. Sorry! Anyway, I like Lightning Thief as an audio book. It's fun, and easy to listen to. I can totally see why it's popular. As a YA, I loved mythology, and I find myself struggling to remember everything that I used to know about it. It does ready like YA... sometimes I wish we'd get to dig deeper, I feel like only the surface of the story has been scratched. Then again, unless the book is 1,000 pages, it's hard to get everything put in. I'm almost done with the audio book... I think about 1 more CD to go. After that, I'm either going to read the second Olympian book, or possibly The Devil Wears Prada for my next audio book! :)
I'm still plugging away at Shantaram, and am really planning on plugging through a chunk of Oliver this weekend! My family got hit by the flu last week, so reading time was almost zero. But, we're all healthy now! :)
That's good that you guys are all healthy. We got the flu shot but still had sniffles and the like. The bay is only 4 months so we just have to deal as we go but nothing major.
I am waiting fot the Lightning Thief from the library so I will go from there. I am just interested to see how it goes and I alsoways love to read the book and then compare it to the movie.
Anyways, I finished Eating Animals and am now going to start my other first reads win Courage of Fear by Barbara Boyer. She signed it which is nice :)

Finished reading Poor Little Bitch Girl - Jackie Collins and now deciding to read Housewife In Love - Alison Penton Harper
I didn't get a chance to pick up Pretties from the library and my daughter hid Queenpin from me so now I'm reading something small The Suicide Club
I'm trying to read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time but I can't get into it. I like the characters and everything, I think its just the way that its written. I wanted a good YA book for a change so I went to my library today, but apparently im 9th in like for Uglies and 64th in line for The Hunger Games... was it really that good?? lol...
I flew thru the curious incident but I wasn't really crazy about it either. I wish u were near me cuz I just brought the hunger games but I'm not reading it any time soon
I couldn't finish Queenpin. It just wasn't my cup of tea! I am now reading Pretties by Scott Westerfeld. #2 of the Uglies series.
I finally finished Curious... it definitely picked up during the last half of the book. I liked the little things, like the prime numbers and the Good days & Black days, but as a whole I still didn't find it very interesting.as for the hunger games- thanks for the thought! lol but I don't mind waiting for it. :)
Now reading Unaccustomed Earth Stories
Just finished Pretties and gave it 3/5 stars. I liked Uglies a lot better.
I am now reading The Kind One by Epperson.
I am now reading The Kind One by Epperson.
I just finished "leviathan" by scott westerfeld, it was wonderful! and am now reading "the girl who played with fire". This is a great book, very detailed and complex. I love the characters, they are well drawn and the writing is very concise. I also read about 20 old regency romances by georgette heyer and marion chesney that I picked up at the thrift shop. I love Marion Chesney's writing, she's so funny! She talks about how "the two looked away, with the embarassment one has when their elders are making a cake of themselves". I've got to find 'the girl with the dragon tatto" next
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first by Larsson and then it's The Girl Who Played with Fire AND THEN it's the last one The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.
The first one I gaave 3/4 and then TGWPWF I gave 4/5 I am hoping that the last one gets a 5/5 but we will see.
So far I am about 100 pages into The Kind One and it's pretty damn good!!!

We all had the flu the last few weeks also (all 5 of us!) isn't it the crappiest! I felt so bad I couldn't even read, that made me so mad! here I had a perfect excuse to lay around and read, but felt so bad I couldn't. now that's sick! I finished Shantaram, it was hard to get through I thought, but good.
Oh I hated those days! I couldn't read both times after I had the babies. I was told to get the flu shot for me and my older daughter who is 19 months because it was recommended if u had a child under 6 months at home.
I am about 3/4 of the way into Shiver and it's reminding me a lot of like New Moon. There are no vampires here but there are def a whole sloe of wolves. It's your typical YA. I am not hating it but I am not inlove with it either but it IS better than New Moon but I hated that series anyways.
Of course this book is part of a series.

Welcome Jo!!!!
How are you liking Under the Dome? I am not a huge Stephen King fan but I hear this one is good.

I finished up on Shiver last night and gave it 3/5 stars, I don't just give away 4 and 5 stars. I did enjoy the book however.

I'm a newbie here thank you for inviting me Donna! *Smiles and waves*I'm reading a little Chritmas book called "The stupidest Angel" by Chritopher Moore. It's cracking me up it's way out there but fun. I just read while trying to pick my jaw up from the shock...lol
I'm also reading Wuthering Heights for a little return to the classics. I have been avoiding since High school.
Welcome everyone!!! I see we are in a lot of groups together. I heard shadowland was good I didn't care for the whole sookie series

I am enjoying it! I really love the way it is written! Beautiful! I work in retail so I haven't had much time to read lately! It is taking me a while to get through!
I just started Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella its hot a funny twist to it so far a fun light read.
I'm getting through Year of the Fog and it's kinda dragging but after this I hafta read The Lightning Thief because it's a 7 day at library!
I've been wanting to read the lightning thief myself before I watch the movie. It looks rather good.

I finished Shantaram! I'm moving on to The Pillars of the Earth. Yesterday a book also arrived - Into the Path of Gods - and it took me forever to figure out why I got the book. Then I remembered that I signed up for a few books from librarything.com. I must have won the book but never got a notification about it. It looks like it has a lot of potential to be a great book - so I think I'll read that too. I also won three or four ebooks from librarything. Hmmm, maybe I need to try to figure out what my password over there is. :) Seriously, goodreads is a much better site, but it's kind of neat that I've gotten all those ebooks and a real book in less than a month over there. I do wish that goodreads would do ebooks giveaways. When you win an ebook from librarything, you are emailed a pdf - so you can either put it on your ereader, or read it off of the computer... which is nice. You don't have to have an ereader to get an ebook - but I'd hate to have to sit in front of the computer just to read a book... that'd be boring!I'm also listening to The Sea of Monsters - I'm on cd 3 of 7, and it's just as interesting as the first book so far. So much better than certain other young adult books that are just too popular for their own good. :)
So I am reading Rant and as always Chuck is a sick, sick man with a wild imaginiation but I love him. I just really enjoy the way he writes and everything he writes is always unexpected and....crude?

I hope to read it soon, Hope to buy the series. I just love to own series books.
I'm reading Wintergirls and Wuthering heights
It's a great series! I'm almost done with The Sea of Monsters, and will be starting The Titan's Curse soon. I'm doing this series as audio books, so I need to get over to the library today to try and check out Titan's Curse! :)
I want to keep going with the series but right now I am focusing on the last few books of my ABC challenge.
I love the whole idea of a son of Poseidon! I loved Greek mythology when I was younger would love to get a bit more of it!!
Finally finished White Oleander by Janet Fitch!! Just started The Girls by Amy Goldman Koss! I needed a short read!
I will be done readin Rant by the end of the work day. I thus will start Zipporah Wife of Moses on my ride home.
I've just started the audio book of Stardust. I'm only about 20 minutes into it, but I like it so far. I need to get to the library so I can get The Titan's Curse! I want to continue this story so badly! On a side note, I'm halfway done with The Pillars of the Earth. What an awesome book!
