Donna, it is understandible, when push comes to shove, I would place Henry Rollins first, simply because his liberal beleifs and soapbox is something that I can get behind. Whereas Kevin Smith is so rude, and gross that I have to be in the right mind set (or really stoned) to truly appriciate... But Kevin Smith has been known to say that he makes his money on "Dick and Fart Jokes" whereas Rollins makes his money "on making you think about your complacency", which makes is work a little heavy at times, but worth the read.

The one thing that makes me crazy is that Rollins is comfortable with his co-depencency with the people who "follow him" - I went to a spken word concert (my first) a couple of weekends ago and wanted to throttle him for constantly saying: "as an artist, I NEED YOU! I NEED your money, I NEED YOU" I wanted to stand up and yell: "Yeah?! So, I need a Massage and someone to cook ME dinner? wanna help ME out?" but in hind sight I get what he is saying all artists NEED the people who love their work and pay for it, we just don't always like to hear that fact.

Anna, how did you like Mistress of the Art of Death? I loved it and the other books so far in the series. The last one, A Murderous Procession, was a bit of a cliffhanger, and I can't wait until the next one.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 300 comments I'm going to finish up Charlaine Harris' (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood fame) Lily Bard series by this weekend, or the first of next week. Then, I will be able to start Wedlock: The True Story of the Disastrous Marriage and Remarkable Divorce of Mary Eleanor Bowes, Countess of Strathmore, the book I nominated as one of our June reads.

Just finished The Titan's Curse and now I am finally going to start Honolulu

Kathy (readr4ever) | 300 comments Well, I can't seem to stick to my scheduled reading. Of course, that's not anything new. I just finished Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet and loved it! I'm a little over halfway through Still Alice and am spellbound by it. The past couple of days I have bought Moloka'i and Honolulu by Brennert, the reads from last month, because they have really peaked my interest. I seem to be going backwards. Yikes!

Karla (bookarita) | 86 comments I enjoyed HOTCOBAS very much also learned something I didn't know much about in American history. In school they only had one paragraph in a text book about it.

Karla (bookarita) | 86 comments I think I read it in a day and half. Just break times and after work was a quick read. Enjoy Donna!

Karla (bookarita) | 86 comments Jo my husband has been trying to get me to read The Gunslinger for a while now. He raves over the whole series and rereads it as soon as he is done. I'm very interested in what you think of it. Need a females perspective on it.

It's easy to become totally immersed in this book. I even had after shocks of it, fearing I was symptomatic of early-onset Alzheimers. I'm feeling better now, almost a week later.
