Chase Adam Burningham was born in Lansing, Michigan, and has lived there ever since. His parents were gracious to him and his three little sisters, and overall had a strong relaionship with his family members. They attended public school and lived like the average American family. After graduating college, Chase was off to college and med school. He graduated a few years later after that, with a degree in medical. During his years in school, he had met the love of his life. Amanada Grace Salas. She was beautiful, smart, funny- everything he could ever ask for. They became best friends alongside each other in the hospital during their residencies, quickly becoming the cutest couple anyone knew. They were gentle with each other, forgave little and big mistakes alike, and understood each other. Chase proposed seven months before, and were planning their wedding, when something went out of hand. His fiancée and him were always fighting, despite the fact that thud never had the issue before. She slapped him a few times, went o spend the night at a friends a few times. Erik was always confused, frightened for what would happen to their rocky relationship. After those seven months, Amanda called it quits. She returned him his ring, packed her things, and left. Just like that. She no longer worked with him in the same hospital, in fact, she had moved to another city, for a 'fresh start'. Chase was heartbroken, torn to pieces. He could barely handle himself at work, often getting down on himself for mistakes and dwelling on the past. The staff had noticed and offered condolence, but nothing seemed to work. Chase was finished with relationships. He didnt think his heart could take another heartbreak.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments First, he is an awesome charrie! He'll definitely add alot to the plot. What if I had a character who was afraid of being pushed away? So when he pushes her away cause he doesn't want to get close to anyone, it causes problems?

Also, I like doing supernatural rps, or rps with a fair amount of action in them(like the one you looked at) because it keeps them exciting. But I am honestly up for anything. :)

message 5: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Thank you :3 I think that would be so much fun! I wish I hant waited to ask for this rp -.- ill try to be on for the next five hours until I've gotta go!!!!

Finally, someone with same interests! I'm excited for once :D yeah, action is definitely my thing! Okay, so what will happen in this one? I've already got an angel to going on, so anything having to do with powers or witches or something will do :) or even a cute one is awesome! She could always be some undercover spy i don't even know man

message 6: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Ok, np. I'm actually in Europe for the next little while, so I'm on a different time zone and will have to go sooner than usual as well :P (I am usually from Canada)

Yeah! I'm excited too! What if she is an undercover assassin, that doesn't believe in magic, and doesn't believe in anything that requires imagination, fun, etc. She believes in rules, and following orders, and then he is the exact opposite, as he has some sort of power, but then when it comes to relationships, deep down, she has always wanted one, but she hides it with the rules thing. And he is all fun loving and daring to try and forget about his relationships? Don't know if that made any sense at all :P

message 7: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Haha! It works out then :) in on PST, so it's 11:45 am

Yeah that's perfect! That's like an old rp I had, just the opposite! I'd love to play the fun character for once :p and maybe she could have some business with the hospital so that I can keep that in there... I think chase would be someone who's sweet, loving to the kids, generous, and trying to look up an he positive again?

message 8: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments wow, it's 8:46 pm here.... :P

Sure, that works out well :) I guess she could be sent to follow a tip the agency got about weird occurrences? (ps, what would his powers be???) And then of course, when she figures out that it is actually him that is the cause of it, she will have to decide whether or not to hand him in or not :P

message 9: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Oooh that's a wild difference .-. Haha it's all good though! I'm usually on in mornings and like until midnight...
Okay! Ummm since he's in a hospital, he could have some sort of healing and maybe immortality idk, what do you suggest? OHHHHH maybe the govt thinks he's a mutant and want to study him for his powers to put to use!

message 10: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments yeah. Don't worry. I'm only here for a week. Then I'll be back to Est time :P.

Yeah! I think healing is a great idea! And regeneration maybe? Immortality is a great idea as well. Oh YES That is perfect :)

message 11: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments MUAHAHHAHAHHAHA jk okay I'll adds his powers in :) he would have kept it a secret, and maybe that's why Amanda left him when he told her, and she tipped him off? Okay!!

message 12: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Yeah! Sounds great! I'll go make my charrie now :)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Name: Lexi James
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Appearance: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/30884848...
eye color: blue/grey
hair color: ginger
height: 5'7

Personality: She's outgoing and spunky, some may call her quirky. She is extremely stubborn, and will defend her opinion fiercely as she doesn't like to be wrong. However, she is dead serious when it comes to her job. There is no way you can get her off track, and because of this, she is new and rising through the ranks of her peers. Some may call her a stick in the mud, but hey, if it gets the job done, she doesn't care at all. However, she is completely terrified of small, confined spaces. She always fidgets in elevators.

History: She doesn't talk much about her past, so if you want to find out, you're going to have to ask her. All people know is that she joined the agency a year ago with uncanny skills. No one knows where she came from, and no one asks.

message 15: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Thanks, lol :P Ok. Sounds good. I guess they can just bump into each other at the hospital? She could already be there on her job, first day or something, and be disguised as a nurse in his ward?

OH MY GOSH, I am gonna cry!!!! I was just told that I don't have internet access starting tomorrow until the eighteenth! *sniffles* and I was so pumped about starting this rp!!!! I am so sorry. I honestly had no idea. I will try to get at least one reply in before I have to go :(

message 17: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments It was a chilly September afternoon, and chase pulled his jacket closer to him. They really had to turn up the heater in here. It was his shift at the children's hospital he worked at, in the nursing wing where rcovering and permanent patients were located. Chase navigated his way through the gals, hardly able To smile at anyone. It had already been a month since the breakup, but he still couldn't shake it off. "Hey, Andy! How're the legs?" He said cheerily, grinning at a little boy who had recently gotten artificial limbs planted. "They're cool, chase! Look at them!" He bragged, a scrawny boy of seven, with brown matted hair and glasses. His blankets had been thrown back, and some cartoon ran on the television.

"They're awesome, buddy! Can't wait to see you walk in em!" Chase ruffled Andrews hair, taking notes on the clipboard. The boy was in much better spirits and his face was flushed, meaning he had improved since the few days before. "I'll be back later," chase waved, exiting to the hallway. He loved his job, seeing the kids smile, and he found it somewhat helped if he immersed himself in his work to forget about Amanda. Chase made several more stops to the patients rooms, before heading down to te emergency wing to bring over some supplies from a storage room.

He hated the emergency room, filled with bleeding and screaming children with their troubled and desperate mothers. Today, the place wasnt as packed at ten am, but there was a good number. As a man in hospital scrubs, immediately a woman rushed to him with her toddler in her arms. "Please, can you help her? She's losing so much blood, please... Please!" She weeped, her daughters face awfully pale. Chase wasnt really supposed o be doing any of this, in case his wing needed him, but he wasnt going to let the little girl die. "I'll take care of it, ma'am," he said firmly, before jogging with the girl towards the medical rooms.

It was quite crowded despite what he had seen on the outside, with a crying child and nervous nurses moving about quickly between the curtained rooms. He managed to find an empty one, immediately clapping on a respiratory machine to get the girl to breathe. It was a simple wound, a gash from what he guessed was a knife or something. He put pressure on her arm to slow bleeding, cleaned the blood from her arm, swabbed on some antibiotics, and began to gauze and wrap.

"Come on, honey, you'll be okay," he whispered gently to the patient, brushing back her hair from her sweaty forehead. The girl only whimpered in response, closing her eyes in exhaust. She would be okay, as long as they got a blood transfusion done. Chase handed the girl off with directions, and the nurse hurried off for a blood bag. Chase washed his hands in the deep sink, several times lathering on antibacterial soap and hand sanitizer. If he got one of the patients sick, he was dead.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi tucked a strand of her curly red hair into her green cap, growling in frustration when the stubborn curl decided to bounce right back out again. As much as she loved her job, some of the disguises were just plain out there, and honestly, she hated this one. Tight, stiff, and... green. Green was not her colour. She tucked her clipboard between her knees and bit her lip as she attacked the piece of hair, finally getting it to stay inside that blasted cap.

Grabbing the clipboard again, she ruffled through the sheets that marked out her schedule. Her plan. She had to try and fit in with the nurses here, and try to act busy. Yes, she knew a fair amount of healing. Heck, she had even stitched up her own gun wound once, but nursing, well, that wasn't really her thing. She would have to wing it. But hey, she was good at that. That was why she was picked for this job.

Keeping her head down, she tried not to make eye contact with any of the other nurses and the occasional doctor. Conversation was a distraction. Distractions were a waste of time. Wasting time was a job done poorly, and Lexi never did her job poorly. She always made sure to complete it to the best of her ability. She was known for being quick, clean, and good and getting the right people to talk.

However, she had to admit that this job in particular, unnerved her a little. I mean, what agent was sent into the field looking for... well... magic? As much as she hated even thinking about it, it was her mission, and she was not one to back down from a challenge. So maybe some street magician was preforming miracles. Great. She would find them and bag them as soon as possible and then get as far away as she could.

She kept her head down, reading over the sheets, and walked into a room that looked fairly abandoned, except for a small child. However, when she walked in, she was startled to see a doctor washing his hands in the sink behind the door. She hadn't seen him and she was kicking herself for walking into a room someone was already in. This was a set up for conversation, and that was not good. She couldn't just back out of the room now though, so she walked over to the small child on the bed and tried to look busy.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase sprinkled his hands into the sink to get rid of excess water, ripping a a paper towel roll to dry his hands off. The door opened and closed, and chase assumed it was the nurse from earlier with a blood bag for a transfusion. No. It was a strange nurse, maybe a newbie, one he had never seen before. She began to fuss with the girl on the recovery bed, checking labels and the vital signs. "Excuse me, what are you doing?" Chase began awkwardly, a bit puzzled and alarmed. Who was she? Everyone knew that nurses in the er section were sparse, and it was a waste to have two with one child.

On top of that, he found that she was different than everyone else. Her nurse cap was on... Backwards. Something was up, and he didnt like it. Chase didnt comment on it, however, slowly moving to the little girl on her bed. She had closed her eyes for rest, and chase hoisted her up into his arms to be moved to a recovery room, away from the noise and chaos of the er. His wing. "Can I help ou find something, miss?" Chase sighed, his startling blue eyes looking to the woman's.

At that moment, the nurse with the blood bag burst through the door, handing the red pouch hurriedly to the odd woman and speaking rapidly to yet another nurse, who assisted a kid with severe burns on his arms and face to the table. Chase made him self sparse, giving the new nurse a look. "Come on, out!" He called to her with a hit of frustration, embarassed. The er nurse had thought this newbie had been with him, and didnt know what she was doing.

"We need to give this girl a transfusion, ready the machine," he instructed, holding an authority over the majority of nurses around here. He just wanted to be back in his own wing, the recovery area, along with the permanent residents. It was too hectic and stressful in the er section. Chase kept up a brisk pace, even with the girl melted into his chest.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi thought the doctor would just leave. In fact, she was praying he would just leave. But no. He decided to turn, and of all things, he started talking to her. Lexi fumed inside, hating him for starting conversation. Who knew how long it would take her to actually start snooping around now!? "Just checking her vitals." She said curtly, as if it was a stupid question that he had asked.

She thought she had gotten into the clear then, and could just leave. But then another nurse, a short stubby one with black curls that bounced every which way she moved burst in through the door and shoved a bag of blood into her hands. Lexi both groaned inwardly, staring at the nurse with a particular despise and the perky woman practically bounced up and down like her curls did as she instructed her on something, talking a mile a minute. After she was done and had left again, Lexi sighed in relief, honestly not understanding a word of what the woman had said.

Then she realized those instructions were for her, and she gulped. Oops, guess I should have paid attention... She stood there, hoping the right thing to do would just present itself. Then the doctor called to her and she gratefully followed him, glad he had ordered her to do something so that she actually was busy. If she just stood there, someone would notice.

He instructed her about the transfusion, and Lexi nodded slowly. "Ok. You got it." She agreed, trying to sound like she knew what she was doing, when really she had no idea what machine she was supposed to be readying nor how she was supposed to ready it. She just followed the doctor, hoping desperately that he would help her.

When they reached the room, she realized that she should probably start working on this thing, so she walked over to the nearest machine and tried to hook the transfusion up to it. She found herself not knowing what she was doing at all, and her heart started to pound. Now how do I pull this off and make it look normal??? "Uh..." She giggled nervously, hoping it sounded real. "It's my first day, and uh... I'm a little out of it as there's so much to see and take in and..." That much was true. "Uh, could you maybe, help me out with this?" She asked plaintively, actually pulling on a blush. Of course she wasn't embarrassed, but it was all part of the act.

((have to go soon :( ))

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase shouldered his way into a room when the nurse failed to open the door ahead of him, already deep concerns filling him. They couldn't have a buffoon like her working in the place! One mistake, she could kill someone. Several people. He lay the girl down on a bed, carrying out a series of preperstios for her blood transfusion. He checked her temperature, her blood type again to ensure it was the right blood, what time it was, how fast the blood would be regulated. He scribbled this all on a clipboard, waiting for the nurse to get moving.

Instead, she had begun to fuss with a monitor, a heart rate machine that kept people alive. "Don't touch that! What are you doing!" He shouted in a bit of a hysteric, alarmed that she would break te machine. "Have you gone through your training?" Chase recovered, sighing. He reverted to a gentler tone, taking the blood bag from her bare hands and steering her in the direction of the transfusion machine. "You're supposed to be wearing gloves," chase pointed out, flexing his fingers to show the latex one on his hands.

"Watch carefully," chase warned, strapping the bag in place and inserting a needle very cautiously into the small girls vein. This needle he taped to her fragile arm, moving the bag so the blood could drain properly. He set the machine to transfer the blood at a calculated rate, before taking more notes. "And then, if you were in charge of her, you'd check on her every twenty minutes, the transfusion should last three hours," chase finished, in clicking the pen at his side.

"What's your name?" Chase offered, feeling slightly guilty for ring so rude to the lady. Every body had their first day. He hadnt been told of a new staff member, but decided he'd baby sit until he found her trainer. "I'm Chase Burningham, I'm in charge of this wing of the building," he offered to shake her hand, sill with a glove on.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi followed when he steered her to the right machine, despite how much she hated to be bossed around and touched. Then she nodded. "Right. Gloves." She said, spotting a box on the wall and quickly racing over to it, pulling out two gloves. Gross! I'd rather deal with the blood than these gloves! Absolutely disgusting!

She took his advice and watched very carefully as he hooked up the blood bag and attached a long tube to a needle, and then very carefully put that needle in the girl's arm. She found herself smiling softly, as he was so gentle with the girl, as if she was a china doll.

She nodded when he spoke to her, taking a mental note of what he said. "Ok. Great, thanks." She replied, smiling and nodding like she got it. Ok maybe now I can escape and snoop around... She thought hopefully. But then the doctor asked her name, gave his, and offered to shake hands. I'm making friends!? Great. Just great. She offered him a polite smile, shaking his outstretched hand. "Nice to meet you Chase. I'm Sam SummerHill." She said, giving him an alias, and not her real name.

((Sorry it's so short, I don't have a lot of time and I wanted to fit in one more post.))

message 27: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase shook this Sam Summerhill's hand, a firm grip around her slender gloved fingers. She seemed alright, that maybe with a bit of training she could be a good nurse. Chase smiled encouragingly, releasing her hand. "Nice to me you too, Miss Summerhill," he smiled, before stepping bck to remove his gloves and wash his hands in te little sink by the door. In his mind, he struggled to remember anything about a new nurse. Summerhill. It didnt sound the least bit familiar, and it troubled him inside. What if he HA missed a meeting or something? A new nurse at the wing was a big deal.

"So, Sam, have you been assigned anywhere... Specific...?" Chase asked awkwardly, scribbling one last thing on the clipboard for the patient before returning his blue eyed gaze to Summerhill. "I could always... Show you around, if you needed. I'm in charge of this wing, the recovery and permanent patient wing," he added, moving for the door and waving her over.

((Sorry mine is short, can't remember how to type))

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((np :) ))

Lexi bit her lip and thought about that for a moment. Should she tell him a specific place? She didn't know many ward names, and well, choosing this one might be a little too coincidental. She decided to play the innocent, oblivious type of girl, and immediately fidgeted, not a real fidget, just for show. "I was told to help out whom ever needed me and..." She sighed softly. "Well I feel that I've just been a bother."

She found herself blushing again then, both for the act, and from a strange feeling that had suddenly shot through her when her eyes locked on Chase's blue ones. What was with that? The feeling unnerved her, and she immediately tried to shove it away. Get your head in the game! She scolded. "That would be great!" She replied in return to his offer to show her around. "If that's alright..." She added, again acting shy as she followed him through the door. This blissfully innocent act was getting rather tiresome, but it went with the name, and she had to stick with this disguise.

message 29: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase decided that Lexi wasn't so bad after all, her complete innocence persuading him to forgive the poor thing. He let his suspicion slide for the moment, instead focusing on getting Lexi situated. She seemed to be extremely nervous, and immediatly felt guilty for reprimanding her for being in the wrong place. "Well... I guess i could use a little assurance," chase considered, offering a smal smile as he swung open the door for Lexi. "Oh, don't worry about it... It's your first day, i understand," chase laughed, closing the little girls recovery room door behind him.

"Of course, I wouldn't mind, although you'd have to come on my rounds to check on everyone later," he shrugged, dragging his now clean hands through his blonde hair. "Hey," chase nodded at a passing nurse, before turning to wave Lexi over. "Come on, the place is vast," he urged, deciding to keep the new nurse for himself. It was different to have a sort of... Assistant figure, replacing his fiancée, but he decided he wouldn't let it mean anything to him. She was just a new nurse. Nothing more. A new nurse.

"Over here, the front desk. You need to check in here, every morning, and when you leave as well," chase instructed, resting a heavy hand on the counter by a visitors list clipboard. He pointed to each scrub-decked lady, introducing them by first name as they exchanged warm smiles with the younger inexperienced nurse with a certain fondness. He then led Lexi away down the halls, here and there giving a small speech about something or other she needed to know about.

While they were on the seventh room to take a look on Andy's new legs, a stretcher rolled by with a very fragile child laying unconsious, tubes, wires ovf every kind strapped on to him. His skin was burnt completely, some areas more than others. It was awful quiet amongst the two pushing the stretcher, as if they both knew he wouldn't make it. Connor, was his name. "Watch out," chase mumbled softly, his arm bracing her back to the wall. Chase couldn't help himself, the overwhelming desire to help the poor little boy taking over his actions.

Chase walked alongside the stretcher for a little, his large palm encompassing the small distorted hand covered in third degree burns. The usual warm energy flowed through his body, the invisible healing powers invisible to everyone. This healing power shot through chases palm, now slowly spreading through Connors blood stream. He wouldn't die, not anymore, but would have burn scars for a while. "Hope he will be okay," chase sighed, lettin go of the boys hand and giving a nod to the nurses as if he had truly just been walking beside them.

Chase had joined the whole hospital thing after being sent down to this earth only a few years ago, on immortal terms. He was fairly young for someone who posessed immortality, only 27 years old. The hospital job was something easy for him, that he enjoyed and took some pride in. It also allowed him to use his powers, which proved to be both a blessing, and a curse. He had saved several lives in his lifetime, but he had to be careful not to heal everyone. One year, many became suspicious of the practice methods at the hospital, due to te impossible survival rate of all incoming patients compared to the year before.

Chase had it all under control now and used only with regulation. What chase was afraid of was if people found out. He had told his ex girlfriend of seven years about them after he proposed, and she hadnt taken it well. When he took that knife and sliced his hand open in front of her, then watched as it healed up by itself, Amanda had screamed so loud, horrified. After that, the fighting began. The uncertainty, the fear. Amanda had acted truly disgusted with him, appalled that he could do such miracles. He had thought she would be amazed, pleased with his abilities. Yet, it led to their break up.

Chase slouched his shoulders ambling into Andy's room with his pen squeezed in hand, trying to shake off memories of Amanda Salas. "Hi, Andrew," chase smiled weakly, sitting beside his artificial legs on the bed and patting a spot for Lexi.

Lexi nodded and followed him, being careful to stick close to him, but not too close that it would be uncomfortable. She skirted around stretchers and nurses bustling too and fro. The hallways in the hospital reminded her of crowded city streets--bustling with energy and life. Everyone looked so determined, like they knew what their job and purpose was, and they were set out to do it, no matter the costs.

Lexi took great care to listen to every detail he told her, all the while looking excited to learn. She filed everything he said away in a mental cabinet at the back of her mind. Everything she learned could be useful in solving this mystery, and she knew it. She was surprised however, at the friendliness of the nurses. They all greeted her kindly, and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know her.

It almost made Lexi feel bad about what she was doing. Deceiving them all. To catch a criminal and maintain the safety of the city. She almost felt guilty, but not quite. She had bottled up her true emotions skillfully long ago. There was less pain that way. No relation, no friends, no love, equaled no pain. And she had been trained to take the easy, most painless way possible. Slide around things, don't tackle them. That was her way.

She was still following him when Chase did something curious. He turned and looked at a small boy that seemed to have gotten caught in a fire or something, as he had burns all over his frail body. Lexi was not watching the boy however, she was watching Chase in interest as a strange emotion crossed his features.

Then he did something even more strange. He turned and walked to the boy, holding his hand and walking with him for a moment. He wasn't socializing with the nurses, and he wasn't talking to the boy either. He was just... holding his hand. What is he doing? Normal people would not have been curious about this action, but Lexi had been trained to notice little things like this. And training, most of the time, did pay off.

Lexi kept that stupid innocent smile on her face the whole time, watching Chase as if she was touched by his actions, but her eyes stayed sharp - suspicious almost. She watched as a look of satisfaction lit on Chase's face, and then he left the boy and continued to a different room. Lexi hurriedly followed, smiling happily at him before sitting lightly on the spot where he had patted.

She wasn't sure what had just happened, but it was like Chase had been happy about something, when he let go of that boy's hand, and then he almost deflated. What was he thinking about? She wondered. She knew that expression. She had seen it in the mirror so many times. She pushed the thought away, though, and looked at this new boy - Andrew. She smiled softly at him, actually compassionate now, as a couple of her team mates had lost limbs in the field. "How did he loose them? She whispered to Chase.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase snapped out of his thoughts with Lexi whispering in his ear about Andrew. His blue eyes flit down to the artificial limbs, before he bent to whisper to Lexi. "Born that way," chase sighed, feeling a bit sorry for the kid. Yet, Andrew was optimistic. His glasses at crooked on his nose, a beaming smile on his face. "Chase! Who is she?" Andy asked curiously, his loud childish voice echoing on the hospital walls. Chase had only ever brought Amanda on his rounds, so of course, Andy was suspicoous. Especially when they whispered to each other.

"This is.. Lexi, she's a new nurse," chase introduced her half heartedly, giving Andy's plastic leg a firm pat before he stood up again. He made clipboard notes as he had been doing all day, then administered Andy's medication to strengthen his bones. "How's everything today? The cartoons any good?" Chase winked at Andy, trying to lift himself out of the depressing hole he had dug himself. The little syringe of medicine was prepared, flicked, blessed by him, then inserted into Andrews skinny arm. He had some sort of bone deficiency, to the point where his limbs were almost useless.

Thanks to chase, he was getting better. Slowly.

"All the good ones aren't on today-!" The little boy whined, mock pouting as he winced at the needle moving into his arm. "Sorry bout that, little dude... Maybe we'll go for a spin later on, eh?" He winked, before disposing of the syringe. "Okay, chase!" He beamed with that toothless grin of his, perfectly content in his stretcher with the teddy bear Amanda had given him long ago, when he had first come into the hospital awfully frail and sick.

Here Andy was, without full function of his legs, yet... He was so happy with his life. He was confined in a room by himself all day, everyday, only with a tv to entertain himself. Chase was in healthy shape, immortal, an had a well off living. But still he complained about how miserable he was without Amanda. It was pathetic. He learned something from Andy everyday, it was why the kiddo was his favorite patient. Almost like a little brother, like a son.

"I'll see you later?" Chase offered his hand or their secret handshake, a white grin on his lips. "You betcha, chase!" Andy giggled, pounding chases larger fist with his tiny one, settling back into bed without a single care in the world. "Atta boy," chase nodded, before saluting and waving goodbye. "Come on, Lexi," he ushered her out side into the corridors.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi watched him carefully. He seemed so tender and loving towards this child. With her, well, her work was everything. Her life, her job, who she was, everything. But that didn't mean she was all lovey dovey. In fact, she didn't tolerate slacking at all. In fact, she would probably start scolding this kid for not taking so and so pills, etc. Yet Chase seemed like he actually enjoyed seeing the boy. Almost like he wanted to see the kid, and actually hoped he would get better, as if it was something personal.

She found herself smiling as she watched the two interact. He was so gentle. Pretty much the opposite of herself. She sighed softly, and then frowned a little, trying to get back on track. That was when she noticed that Chase actually looked a little... down. What is wrong with him? She wondered.

She followed him quickly out when he ushered her to do so, and kept up easily as he headed off to his next patient. She watched him, a small frown of worry on her face. "Are you..." She said, taking a couple quick steps to catch up with him. "Are you alright?" She asked, concern in her voice. He didn't look happy for some reason, and she actually felt badly for him.

He had put on a good face for that kid. She had seen it, but then he had dropped the mask when they were in the hallway again. She was impressed by how well he could mask his emotions. He would make a good agent... She thought. Then she immediately reprimanded herself. No friends! No friends! I can't get close to anyone! Absolutely not!

((so, when is she going to find out about him being and angel? And should how should he find out about her being an agent? Just curious :) ))

"What? Oh yeah... I'm fine," chase smiled for Lexi, seeming distant and distracted. It got hard sometimes at work to move on from Amanda, everything had assosicaion with his ex. All he ears over and over was her screams, You freak! screeched over and oer in his ears. "Why?" Chase frowned, rubbing his face sleepily and guiding Lexi down to the front counter to check in the log book witht he secretary. Did he really give it away that he wasnt himself today? It wasn't common for the nurses to ask him if he was okay anymore, they all knew he wasn't.

Lexi was new to the hospital, and en though shed be working close to him, he didnt feel like explaining his past to her. At all. "Think you've got your hand around here? It'll be lunch soon," chase sighed, handing the log book over the counter to a red haired nurse. He leaned up against the counter, a fist on his waist. He couldn't help but stare a little at Lexi, a strange feeling fluttering in his stomach. Chase adjusted his dark navy blue scrubs and his name tag, dragging his fingers through his hair.

((OMG I'm so sorry it's short, I don't know what's going on today with my writing! I only had like four hours sleep so maybe that's it .-.))

Lexi shook her head slowly, sighing. So he wasn't going to tell her what was wrong. She hadn't really expected he would. She never told anyone anything herself, so why did she expect that of him. She found herself actually wishing she could help him, and that was strange. She didn't help people. She did her job and got it done. That was all.

She bit her lip and nodded. "Yeah. I think I have the hang of things around here." She agreed. "sorry for bothering you and all..." She said softly, actually genuinely sorry for causing him so much trouble. "Maybe I could make it up to you. Let me buy you a coffee?" She offered, smiling sweetly at him. She convinced herself that her offer was just to buy time to investigate him a little, and nothing else.

((so they go out, and she... hmmm... gets hit by a car?))

E M M A | 1540 comments ((Hit by a car THAT'S SO EVIL !!!! Yes :3 hit and run or something maybe))

Chase rubbed his eyes sleepily, due to a lack of rest the night before. Lexi was sweet, and having her at the hospital brightened things a bit. It was like a new start, an innocence. It actually was kind of... Fun. Going on his rounds alone was no fun, and it seemed to be that Lexi was genuinely trying to learn, to be a good nurse. He quirked a smile at her apology, shaking his head with an easy laugh. "Oh please, Lexi, it was my pleasure to have you around," he grinned genuinely. "You weren't a bother, I'd love to work with you," he said warmly.

He was just being his usual friendly self, nothing more. He was only asking for her company because he got lonely, bored even, Lexi was only a friend, a coworker. Nothing more.

"Coffee? Sounds good to me," chase shrugged, checking his watch on his wrist. "It's our break, well it's mine... We could walk to that Starbucks down the block, get some fresh air," chase offered, scribbling on the sign in log, with Lexis name squeezed under his in pen. He wrote down the time thy were leaving, before waving her oer to the elevator.

"Phew, finally a little break," chase stretched, holding the large elevator open for a mother and her husband, with their daughter. He smiled at how well they got along, how loving the parents were towards each other. Chase felt a pang in his chest, that could have been him and Amanda. Chase huddled in the corner with his arms crossed in from of him, his hands clasped. The elevator landed on the ground floor, a ding sounding as the doors opened. Chase held the edge of the doors open for the little family, waving Lexi out and making sure a waiting group of nurses got inside the elevator.

Chase walked alongside Lexi, his hands jammed in his pockets. He nodded briefly a each person he passed by, the smell of sterile sanitizer stringer on this floor level. The automatic doors swished open, and the two walked outside in to the fresh air.

((What's the time of year again .-. And where))

Lexi found herself actually smiling when he said he enjoyed working with her, and she lit up like a string of Christmas lights. That was just about the nicest compliment she had ever received, and it made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. "Yeah. Starbucks sounds great." She agreed, following him to the elevator. She too noticed the family, and she smiled softly.

She wished to the bottom of her heart that it would be possible for her to settle down and have a family like that some day. But something said that just wouldn't be possible. Not with who she was. Not with her job. She walked out of the elevator with him, and waited for him to help everyone else, before walking with him to the doors, and then outside.

She immediately pulled off that nurse's cap and let her long, wavy red hair flow loose. That felt so good. So much better than that tight, annoying, stuffy hat. practically tearing off the gloves as well, she shoved both hat and gloves in her pocket before tightening her coat around herself. Summer was just reaching its end, and already the temperatures had turned from warm to crisp.

She started to walk with him towards the Starbucks, waiting for the light to turn green at the cross walk, before starting to walk quickly across. And that was when she heard a shrill screech as rubber burned asphalt. Her head snapped up just in time to spot the heavy pickup before it slammed into her, full speed.

message 46: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase had noticed that her hair was red by the loose tendrils peeking from her cap, but he never truly noticed until she ripped the cloth from her head. It was beautiful, and cascaded down her back in natural waves. Chase snapped his eyes from the locks, standing by Lexi at the crosswalk. The street was relatively calm, the children's hospital being located in a safe environment. Oh, was he wrong. The crosswalk turne clear to cross, with a dump truck and a car approaching the stop light. However, the truck wasnt slowing down. No, it wasnt even stopping.

"LEXI!" Chase screamed, having ducked back from the approaching truck just in time. He had grasped her arm, but the fabric of her scrubs had slid from his fingertips. The smell of burnt rubber and lexis horrifying scream pierced his ears, and everything seemed to happen in slow motion. He saw it all, in front of his very own eyes. Lexis body was tossed into the air with a sickening crunch, a thud and slam into the concrete, and the truck swerved off again like nothing had happened. Chase sat sprawled on his side, his legs tucked beside him, his palms on the cold asphalt.

He couldn't move at first, his body trembling violently as several people screamed, and the woman in the car that had stopped at the light sobbing, speaking rapidly into her phone. Chase's body was numb, his fingers tingling as he staggered to his feet with tears blurring his vision. "L-Lexi-" he sobbed, afraid to approach her limp figure distorted in a wrong shape.

"No, no...!" Chase broke down, unable to process a single thing. E could feel death eating away at her, her spirit being sucked up into the heavens as he rendered hinself useless on the concrete. People were staring, beginning to gather, he had to save her. It would nearly kill him to bring her back, literally, but it was worth a shot. Lexi had been so young, beautiful, full of potential. It was all his fault, he had to fix this! It's what he was here for, right?

Gasping and choking on his sobs, chase gingerly gathered Lexi in his arms, cradling her broken limbs best as he could close to him. Her blood was everywhere, her clothes ripped and distorted on her body where the tires had tangled the fabric. "Sir, sir! You need to put your girlfriend down! Sir, I know it's hard, but you need to sit down, you're in shock!" A passers by, the father from the elevator, had out his hands on chases shoulders, restraining him firmly but gently from going anywhere with Lexi.

"Let go," chase snapped gruffly, shrugging the man off. Unintentionally, in this kind of survival mode, chase had revealed himself as an angel to some, his skin glowing brightly, and his wings materializing and spreading their full span. His blue eyes darted to the hospital windows, panic surging through his vains. A few people shrieked at his angelic appearance, some knelt down in respect or in some sort of prayer to God.

Chase leapt from the ground with as much strength as e could muster, his wings taking him high above the ground in seconds. He hadnt used them in years, but they worked nonetheless. "Lexi..." Chase croaked, landing on the too of a high rise. He lay her broken and battered body on the ground, not ven sure what was her face anymore. "S-so much b-b-blood," chase stammered uncontrollably, his hands shaking as he ripped off the strangling tshirt scrub. He left her in her bra and underwear, the only two things that seemed to remain in their natural shape. He took off his own shirt and rested it by lexis body, for when she woke up shed have something to cover herself with.

Chase knelt by her chest, his trembling palms placed over her heart as he began to chant softly, his body heating up as a searing white light emanated from him, his blue eyes glowing unlike any human. The chant got louder, stronger, a sense of relief rushing through chase as everything he had in him left his hands. Lexis body had been covered with a white light as well, the two of them just blobs of heavenly light. Her body had fixed itself, the bones stitching back together, strengthened by chases powers. Every scar, bruise, blemish she had had before the accident was gone, and soon her body lay in pristine condition in front of him, breathing and awake as he finished the last of his spell.

He only stayed consious long enough to see her chest rise and fall once, and then he collapsed with exhaustion beside Lexi. His boy couldn't handle the strength it took to bring her back. Lexis spirit hadnt travelled far, almost as if it had been beside them the entire time clinging to the possibility that it could return to its body. Chase's face had broken out in a sweat, trickling down his bare back and neck. He was still awake, but couldn't bring himself to move. All he knew was that he had saved Lexi, and that she would live.

Wether Lexi screamed and ran from him like his own fiancée did, he wouldn't judge. It was her call to make.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi didn't know what was happening to her. More importantly, she didn't know how stupid she could have been to walk in front of a speeding truck. As if in a dream, she felt herself get crushed, and then thrown, crumpling against the sidewalk. She could breathe, she couldn't move, she couldn't do anything. She wanted to scream, to cry, to shout, something, but she had to just lay there, staring at the sky, in more pain than she had ever been in.

Then it was as if a shimmering veil of white fell on the world. And she felt herself lifting, standing. She found herself floating lazily above a tangled mess of flesh and bones. She stared at it calmly, slowly realizing that that was her. Am I dying? She wondered. Am I dead?

She watched her body, a tear rolling down her face as she saw Chase pick her up and cradle her. How she wished she could have actually been in her boy when that happened. She was not scared of dying, but she was sad that she would be leaving so much behind. She was young, and she wanted to live out her life still. But then, as she watched, the shimmering glow suddenly grew stronger around Chase. And then, two feathery white sheets unfurled and flapped slowly, appearing to be wings. Chase has... wings? Why does he have wings!? Could he be the magician I was sent to capture?

As she watched, Chase picked up her body and flapped those magnificent, iridescent wings, carrying both her and her spirit up to a higher place. Not heaven, just a rooftop. She stared at him, watching as he started to chant and glow brighter, doing something to her body. At first she was angry. What is he doing to me that little no good magician!? But then she watched as her body started to reform, pulling together, fixing itself. When that was done, it looked even better than it had before.

Before she had time to think, she was suddenly pulled down into her body. It was dark, and still, but she heard a loud sound. Her heartbeat. Her eyes snapped open and she sat up, looking over at Chase who was lying weakly on the ground, wings still out and draped on the ground behind him. Lexi just stared, her mouth open. He's the magician alright. But no one told me I was... was catching an angel! She grimaced, thinking of how stupid she sounded saying that, but there was no other explanation. That just isn't right. I cant... cant hand over someone who saved me, no less an angel!

She bit her lip and sighed, deciding not to think about the handing in yet. Right now, Chase looked exhausted and weak, and she wanted to help him, after all, she felt like she owed it to him. She lay a hand gently on his shoulder, real concern on her features. "Are you alright?" She asked.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase could hardly focus on breathing at the moment, trying to decide between passing out, or staying consious to make sure that he and Lexi made it safely, and erased any suspicions. It had been pretty risky what he did, and the government for sure would have had a few questions for him. The secret he had worked so hard to preserve over 27 years, he couldn't let it go then. Chase's head spun uncontrollably, the cement beneath him turning weird colors and spinning like a top under his hands.

Something touched his shoulder, a hand. Lexi. Chase took what was left in him, turning so that he could sit on the seat of his pants to face Lexi, while being close to the ground. His blue eyes focused on Lexi, Lexi and her perfect red hair, and a small smile crossed his face. "Lexi-" he croaked in relief, seeing that his effort hadnt been in vain. His body was weak, every muscle searing with a sharp pain. His body was stiff, and to add, he could barely use any of the five senses humans had. "You're okay," he murmured, his palm stroking her cheek before it fell to his side.

"You're okay... You're okay!" His heart began to lift, despite the vomiting overall urge to curl up and die his body had taken on. "Oh, Lexi-!" Chase broke off, throwing his arms around her shoulders and arms. Chase sobbed into lexis shoulder, only seeing her mangled body only minutes before. It was an experience e hoped he never had to deal with again. No more coffee breaks, they'd order in from then on.

"I-I- thought you were gone, that-that I couldn't save you-" chase blubbered, his sculpted cheeks with the structured jaw bone dripping with his salty tears. "Thank god," chase whispered, releasing Lexi awkwardly. His palm patted around for his shirt, struggling in his weekend state to slip it over the redhead.
