Ingrid was ready to settle down on the make shit bed on the floor until he had stopped, she was a little stunned but smiled and nodded gently "I would be honoured." She said and gently kissed his cheek before she climbed into the bed

Mareth smiled uncontrollably when she kissed him on the cheek. He watched her climb into bed and then he got ready to sleep in the bed on the floor. It actually wasn't so bad and he found a comfortable spot easily. "Goodnight ingrid, sweet dreams." He said, still smiling. He went to sleep that way too, corners of his mouth turned up.
Ingrif smiled gently as she found a way to fall asleep, smiling also while she dreamt about what might happen with them, would it be possible to even be with mareth though? She worried it might not
Mareth woke to the sound of a bird outside his window. It was a beautiful morning and a little later in the day than he usually woke up. He stood, running the sleep from his eyes and looked over at Ingrid. She was still asleep so he walked over and knelt beside the bed. He brushed some hair out of her face and said softly, "Ingrid, its time to get up my darling. Good morning sunshine. We haven't much to do today and I thought I might take you to the meadow again. Would you like that? He asked.
Ingrid slowly woke when she heard mareth and felt his gently hand cross over her face. He really was a sweet and kind man. She slowly opened her eyes and looked at him when she listened. "Good morning." She said quietly "I would like that a lot." She said
Mareth smiled happily. He'd never shown anyone else the meadow and he was happy to finally have someone to share it with. He was still knelt net to her and realized he was kind of spacing out and losing himself in her eyes. "Oh, uh, wonderful. I uh, I just... you look very beautiful this morning. Sorry for staring." He said sheepishly.
She blushed softly when he told her she was looking beautiful after only just having woken up, she looked at him again and smiled "thank you kind sir." She said gently
"Please, just Mareth. I'll go ready some food and horses while you get ready. I can show you all of the coolest stuff at the meadow. You only saw the field." He said excitedly.
She smiled with a gentle laugh as he got very excited and she thought it was cute "ok, thank you mareth." She said softly
Mareth ran outside to ready the horse. He was stopped though as he brought around his mount. "Mareth, I hear you have a girl with you! I saw her in the market and am here to ask her hand in marriage. I wish her to be my wife. Do you accept?" Said his enemy Darson. The blood drained from Mareth's face. This was not good. Despite how cruel and mean Darson was, he was a real charmer and was the most popular in town. Surely Ingrid would choose such a suitable contender for her hand over himself. This was bad. "Darson, uh, I will let you know in a second ok? I uh, forgot something inside." He said, scrambling into his house. Ingrid stood there in a pretty dress looking at him with a cocked head. " oh, Ingrid um.... well.... listen, there is a guy out there who, well, he's the most popular in the village and he's asked for your hand in marriage. I... Ingrid... it's, it's up to you. He would be a great provider." He said in a pained voice. He had to be truthful with her so she could choose based on good information. His face fell, all happiness from earlier now vanished and replaced with anxiety. He didn't know what he would do if she said yes to Darson.
Ingrid looked at mareth slightly confused when he came rushing back inside, she listened to what he said though was rather confused. She didn't know what to do. She had only just arrived and already a Viking man other than mareth wished to marry her. She was worried, what should she do? "I .. uh.. mareth." She muttered out slowly. "I do not know." She said, scared she might say yes but she did not know this other man, she did not know what he was like.
"Ingrid, this is up to you, but he's not nice. He's unnecessarily cruel and a brute. That is my opinion, but he could make a great provider. Ingrid, I... I wish you wouldn't Ingrid. I have feelings for you and I think I could provide for you. Maybe not in the same popularity but it would be ok. What I'm trying to say... I.... marry me instead Ingrid?" He pleaded.
Ingrid didn't care about popularity, she had always been that way, she wanted a man who was going to be truthful and kind, if Darwin was not that she did not wish to be with him. She looked at mareth when he pleaded for her to marry him. "May I see the man?" She asked him
Mareth's face fell. "Yes." He said and lead her outside to where Darson was waiting. "Hello, little lady. I hear you are from a far off land. I like that." Said Darson when he saw them emerge form Mareth's humble house. "That's him." Said Mareth.
Ingrid looked at mareth then back at darson, she smiled gently at him though she could not be with him. "I am sorry." She said softly "I am afraid I have to decline your offer." She said to him
Carson looked at her with amusement. "Oh my dear, it is not your decision to make. Mareth, will you marry her to me or not?" He asked, an edge in his voice. Mareth was still staring at Ingrid with a smile. He mounted his horse and helped Ingrid up behind him with all of their picnic stuff and replied, "sorry Darson, I will have to decline your offer." He said, and just like that took off on his horse with Ingrid, riding off to his meadow.
Ingrid looked at darson again with a small raised eyebrow, she then looked back at mareth with a gentle smile as darson asked him, she hoped he would say no. When he did and helped her up into his horse and smiled happily when holding on, looking at darson softly. "Sorry sir." She said
They rode off, Darson shouting obscenities at Mareth who laughed gleefully, when they got out of town, he slowed the horse to a walk and twisted in his seat to turn and hug Ingrid. "You will stay with me then?" He asked hopefully.
Ingrid looked at him when he turn in the seat, she had been holding onto him during the ride. Her smile lit up her face. "Yes, I told you last night I like you." She said
"Yes, er, it's a little hard to believe though. No one has ever shown that kind of interest in me before." He said, a shy smile playing out on his face as he embraced her.
She smiled some when she looked at him and hugged him "well you are handsome and a true gentleman, even if you are a Viking." She said then looked at his face and hair "but you could do with a haircut." She teased
Mareth beamed when she complimented him. "Ah, yes. I could use a haircut. Usually I do it myself and I just have not had the time as of late." He said, ruffling his own shaggy hair.
She looked at him again, smiling "let me cut it." She said to him excitedly, she would love to cut it short."
Mareth gave her a wary look, but seeing the excitement in her eyes he gave in. "I'm going to regret this, but sure, you can cut it once we get back if you like. I can hardly say no to you." He responded with a smile.
She laughed gently when she looked at him again, smiling some more "when we get back." She said, she gently kissed his cheek then looked around "the meadow?"
"Haha, it's up ahead I've never showed anyone else ya know, as I'm sure you learned from vikus last night." They crested a hill and the meadow came into view, as beautiful and pure as ever. Ingrid had seen it once.before but she hadn't seen the stream, the pond, or the wild horses that roamed the wildflowers.
Ingrid looked at him once again with a small smile then looked around the meadow, her smile grew at the honest beauty of it. "Do you believe your earl will allow us to wed?" She asked
Mareth was a little taken by the question but responded, "yes I believe so. You are considered by them my property so I can do what I please with you so if that includes marriage, then they must allow it. I'm afraid I will only be considered more of an outcast but I'm already considered one so it matters not." He dismounted his horse and helped her down. Then he got on his knee, "speaking of getting married. I never got to ask properly. Ingrid, will you marry me?" He said, holding out to her his mothers old ring. She'd given it to him the night he'd been parted from her and he carried it with him wherever he went.
Ingrid believed in him, if he was certain that his earl would allow it then she was happy with that. She wanted to be with him, it was a new beginning for them. For her. She used his help to get down then blushed softly and smiled "really, yes." She said happily
Mareth slid the ring onto her finger and then rose, pulling her close. She looked at him with a soft smile and he looked at her with a gentle grin. Then he closed the distance and pressed a soft kiss onto her lips.
She watched as he gently slid the ring onto her finger then rose, she admired it for a moment then looked back at mareth and admired him, soon her lips were met with his
The kiss was soft and lasted a few seconds. When they parted, he smiled widely and lifted her into the air by her waist and spun her around. "Ingrid, I'm so glad I found you. Though I regret the manner in which I found you, Im glad we met all the same." He said to her.
She laughed softly and held onto his shoulders when he lifted her up and spun her around, she was enjoying their time together and he was simply wonderful to her. Li am too." She said
He took her hand and grabbed the reins of the horse and started to lead her to the pond. "Here, I wanna show you the pond first. It's so clear, it looks like a sheet of glass that was placed over a hole!" He said excitedly.
She laughed gently when she looked at him and smiled "you are very cute when your excited. Really not like a Viking man." She said happily.
Mareth blushed at her comment. "Well Ian not Viking born so that might be it, but it's a lot more fun to get excited and happy about things, rather than being dark and brooding all the time." He said with a laugh.
She smiled and nodded gently, walking along with him to the pond, she gently stroked the horse as they approved the pond. "It's nice of, I like it very much." She said to him
He smiled at her praise. They walked closer to the pond and admired its rare clarity. Ingrid was impressed by the sight of it and intrigued by its beautiful qualities. "I'm not sure why it is so incredibly clear, but a drink from the water is the cleanest and purest you will ever have the pleasure of tasting." He promised, moving to the bank.
She stayed close to his horse as he went closer to the bank, she wanted him to drink it first before she would. She also liked petting his horse. Once he had a drink she moved down, cupping her hands and scooping some water up to drink from
Mareth smiled as he watched her drink the water. "It is good is it not? Also, I hope you don't mind, but I have one more surprise for you, I do not have it now, but I should before the day is through." He explained with a smile.
"It is good, very good indeed." She said happily then looked at him again as she wiped her mouth free of dropping water. "Another surprise?" She asked and smiled
"Yes, and I think you will like it a lot. But we must be patient. I'm the mean time, would yo like to see the stream that runs through the north side of the meadow?" He asked, mounting us horse and offering a hand to help her up behind him.
She looked up at mareth when he once again offered her his hand. "May I?" She asked, looking at mareth and then the reins, she wished to be in front. She loved horses and would always ride them back in her old village.
Mareth smiled when she asked to ride. That meant his planned surprise would be perfect. "Why of course m'lady." He said, scooting to the back of the saddle. She smiled at him as she mounted in front of him and grabbed the reins. "The stream is that way." he directed, point to their right.
She smiled as she mounted after he agreed to let her take the reins, she nodded gently at his direction, using the reins to get the horse moving "hold on." She said joking to him
Mareth, responding to her comment, wrapped her in a tight hug. "Like this?" He asked jokingly. He laughed as she looked back at him and rolled her eyes.
She laughed when she looked back but also rolled her eyes, she looked forwards again and lead their horse to the rivers entrance.
The stream was maybe 50 ft across and was up to Mareth's knees at its deepest point. He pointed out to Ingrid the jumping trout that inhabited the shallow waters. "Fishing here is quite good if you've got the right bait." He said.
She smiled as she looked out to the river and watched the fish "wow, its beautiful." She said to him
He smiled, but just then, a flash of movement caught his eye. A group of wild horses were thundering through the field, galloping like the wind. Mareth smiled and removed a rope from his bag. "Ingrid, tell me the color of the horse that catches your eye. Oh, and I'll need you to dismount for a bit." He said gathering his rope and tying off a lasso.
