Natasha Romanoff | 26 comments Hello Everyone!!!!!!!! My name is Faith (aka Little Duckling). I started the topic Feminism Among High School Students and after making that topic thread I realized something, "there are a lot of high school girls in this group who are just like me: scared to stand up for fear of being rejected or not being heard." So I wanted to start a topic thread with a challenge!! I want to limit this discussion to members who are in middle school, high school, or college, because I want us to stand together and encourage each other, together our voice will be heard. So here is the challenge:
1. Tell your name and what grade you are in.
2. Tell one of your favorite or hardest experience of being a feminist while attending school.
3. Write something encouraging you have learned or want to share with the rest of us feminists who are in school.

Here is mine:
My name is Faith and I am in 9th grade, a freshman.
My hardest experience as a feminist happened a couple of days ago and is what inspired me to start this thread. We read an article about a woman who was raped. The class then discussed it and a majority of the kids were saying things like, "oh she was asking for it with being drunk and the way she was dressed." I stood up and then gave a very passionate spiel on how no one can ask for rape and stated my beliefs. My whole class and teacher disagreed with me and I got very discouraged.
To every other feminist who is in school I want to say: don't give up. I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true. You are young, but that doesn't mean your opinions don't matter or should be pushed aside. Stand up for yourself and everything you believe in. Shout it from the rooftops if you have to. And last, but not least don't let anyone tell you your views don't matter and that your voice will never be heard, it will, if you want people to hear it.

Hannah Wiedmeyer My name is Hannah. I am a sophomore in college. One challenge I found of being a feminist isn't really from school but from my dad because he has preconceived notions that feminists are "crazy". Also some people at school do not understand feminism. I find it's easier to overcome catcalls ( which happens a lot) knowing I'm a strong feminist because I won't stand for it. I will tell off the men who do it and they realize I mean business. They instantly back off and it's nice to know that I have some power. I encourage other girls to do the same. You don't have to be mean. You just have to be strong.
