message 1: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Today I decided to check out a few book blogs and came across this article...page...?? on book covers

This is the link
http://allthingsuf.com/2017/04/cover-...

The Unlikeable Demon Hunter (Nava Katz, #1) by Deborah Wilde Apex (Hunter, #3) by Mercedes Lackey

I thought they were fantastic.

Their favorite was
The Language of Thorns Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo Immortal Reign (Falling Kingdoms, #6) by Morgan Rhodes

Back when I purchased most of my books from a bookstore a good book cover could sometimes be the key to me taking a chance on a new paperback. Now with the ebook I see them but I kind of don't.

I was just wondering if anyone has seen any lovely ones and they do not need to be UF/PNR jus fabulous.

LOL clearly I did not either :-)

It has been awhile since I visited that blog and I must admist I was glad they are still around. I think a few I used to follow have been taken down

They aren't as active as they used to be and the people have changed, but it's not a bad one.

Lauren (laurenjberman) I used to visit the blog often but haven't in quite a while.

Like Dawn, the cover used to play a significant part in my reading choices but since getting a Kindle and iPad, that is less of a factor.

One of the best books that I've read chosen based solely on the cover was Blood on Silk (Awakened by Blood, #1) by Marie Treanor

Leigh | 1219 comments Here are a few that I love: RoseBlood by A.G. Howard Twilight at Blueberry Barrens (Sunset Cove #3) by Colleen Coble Splintered (Splintered, #1) by A.G. Howard Unhinged (Splintered, #2) by A.G. Howard Ensnared (Splintered, #3) by A.G. Howard Torn (A Wicked Saga, #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is an example of liking the cover but the story not so much. Snow White Lies by Sarah J. Pepper

I still like looking at the covers even though ebooks or audio are what I read.

message 7: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments Actually, looking at the covers on Goodreads, on a big screen, sort of fulfills my lusting after covers.

As to that blog - I disagreed with most of what they said. And James is ageist - stating that the model was too old to wear a hoodie - how does that make me feel when I occasionally wear a hoodie & I'm in my later 50's? I did like that Immortal Reign (Falling Kingdoms, #6) by Morgan Rhodes one, reminded me of Assassin's Creed though.

I also liked The Castaways by Jessika Fleck Apex (Hunter, #3) by Mercedes Lackey

Rachel Chanticleer (rachelchanticleer) | 8 comments Wow. Yeah, I can't really say that I agree with them that much either.

O_O

Taste in covers and books in general is just such a subjective thing and you can't please everyone. ☺
