The Aaron Hernandez Thread

I looked in the GR database to see what there might be on Hernandez, just out of curiosity, and to my surprise there were already several titles extant -- one of them calling him the first serial killer in pro sports. That naturally started me scratching my head. Where to shelve this dude? He was acquitted of 2 of the 3 murders, none of which appears to be motivated by a personal sexual kink (like BTK) or mental illness (like Rick Chase), so I can't call him a serial killer with a clear conscience. He definitely fits under "crimes among the rich and famous," but I can't decide whether the Odin Lloyd killing fits neatly under "revenge." And let's be real -- I have hardly followed this case at all and can't even form an opinion of any of this.

Can someone fill me in on this dude? I'm not about to read an instant paperback like the ones I found here at GR and assume I really known anything about Aaron Hernandez.

I never paid much attention to this guy only because he was a millionaire etc. But I would really like to read about his growing up years leading up to losing his dad at the age of 16. If I ever locate something about it Fishface, I will let you know. ....yeah right...lol

Is there a category for just "gang related" deaths? He was more of a gang banger than a serial killer. Serial killers have MOs and signatures. This guy just gunned down two people who spilled drinks on him, and then the one guy who knew about it. He really was known as a gang banging thug. Many people were upset he was drafted because he was that much of a menace.

Of course, my limited knowledge of him comes from the True Crime Garage podcast, so I'm sure a grain of salt is called for.

Maybe he belongs in the same category as a few rappers who haven't been able to leave the gang life behind? Thug life, is that what it's called?

Hmm, I've been lumping that under "organized crime." Is that what these murders were about? Thuggery? As I say I've barely followed the case at all.
