Suggested
break down of reading so that you can check in and let us know how you're doing. The following breakdown is purely a suggestion and is therefore not set in stone.Rather than putting dates for each section I've done it so that it takes into account that not everybody will necessarily have the book at the same time.
Week 1: 232.75
Week 2: 232.75
Week 3: 232.75
Week 4: 232.75
I'm really hoping I don't have to sit this one out, but I'm still not done with Wizard and Glass. Yikes!!

I finished Wizard and Glass last night so I am going to start Wolves of the Calla next week with the group. I don't know if I'll be able to finish it in a month but I'll see how it goes! :)
Finally started Wolves of the Calla and I'm already grinning at the possibility of The Magnificent Seven reinterpreted by S.K. This should be excellent!
There have been a couple of passing mentions of Roland's hip hurting. Have I forgotten an injury in Book 4?
I noticed that too and I don't remember anything about his hip! He did just admit that he was "getting old" (I'm in the middle of chapter 6).
Oh, I so wish I had time to re-read this series right now! I LOVED it when I read it many years back! It is one of my most favorite series. Maybe next year....In any case, I am truly enjoying the conversations here!
At about 35% and Roland just did his rice song dance. I am loving this book so far. The gunslingers seem ready for any challenge.
I'm at 78% and I've got a feeling that this might be my favorite of the series. I haven't once wished to get to the good part...because it's ALL good!
Stayed up late to finish last night. Excellent and wonderful and thrilling Magnificent Seven retelling. Every character has a chance to shine.
Finished it but I just didn't get into it like the others. The main story was pretty good but I just felt it had too many backstories that didn't seem to add much.On to the next book ... ( whatever it's called..)
Y'all, I FINISHED!!! YAY!So that being said, it really scares me that I didn't remember much about this book. I would have read it right when it came out in 2003. Granted, I've probably read close to 1,000 books since then (maybe even more) but it's still weird. There are so many things that have stuck in my mind from the first 3 books, but not this one. But I think I've read the first 3 books at least 3 times so maybe that's why.
I actually struggled with this one. The first 600 pages or so moved slowly for me and then the last 100 were really action packed. Maybe I had a hard time when I read it the first time too.
Glad you're finished Catherine. I just blew through this one because I confident of where the story would go....lots of slow build-up to the big finish. I enjoyed this one the most so far in the series. It was the perfect book for me when I read it, and from the start I was sure it would be good. As for not remembering the details of a book you read 14 years ago, give yourself a break. So what if I sometimes can't remember titles without goodreads and a glance to the summary. It's entertainment and not everything we read gets out entire attention. Some books stand out in my mind in crystal detail without prompting (Killing Floor), others (Echo Burning) not so much. They are both great stories, I rated both five stars.
It would be amazing to have perfect recall, but those characters with photographic memories are just a plot device. I purposefully forget who they are because I hate and envy them so much. :-)
One thing for me is the person doing the audiobook reading was different for this one then books 2-4 in the series. Both are really great but the one doing 2-4 seem to bring them to life more. I also had issues with the first book which was read by the same as book 5. I really like the first book but I also read the text along with listening to the audiobook. I didn't get a few things until I actually read it...
