What book is your favorite? And why?
The Boy with the Bread and the Girl on Fire or Tris and Four?

Caity (adivineeternity) | 19 comments Of these two? Hunger Games, definitely. Divergent started at okay and went downhill rather rapidly from there.

Divergent for me. I was more captivated with the characters than in Hunger Games

message 4: by Erica (new)

Erica Hunger games. I feel like it had a stronger story arc and I liked the characters more. Divergent I enjoyed but I wasn't a fan of the second or third book.

It's more interesting to see people struggle to choose the better of the two bests... SOOOO, what's your favorite?

Have to say Divergent because I didn't enjoy the end of mocking jay. Whereas I couldn't put down Divergent. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the next book.

Agree with the dislike toward the end of MockingJay... However, Divergent was good, then fell and crashed...
But I see why you didn't like Hunger Games...

Emily McQueen (mcqueeny) THE HUNGER GAMES! I mean I liked the divergent world but I couldn't connect to the characters... The Hunger Games was more darker in my opinion and that's also why I liked THG more than Divergent.

I can't choose. They may both be dystopian novels, but they are very different.

I have to agree with you...

Emma Hunger Games, even with how Mockingjay ended. Divergent started out strong with the first book, but the second went downhill to the point I've never bothered to read the third.

Randall Dunn (randallallendunn) | 3 comments Take my current feedback with a grain of salt. I waited for years to find a book I would actually want to devote my time to, when I finally came across Divergent. The writing style of first-person, present-tense really gripped me, and I loved the whole scenario, that seemed much fresher than other dystopian concepts (although I later learned that it, and probably Hunger Games & other books, borrowed ideas from The Giver). Divergent was definitely the best of the series, and the 2nd book was good. The 3rd book fell apart, trading off between the characters' perspectives for no reason, and ending it in a totally unnecessary & unmeaningful way.
I tried reading Hunger Games and couldn't get into it. Other people told me the same thing. The writing style just didn't appeal to me. But I plan to make time to read the series later on, and I believe it's a great series that I should read.

Okay! Great that you liked (or loved?) Divergent!

Yes, I DID love Divergent. The first book was phenomenal and kept me hooked. The second was good, but not as good, and the third tanked. But I'll give Hunger Games another chance sometime in the future.
(:^D

I though Divergent was much better as a book series, but I had more fun reading The Hunger Games.
In my opinion, all the Divergent books are very good, but they weren't a good read for me. I didn't enjoy them because of the tedious romance, but I noticed the quality in them.
The Hunger games and Mockingjay were good books. Catching Fire, not so much. But I didn't feel as uncomfortable reading The Hunger Games as I did Divergent.
In the end, though, I still think The Maze Runner is the best YA book series.

Interesting! Did you read both prequels to The Maze Runner series as well? :)

I liked the first book of all three books series, but in my opinion these series all went pretty downwards after the first book. I read the first prequel, is the other prequel worth reading?

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Not at all. Free Four is very short and doesn't serve much of a purpose.

I have. I liked The Kill Order, and I thought The Fever Code was phenomenal.
