Yes, awful. She's ruined so many films that would have been a thousand times better without her--ie, Chicago. She should just stick to Briget Jones.

Like one of those gross soft plastic octopuses that you get from gum machines, the ones that stick to walls.
her sinewy shoulder tension and facial puckering makes me squirmy like a kid in need of a good nap. she has an entire body squint-- how? then she speaks. eeeek. stop. and grow your hair out, it made you appear softer. fucking RZ.
her voice, her red puffy face, her emaciated frame--it's all loathsome. plus, she went to the same college as me and a friend of mine that works there said she doesn't donate. which, ok, it's not that heinous to NOT donate to your former college--but when you're rich and famous and other famous alum like smelly matthew mcconaughey and 70s hottie farrah fawcett can do it, then why can't you?
omg thank you. I can't stand her and I thought I was the lone voice in the wilderness. I love how you said she was pinchy... and how she has a whole body squint. Pefectly articulated. When I heard that she said the couldn't stand weighing 130 lbs and was so glad to weigh 105 lbs again... I decided she was perhaps the most annoying person I had ever heard of. Emaciated little snack chip.
I can't stand Renee Zellweger in pretty much any movie except Bridget Jones. I love her in that movie... she looked healthy with meat on her bones. A couple of months ago, I was watching it and I was saying to my husband it was the only movie that I enjoy her performance in because she's not so squinty. My husband then drops the bombshell on me that he thinks she is hot (as in REALLY hot). My jaw dropped and I just stared at him. This is the man I have been with for over six years and he harbors the deep, dark, nasty secret of thinking that RZ is hot. He actually said he didn't get what I was freaking out about regarding "the squint, squench factor". I started waving my arms around and generally having a fit. He told me that the movie he thinks she's best in is... wait for it... Jerry F'ing Maguire!!!
We have agreed not to discuss the Zellweger again because the therapy bills were too high the last time.
;)
The squeaky voice is definitely irritating... but I didn't mind her in Empire Records. (I'll slink outta here now)
funny how this topic should come up right now. i stumbled across EMPIRE RECORDS on fuse last weekend, and it took me a full 10 minute conversation between her and liv tyler before i realized it was rene zellweger. she was so much cuter back then... i think she must have either yoyo'ed too much with her weight, or gotten some scary plastic surgery.
How did I miss that? I Love Joey Lauren Adams though!!!
Well, you didn't miss it! What part?
I'll re-watch that scene and see if I can spot her. I LOVE me some Parker Posey too..."HeHeHeHello!!!!!" Party Girl was the shit!
Huh?...What?...Renee who?...Oh yeah, sorry.

Have you watched her in Best in Show? That was so damn funny...she's great!
I'd just about do her in Party Girl...
I'd just about do her in Party Girl...
I remember liking Renee Zellweger in "Love and a .45," but there was also hot Gil Bellows to look at.
Better look, but not nearly as funny of a movie.
A Mighty Wind was a better movie than Waiting for Guffman, and she was cute in that, in a REALLY chipper sort of way. Smaller part though.
I like them all mind you, but WfG was the least among them.
What surprised me was that she did You've Got Mail. Didn't seem her sort of movie...

I haven't seen A Mighty Wind, but I absolutely love Waiting for Guffman.Man, If I could score me some Dinner with Andre action figures I'd be the coolest kid on the block.
I thought Waiting for Guffman was better than Best in Show and A Mighty Wind.Did anyone see Parker Posey in The Doom Generation? I love her.
Oh God! The Doom Generation. I think Maurice threw that videotape (I will admit we owned it for a milisecond) out into the street one day.
Meg Swan: I didn't ask for your opinion. I asked for a toy that you don't have! ... Where is the Busy Bee??!!!
it's funny how this thread went from hating renee zelwegger (sp) to loving parker posey. i love parker posey too! which is why i got excited about this new show she's on with the red-headed chick from 6 feet under. sad to say though, it suuuuucks!i was bummed.
but speaking of 6 feet under, i love Dexter. i don't have cable so i'm glad it came to CBS, even if it is censored.
Six Feet Under started out great, I have the first 4-5 seasons on DVD (can't remember)...but that last one just lost me. They all basically started screwing anything that stood still, and the whole plot with Nate and Brenda got a little tired.
I hate that you all made me re-join this group so that I could say that Waiting for Guffman is the best of all the Christopher Guest mockumentaries. My opinion might have something to do with the fact that it is about putting on a show. If you were all here with me in person right now, I would demonstrate Corky's choreography.Best in Show is my second favorite, though. The scene where Parker Posey is in the pet store looking to buy a bee is my favorite. "It's a bear in a bee suit." When talking about my dog's toys, I always make the hand guesture she makes when describing the bee.
Back to the original topic here, I loved Bridget Jones (though that had nothing to do with Colin Firth, of course -- ooh, another one for the Axis thread) but agree that Renee Zellweger is both too skinny and too squinty. Her whole face looks swollen. She's filming a movie right now with My Favorite Person Ever so I suppose I'll have to go see it.
i think dexter might just be my favorite new (well, new to me. i missed out because i didn't have showtime, but this is why i love the internet) show. how is it on CBS? still all chopped up hookers and hotel rooms full of blood with screwball dialogue? michael c. hall was soooooo underutilized on six feet under (although david was probably my favorite character anyway).
Briefly: New Parker Posey show: breathtakingly awful. Dazed and Confused: looks like a documentary of my high school. Christopher Guest: uniformly brilliant, until that last one. Guffman might be the best. Not counting Spinal Tap, as that wasn't his. Dexter: great stuff.
