SOLVED. SciFi/Fantasy/Parallel universe/Blue building. [s]

Read this book about 10 years ago (2007) about a man finding a special coin, inserting it into a slot machine and arriving in a parallel universe with a robot and a woman.
The universe contains many marvels such as a tower creating haunting sound and most memorable for me, a blue building surrounded by a strip of sand with a defensive mechanism to keep from entering it no obvious door...
I remember the ending, but won't spoiler it...
