Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments Literally all you have to do is read books and cross of descriptions :) You can also do buddy read for any extra points :)

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments Bianca- I've just completed the ghostgirl series and yes I adore the adventures of Charlotte Usher. :)

TJ- I'm reading it on my kindle and it's from netgalley so I don't really have page numbers but I've just started chapter 22. Do you still want to buddy read it?

I will check back with you and see how you are doing. If we have to move it a bit back it's fine.

I set up a link and you have to write a review for this book 4 times in that buddy link. That is all you do to buddy read. I am starting this with you today Ananya

T.J. Burns | 2698 comments Hi Everyone!

Sorry, I haven't been able to read for two days -- real life just keeps getting in the way of my fantasy life!

I asked Sarah about the 1995 category:
"What year is it? Read a book published in 1995."

Does the book have to be first published in 1995, or can a new edition be published in 1995?

And Sarah wrote:
Sarah wrote: "It can be any edition ☺"

So, yay!

I noticed, Susan, you asked about the 800 pages -- and it can be the total of more than one book (one person has to read the 800 pages, though, it can't be split among team members).

T.J. Burns | 2698 comments Elizabeth Emily wrote: "TJ- buddy reading it would be fine by me! Would I still get buddy read points? Do you have the forever court? I got it from netgalley and they came as both together one after the other:)"

I'm on Chapter 11, so a buddy read would be great. I'll set it up. Unfortunately, I only have the first book -- I believe the second book (2 book set) was only offered on Netgalley to readers in the UK.

You can only get buddy read points if you started the book in May and have the start date set in May on your review. Otherwise, you can still get pages points.

Susan (jazzescrapper) | 2605 comments TJ- we were scheduled for a buddy read for A List of Cages by Robin Roe on the 17th. I just finished the book I was reading and wanted to see if you were ready for our buddy read? I am ready if you are :)

message 127: by T.J. (new)

T.J. Burns | 2698 comments Susan -- I'm afraid I'm not yet.
I'm reading The Lost City of Z A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann for my book club on Tuesday and I am reading Bug Girl (Bug Girl, #1) by Benjamin Harper with my daughter.

I've had to push my buddy read for Age of Myth (The Legends of the First Empire, #1) by Michael J. Sullivan back to May 24th to accommodate.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Since the author, Michael J. Sullivan, has set up a page for us to chat with him while we're reading, I'm excited to read this one.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Anyone want to join?

I do want to read A List of Cages by Robin Roe soon, just not sure if I'll be able to swing it this month. Was there someone else participating in that read, Susan? If not, do you want to read it early next month with me? I have committed to another buddy read on May 29th: The Girl with the Red Balloon (The Balloonmakers, #1) by Katherine Locke .

On another note, I finished Knights of the Borrowed Dark (Knights of the Borrowed Dark #1) by Dave Rudden (still have to post my notes in the buddy read) and The Kindness Club (The Kindness Club, #1) by Courtney Sheinmel , but still have to write reviews for both.

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments I'm currently reading:
Crooked Kingdom
The Forever Court
Shiver

I'm hoping to get them all completed before the end of the challenge or the first two at least. This months flown by.

Ananya | 252 comments Hey guys, I just finished reading the testing The Testing (The Testing, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau but I'm not really sure as to which category this can fall under. If I cannot find anything, I was thinking of finishing the trilogy and using the 3 books for the category in which we have to read 800 pages total. Is that fine? :)

message 131: by Bianca (new)

Bianca Sy (sy_bianca) I've been super duper busy these past few days I cannot finish reading Gemina (The Illuminae Files, #2) by Amie Kaufman . :/
But I'll do my best to finish the book this week. And I'll finish The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky within this day! ^_^

(Reality is my enemy here. asdfghjkl)

T.J. Burns | 2698 comments Elizabeth Emily wrote: "I'm hoping to get them all completed before the end of the challenge or the first two at least. This months flown by. "

I know what you mean!

I'm trying to fill in the holes so that we can complete the sections (and get 10 points per section).

I still have to write two reviews: Knights of the Borrowed Dark (Knights of the Borrowed Dark #1) by Dave Rudden and The Kindness Club (The Kindness Club, #1) by Courtney Sheinmel .

I also read two classics: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Oz, #1) by L. Frank Baum and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll , which are really versatile because they fit into 12-13 categories, so I can stuff holes with them. ;)

I am currently reading Bug Girl (Bug Girl, #1) by Benjamin Harper and The Lost City of Z A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann , and have two more buddy reads scheduled: Age of Myth (The Legends of the First Empire, #1) by Michael J. Sullivan and The Girl with the Red Balloon (The Balloonmakers, #1) by Katherine Locke , but I don't know if I'll get either of them done this month...

I might read Sunbaked by Junie Coffey for the beach -- it looks like a quick, interesting read...

We definitely need the 800 pages, but I've found some additional alternatives just in case:
De test (The Testing, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau or Die Auslese (The Testing, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau Read a book with soil/earth/ digging equipment/ something buried, or a box or trunk on the cover. Or a book with a brown cover.

I put Alice's Adventures in Wonderland under brown cover, but I can move it.

Another possibility for brown cover could be: Just One Day (Just One Day, #1) by Gayle Forman or Por trece razones by Jay Asher (soil/earth) -- since we have 13 Reasons Why 3 times under bullying, we could move one if need be.

Jordan hasn't posted any of her reviews yet. Susan -- are you still planning to read Royce Rolls? If not, Jordan could post her Raven Boys review there.

More for The Testing:
Испытание (Испытание, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau Book with shoes or trainers on the cover
I've got The Kindness Club there now, and I don't think I can find anywhere else to put it.

It could also go under fantasy, but we have enough of those already too. Maybe the 800 pages is still the best way to go.

T.J. Burns | 2698 comments Could I ask everyone to update the spreadsheet please? Especially with the color coating -- finished reading, currently reading, planning to read, and maybe. I'm strategizing how we can move books around during the last couple of days for maximal points, and it would be easier if I knew which books will likely be finished by the end of the month.

message 139: by Elizabeth Emily (new)

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments That's on my to read though I don't know if I'll ever get round to it haha I've still got a throne of glass series to finish yet. Are all the books out for that yet?

message 140: by Ananya (new)

Ananya | 252 comments No!! There are still 2 more books left to the series. You have to read the series up till Empire of Storms - you will not regret it (also, you will die alongside the rest of the fandom waiting for the next books) - I plan to reread the series sometime soon again :")

message 141: by T.J. (last edited May 25, 2017 07:53AM) (new)

T.J. Burns | 2698 comments Susan, you could post Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1) by Kerri Maniscalco under "Watch out for that Lion! Find something even scarier! Read a horror story!" because no one has posted there yet. Ally is supposed to read "The Deep", but she hasn't color-coded it as "currently reading" yet.

message 142: by Elizabeth Emily (new)

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments I have completed Crooked Kingdom so I'm now trying to complete the Forever Court.

message 143: by Elizabeth Emily (new)

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments I'm up to queen of shadows on throne of glass I need to buy empire of storms and hopefully I'll read a Court of sometime this year or next.

message 144: by T.J. (new)

T.J. Burns | 2698 comments I read Sunbaked by Junie Coffey to cover the beach topic. Still need to write a review (and two others).

Just started my buddy read for Age of Myth (The Legends of the First Empire, #1) by Michael J. Sullivan .

message 145: by Elizabeth Emily (new)

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments I have just completed Forever Court. I just need to write my reviews. I have some really long days at work so I'm not gonna be able to read anything so this will probably be the last book that I complete for this challenge.

message 146: by Susan (new)

Susan (jazzescrapper) | 2605 comments I never would have pegged that book as a horror book. It was so not but I can do that. Also I have NO CLUE how to color code the spreadsheet

message 147: by Susan (new)

Susan (jazzescrapper) | 2605 comments So I see they put me where I had originally put my book for and whoever color coded it for me (Thank you whoever did that because I have tried to figure it out and cannot) How do I move it to the horror description?

message 148: by T.J. (new)

T.J. Burns | 2698 comments Susan wrote: "I never would have pegged that book as a horror book. It was so not but I can do that. Also I have NO CLUE how to color code the spreadsheet"

Ha! 114 users labeled it as horror, so we can use it! Just go to the review page and ask to move your review to the horror category.
The moderators are used to it. I've been trying to update the chart according to what people have posted. What are you reading now, Susan?

I'm planning to move books all around this week so that we can close off as many categories as possible for 10 points each. That alone will catch us up to group 2 (providing they are not doing the same -- I haven't looked ;) ). We will have enough books to close out all four parts, we just need to reshuffle. And some of us, including me, still need to post reviews of books we've finished.

I posted Sunbaked by Junie Coffey today for beach (it could also be used for missing person).
