Mickey failed to recognize that his client, Jesus Menendez, was innocent and seemed to imply his defense strategy would have been different. Should he feel guilty? Is Jesus justified in his wrath against Mickey?

I don't know how much Mickey could have done for Jesus at the time. The circumstantial evidence was solid. Mickey was just concentrating on keeping Jesus off of death row. If Mickey had believed that his client was innocent, I don't know what other defense strategy he could have used.

Based on the evidence that Mickey has at the time, there was nothing he could have done differently. Everything is always clearer with 20/20 hindsight.

He's always going to feel guilty about not recognizing his innocence and the fact that he didn't see it bothers him more than anything else. I thought he was questioning his ability to ever be able to recognize it.

Of course, it's completely understandable why Jesus feels bitter. He was treated brutally in jail and contracted HIV. It's easiest for him to blame Mickey because he was his last barrier from jail.

It was just a bad situation all around. Maybe Mickey would have looked deeper into like crimes. Who knows.
