He's always going to feel guilty about not recognizing his innocence and the fact that he didn't see it bothers him more than anything else. I thought he was questioning his ability to ever be able to recognize it.
Of course, it's completely understandable why Jesus feels bitter. He was treated brutally in jail and contracted HIV. It's easiest for him to blame Mickey because he was his last barrier from jail.
It was just a bad situation all around. Maybe Mickey would have looked deeper into like crimes. Who knows.
