What was the first book you remember reading by yourself?

I read Mrs. Coverlet's Magicians. I never heard of anyone else who read this book, but it got me through three years of book reports.

The first chapter books I remember reading were the Boxcar Children. I'm the youngest, so combined my older siblings had grown a collection of about the first eighty or ninety in the series. I was entertained for quite a while :D
