Set in 2120, the world is a very different place eighty years after a smallpox pandemic decimates the global population. Fewer than eight million people now populate the planet. There's no more refining, manufacturing, electricity production, no governments, no cities. The survivors are living by scavenging from what remains in long abandoned stores, warehouses, etc.

One young man, an atheist, realizes there has to be more to life than mere survival. He determines to restart civilization. He encounters a mysterious stranger who comes along side to help him fulfill his dream.

The project is threatened from within by the two's own sharp disagreements and from without by violent groups who have a decidedly different view of the future. The two men must grapple with philosophical differences regarding violence and religious tolerance in a world where the margin of survival doesn't permit mistakes.

In the words of one Amazon reader, Outlander Chronicles: Phoenix is distinguished from other post-apocalyptic fictions by one thing: hope.

Werner | 2276 comments Chris, post-apocalyptic scenarios always intrigue me, so I just added your book to my "maybe to read" shelf. (And the only reason I didn't go all the way and add it to "to read" is that there are already 397 books on that shelf, and I'm trying to reduce the total before I add any more!) Best wishes for success with your writing.

Understood. I have two shelves of hardcopy "to read" books sitting behind me as I type. If you get to it, I hope you enjoy it! :)
