Do you think it'll make a better tv show or movie?

Personally I believe it will be better as a movie just like The Fault In Our Stars was. Because of the way Alaska's fate is presented so quickly it will be a lot easier and effective to be a movie.

I'm not sure it would be good for either (which is maybe why Paramount, who have the film rights, have not gone ahead with it). On the whole the screen does action & place well but isn't so good at expressing feelings (with notable exceptions of course) and the written word handles feelings better. Looking for Alaska relies on intense feeling, and the loss and yearning suffered by Miles is intensely painful when you read it. However, some of the Weekday Warriors stuff and the other pranks would be good in a movie.

I certainly wouldn't watch it as a movie, mainly because I'm not a big fan of Pudge. The way Alaska leads him on and plays with his feelings is just squirm-worthy and annoying.I must admit I would kinda like the Colonel and even Alaska a bit.But the book has lots of detail to emotions and a movie wouldn't be able to convey that.I agree with Phil that their pranks would be awesome and I absolutely LOVE their rapping.Anyone remember the rapping showdown they did in the forest after they pull a prank on the Eagle?

I agree with both Phil and Jasmine. While I'm not sure it would be good for either, I do believe a series would tell the story better. And with more time for character development (for Pudge's character). I also want to add the rapping showdown was amazing. Haha

I think it would make a better movie just because how quickly everything happens. If it were a tv show they would have to do major work to lengthen the events that happen.

I think making this book a movie or a show will definetly ruin its beauty..this thing happened a lot to many other books and i think its way much better to give the freedom to the reader to imagine the characters and events the way he/she wants ...

I feel as though there isn't enough substance in the book to create an entire tv show so a movie would be a better option

Neither.

If they want to turn it into something like 13 Reasons Why, sure, make a TV show out of it. However, to stay true to the book, I think a movie would be much better.

I'm surprised this wasn't already turned into a movie. It was my first John Green book.

I agree that the movie would be a better direction. For some reason I cannot picture this being a "huge" movies like the Fault in our Stars, I kind of picture it as a indie type film.

I feel like, besides the characterization, there isn't enough plot to the actual book itself to create an entire TV series. Not to mention that the way the book is formatted into the "before" and "after" format it might not make much sense anyway. I feel like rather than a TV series I would be more well-done as a two-part Netflix special with the "before" and "after formatting" or as a slightly longer movie.

I think it would be better as a movie.
