"I'll get it!" I yell as I plop a cardboard box down on the small kitchen counter while the phone screamed for my attention.

I plucked the wireless and held it close to my ear. "Hello?"

"Amber, it's nice to hear you." The voice of my mother rang soundly into my ears. After not seeing her for a full four months, I thought I would go crazy, so today was definitely a huge surprise. But something. . . doesn't seem right. The hitch in her voice is what I didn't hear often growing up.

"Mother? Is everything alright?" I asked her, keeping my voice steady.

"Oh Amber." And now even the tears are audible through the phone. "You've got to come home. Evelyn. . ."

"What about her? Is she fine?"

"I know you're busy with college, honey, but. . . please, please come home."

Go back to Idaho Falls? I'm taking my college courses in Cordalane so to take a drive would be at least eight hours. And flying was out of the question, it was way too expensive for what I can afford right now.

"Yes mother, I'll be right down right away," I replied to her with a soft smile as I gently placed the phone down and fretted about what my mother could possibly be so worried about.

"So are you gonna call Frida and Dimitri too?" I asked my mother, staring at the ceiling and resting on the arm of plush chair in the large living room. I kick my legs back and forth as I wait for an answer.

My mother walked slowly to the room, wiping the tears which streaked her face. She was not herself today.

Ever since the death of Evelyn, my mother has been a wreck. She sobs every four hours and to say the least, her dinners are getting worse. Maybe I'm being heartless and cruel, but. . . Evelyn's gone, what good would it do to continually mourn over her when you know she's not coming back.

So when she finally replied to my question, I swung myself out of the chair. "The twins? I'm not sure. . . Frida wasn't that close to Evelyn like Amber was and the same with Dimitri. It would be nice to have the family over, like old times., though."

I nodded excitedly for the first time this summer. Having all of my older siblings come home would be a blast! We would just have to ask them to stay away from eating chocolates but that wouldn't be a problem.

"Aren't the twins in California?"

"Yes, they are. Looking for an apartment. I just don't understand why they would ever want to live in the heat when here it's cool and calm," she said, pacing the room in deep Thought. "Maybe they shouldn't come. It's a twenty four hour drive from here to there, depending where the twins are."

"And what about Fico? He has to come!" In my opinion, my older brother Fico was the best out of all of my siblings. He always stuck by my side whenever we were at a park or an outing so I always relied on him to stay with me. So when he left for college for his first year, I felt lost honestly. Right now, I'm just praying he would come over, which sounds kind of selfish, doesn't it?

My mother's lips broke into a smile. "I suppose we can do that. Though, like Amber, Fico will have to drop out of school for a couple of days."

"Tell him it's because of Evelyn!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands in the air simply because I like less talking and more doing.

I shouldn't have said that. And before I can take back my words, my mother starts crying again while inching closer to the phone with every step she takes.

It was a shame though that I had to leave. I explained to Archer, my boyfriend who is also attending the same college as I am, that I had to go home and he replied with, "Stay safe, Look out for strangers, etc." It was sweet of him to worry but I had to assure him four times during coffee that I would really be alright. And then I suggested to him that since he worried so much, he could come with me to Idaho Falls. That made his eyes brighten for a moment when he asked when I would be going. Tomorrow was the earliest I was shooting for and I told all my professors that my family needed me back home. All were kind enough to comply so I'm wondering what excuse Archer would give. . .

So tomorrow was the big day when I would finally learn what on earth happen to my dear friend.

"She's here! Oh! And she brought Archer too!" I yell from the window which gave you a clear view to peak out onto the driveway.

My sister drove an old 50s style truck and parked it by the polished deck of the house.

Being way too excited this morning, I unlocked the front door and rushed over to see Amber. It had been four months since I last saw her and nothing seemed to change over the months. Not that I expected anything to happen. . . She still wore her auburn hair with pins at the sides to pull the corners lightly to the back, which made her look older than nineteen to be honest, and she still had her hair at a little bit lower below her shoulder.

"Amber!" I yell again that morning as I tackled my sister in a hug.

I heard a small laugh escape from her as she hugged me like a big mother bear. "Now Maple, what did mother tell you about running on the driveway with a moving vehicle?"

"I know," I grumbled, squeezing her again. "But I was just too excited to see you!" I pulled away and jerked my head towards the passenger seat. "And I see you brought Archer too."

Even the very mention of his name would bring a faint blush across her cheeks, and today was no different.

Archer made his way around the truck and grabbed what luggage he could. As soon as he saw me, he gave a warm smile and waved. "Morning, Maple."

"Morning," I replied as I stared at him.

No wonder my sister was into this guy. He was the very definition of neat and tidy. Down to his cuffed jeans and tucked in shirt, all the way to his neatly combed light brown hair. Amber wasn't joking when she told me five years ago that it was like he came out of a 50s movie. She really wasn't.

So once I stopped gazing at Archer, I led them both to the rooms upstairs. My mother and my father saw Archer and greeted him with hugs and the shaking of hands. They didn't seem angry that Amber brought him along just mostly. . . surprised. They told him he would be sleeping on the couch and he gave them a polite laugh and nodded.

Now all we had to do was wait for the others to arrive.

"I'm sorry honey, but they can't make it," my mother told me the next morning as I moaned under the covers.

So are twins and Fico weren't able to come. Shame. I was really looking forward to have the whole gang with us again.

"Okay," I mumbled as I heard her faint footsteps padded off downstairs. I snuggled deeper and was about to go asleep when. . . I heard cymbols crashing into my ears, nearly giving me a heart attack, as well as someone shouting, "TIME TO RISE AND SHINE SLEEPING BEAUTY! WE'VE GOT A BIG DAY AHEAD OF US! WE'RE GOING TO A FUNERNAL!"

Soon, the boarding noise stopped and I heard an all too familiar laugh as I sat up and whirled my head around the room.

I should've known. It was the twins. Frida's brown ponytail was swinging back and forth as she bent over to study me. Dimitri's shaved sides and combed hair were standing very close to my ceiling as he held two golden cymbols at his sides, smirking widely.

"Good morning," Frida said softly as she gave me a smirk, kissing my forehead. "How are you feeling?"

"Tired and terrified," I replied, sounding very tired and very terrified.

"Oh good, the two t's I like to hear every morning," Frida said with a snicker.

Dimitri grinned guiltily and patted Frida on the shoulder. "Come on, we've clearly terrified the poor girl."

"That's just what she said!" Frida said, giving an annoyed glance at me. "Well I suppose you can sleep in. It is the weekend after all."

Rely on the twins to give you an early uprising on the weekend. They were notorious for it when they were living here.

"So, I hear we're going to a friend's funeral," Frida finally said, biting her lip. "Who's?"

I closed my eyes and uttered the word I thought I would never say for a very long time, "Evelyn's."

Yesterday morning, my parents told me everything that happened to Evelyn. She was poisoned with chocolates that were meant to be a joke from Charm, her boyfriend, but they actually killed her instead. They told me Charm would never want to hurt Evelyn but that didn't mean I kept my suspicions to myself.

Charm was always such a sweet guy and so for him to do this, causing half of the city to be in panic, it was hard for me to believe at first.

And then my parents told me we were going to her funeral, tomorrow. Fortunately, I had plenty of Black in my closet sobthag wasn't a problem. But I still couldn't believe that my best friend was. . . gone. She's really gone. She's not living on this Earth anymore. She's. . . dead.

We arrived early at the funeral and were the second ones to be there. Evelyn's parents were around the box which held her body and Charm was there too. Wearing his best and definitely looking his best. His blonde hair was combed like everyone other man's at the funeral but he was a mess inside. You could see the pained expression clear on his face though he tried his best to cover it up.

Amber wasn't doing very well either. Even with Archer with her, she was holding back tears that would burst as soon as she was left alone.

Once everyone else arrived, the pastor spoke a few mumbo jumbo which I thought was pretty pointless considering he never even met Evelyn and finally, we were asked to throw flowers down into the grave. The parents were the first then Charm, and finally us, the Wolfe's. We all tossed roses at the same time and watched them fall.

Ten years later: Amber

We parked the truck near her grave as I barked orders to the children to get out of the back. They all hopped out from the gate and rushed over to the All too familiar grave which they knew we were seeing today.

Archer's arm was gently wrapped around my shoulders as he whispered, "You sure you want to do this?"

"It's just a grave, nothing more than a grave," I replied to him and leaned against him.

Our three children were kneeling in front of Evelyn's grave and I couldn't help myself but smile.

Surely she would want to see this, she would want us to have joy, not happiness. Happiness was temporal but joy. . . that lasted forever.

"Evelyn," I called out to our youngest daughter. "Don't step on it."

"Yes, mama," she said in her cute voice as she lifted her feet off the grave and copied her older siblings.

"Mama," our oldest child Fico spoke, "why do we come here?"

Once we were close enough to them, I hugged all of my children tightly. "We come here to remember a dear friend of mine."

"As well as mine," a voice said to my right. It was Charm. I gave a weak smile to him as he walked over to us.

"Yes, his too," I said, snuggling into my children and wondered what it was I was suppose to do with the rest of my life without her.

We all crowded around the grave and sang softly into the night. (hide spoiler)]

She says the origin of the term 'rick-rolled' was because when the song first premiered on the radio, every one thought it was a black guy singing it since it sounded like one, but when people saw the video, they realized it was a white guy and thus were 'rick-rolled'.

Anything that catches my ear, I don't have a favorite genre but I guess the only limit I can say is before 2000's hit. Other than that, I like to listen to a song if its actually good. And you are very welcome, its awesome when you recommend songs and others actually are willing to listen.

Exactly! It always feels good and plus, although the majority of my music is from the 2000's and before, there are a variety of exceptions. Artists that are unique and don't join with the rest of the music crowd, always trying to be different (those are the best). I'm not complaining but there are few artists that have several hits every album. Justin Timberlake, Usher (Minus his new album), Beyonce are some that stand out from the crowd. (I just wrote those early 2000 bands down, just in case)

I heartily agree. I like the ones that gave actually GOOD music instead of this junk they advertise as "Amazing Music." I've heard of Timberlake and Beyoncé but I just don't know where to start when listening to their music. XD
