Hello to everyone who has introduced themselves recently! I was sorted into Hufflepuff, too. It had to grow on me, but I love my house now. (:

I was happy to be sorted into Hufflepuff, I don't think i would do good in any other house, plus my favourite colour is yellow so it's perfect for me.
I'm a Ravenclaw :). in Chile I participate in a community called Hogwarts Chile, we have meetings once every month and enjoy our love for the saga, we're separated in the four houses and compete against each other for house cup, the competitions are often about knowing stuff from the series, other times they're sporty competitions :P it's really nerdy hahaha
I actually took the quiz last night after I read the chapter in the first book where the first years get sorted into their houses. I took it on Pottermore and got Slytherin and I was so shocked. Then I took it again in two different sites and got the same result haha. Had to see if it was actually correct
Slytherin could have been awesome, because it is about intelligence :) I always wonder what would have happened if Harry would have not been biased due to Draco and gone with it

Will I get banished if I confess to being a Slytherin? :D
I've never been on Pottermore so I've never been sorted, but I was assigned to Slytherin house for the Goodreads AMMP Harry Potter group challenge last year, so count me in.
It seems we all know our Hogwarts houses, but has anyone taken the Ilvermorny quiz? I did on Pottermore and got Pukwudgie!

No :D
It seems that all houses of Hogwarts are represented. I just took the quiz for Ilvermorny and I'm Thunderbird.

That sounds like a lot of fun.
Did you guys see that Jude Law is gonna play a young Albus Dumbledore in the next Fantastic Beasts movie, and I also heard that the next one is going to be set in Paris.
I posted inthe first page two reminders:Points system
May's BOM threads
I'm not sure if I can explain this well, if Stephanie can clarify, it'd be great =)
But we need one person to participate in BOM discussion for each book (A Gentleman in Moscow, Strange the Dreamer and The Circle). So if anyone wants to participate in any of the BOM's thread, let us know =)
I personally prefer not to, because it's really difficult to me to find those books here in my country and I'm significantly slower reading in english than in spanish.
BOM's are optional, you don't have to join if you don't want to, but if you do that's great just let us know when you finished the book that you participated so we can get the points. Only one team member can do DQ's though.I am like you Paula, I would rather not do them, not because I couldn't get the books but because they are not the types of books that I read.
They used to have buddy reads in the last tower teams which I did a lot of but BOM's aren't my thing.
Kimberly wrote: "I can read The Circle. I love Dave Eggers. If I can find the HP house quiz, I'll do it. :)"
Both the Hogwarts and Ilvermorny house quiz's are on pottermore.
So, I read the rules for BOM and everyone can participate in the BOM discussion by I guess, answering the discussion questions (DQ) in the discussion thread. Each member who participates in the BOM discussion gets 20 points. So if 5 of us participate in a BOM discussion, that's 20x5=100 points. But only one team member can write DQs which earns 40 points.
So I'll try to read all 3 books for the May BOM so I can participate in all three. I'll definitely read Strange the Dreamer and will participate. I don't know how to write DQ's yet so I'll just lurk a bit more before volunteering to write DQs. :-)
KaZaam wrote: "DQ - discussion questions"Thanks so now my next question is how can you make them if you haven't read the book yet?
My problem with the boms is that they tend to be new releases, very popular or books that I have no interest in. I put myself on the library hold list for the Circle, but based on the number of people on the list, I don't think I'll have a chance to read it in May
I could read Gentleman in Moscow, but I'll have to get it from the library, what is our timeline for having to have it finished by?
Brittany wrote: "I could read Gentleman in Moscow, but I'll have to get it from the library, what is our timeline for having to have it finished by?"The thread for that book opens on May 12 ;)
There was a question in the Q&A thread, that tells you that you only have a month from the start date of the BOM to finish to get the points. So if it starts on 12 May then you have until the 12 June to finish the book to get the pointsQ:Do I have to start the BOM on the same date as the group?
A: No. However, the BOM participation points are to reward those joining in the book discussion, so you will still need to do some participation on the BOM thread and have the book read within a month of the date that the group starts it to get the points
Okay i have some questions which have probably already been answered but...Does everyone have to read the BOM?
Every member that participates in the DQ gets 20pts right?
In that case if i dont read the book but add to the discussion do i still get points?
Every member gets the 20 pts for the BOM, you get an extra 40 pts if you do the DQ's but only one team member can do that, then on top of that you get the page number pts. You have to read the books to get the pts, you can't just add to the discussion, the challenge goes on what you read, so if you don't read it it will not go on the spreadsheet to our overall pts.
But you also need to sign up for DQ's fast if you want to do them, they will only allow a certain number of people to write them and there are a lot of other teams.

It depends on the book, the more chapters it has the more people they will need to ask questions, they will let you know.
I thought it would be fun for everyone to answer some questions, and get to know everyone a little better. What are you Currently reading? Do you love it, hate it, or feel bluh about it so far?
