I've got a few books going but I'm keen :) are you guys reading so many chapters/ pages a day or just going at your own pace and posting with spoiler tags?

I think I'll just read in my own pace because I'm reading so many books right now and I have night shifts coming and I doubt I won't get much reading done then. But we can agree on after which chapters to post if you guys want.

I'm game for whatever. I started the book this morning. I'm so excited!

I've read almost half the book. I have some theories, but I won't give anything away. Where is everyone else at?

I'm on page 102 and so far the story seems interesting. I like all three queens but I pity them for what awaits them.

Katherine - (view spoiler)[ I like Katherine a lot but her situation seems to be the worst. Being the next poisoner queen after poisoners have ruled for some time must be hard. Especially as she's not really living up to the expectations. And she's the one who probably suffers the most from her weak gift because she needs to keep poisoning herself over and over. Arsinoe - (view spoiler)[ I find Arsinoe perhaps the least interesting of the queens so far. She seems like a sweet girl but that seems to be all there is. It's almost like she's accepted her fate. I'm not sure I like Madrigal. It seems like she's trying to use Arsinoe for her own purposes, like with the low magic. I wonder what Arsinoe's familiar will be once it appears. (hide spoiler)]

Mirabella - (view spoiler)[She's supposed to be the strongest but I doubt it'll be that simple. I don't like that the temple is trying to use her to gain power. She seems to be most troubled about killing her sisters but maybe that's because her chances of succeeding are probably the most realistic. (hide spoiler)]

I finished the book today. Kikijanika, I was intrigued by your thoughts because I felt the same as you. I can't wait for the next book. I won't say more until more people finish. I'm curious to know what you guys think will happen next.

Mirabella - (view spoiler)[ I was surprised she tried to run away. Somehow I thought her too obedient for that but I guess the dreams/memories are getting to her. I wonder why she remembers things but the others won't. Perhaps she's got a bit of a seeing gift, too. I also wonder if what happened between her and Joseph had something to do with the love charm Arsinoe destroyed. Interesting to see what will happen between Joseph and Jules now. (hide spoiler)]

Arsinoe and Jules - (view spoiler)[ It's weird that Jules has such a big part in the story even though she's not one of the queens. That makes me think she will have an important role to play. Maybe she and Arsinoe have somehow switched places and Jules is actually the queen. Or then she's a fourth sister with extraordinary power that Rho mentioned sometimes being born. That would explain her strong gift. (hide spoiler)]

Katharine - (view spoiler)[ I'm also wondering whether her gift is actually something else than poisoning. Her gift is weak so it could be something else entirely...like I don't know...a war gift ☺ (hide spoiler)]

Yes Diane..I'm also up for a buddy read once the sequel is out. I've now read about 300 pages and I hope to finish tomorrow.

I did not expect (view spoiler)[ Arsinoe to run away. But I have a hard time believing she is really gone. I keep thinking she will make an entrance during the Beltane festival. Maybe she went looking for that bear of hers. I almost like her better now with the wounds and the mask. I think she's somehow stronger now. (hide spoiler)]

I finished and I think this was a good book. Based on the book description I expected this to be more about the queens trying to kill each other but that seems to be the theme for the next book. I'm not complaining though. This was a great story the way it is.

I knew there was (view spoiler)[ something wrong with the gifts because both Arsinoe and Katharine were so weak. I wonder if Arsinoe being a poisoner also means that Katharine is a naturalist. (hide spoiler)]

I'm not sure why (view spoiler)[Pietyr pushed Katharine into the Breccia domain. Was he really trying to save her from the priestesses or was he working for them? Or did he have an agenda of his own? And I'm still wondering about Jules's role and what will happen with Joseph and Mirabella's little romance. (hide spoiler)]

I agree about (view spoiler)[the gifts. I feel like Katharine may have the gift of sight now. She never seemed much like a naturalist. Also, I feel like she would have noticed Sweetheart didn't come back. I realize I'm assuming Sweetheart was Katharine's familiar. (hide spoiler)]

I was confused by Pietyr's actions too. I think (view spoiler)[Pietyr couldn't stand the idea of Katharine being with the suitors. I feel like being in Breccia Domain has changed Katharine. Maybe she absorbed all the Goddess powers. That wouldn't be my favorite choice though. (hide spoiler)]

As for Jules, there are so many ways the story could go. I'm so excited to find out what Kendare Blake will do!
