I'm starting this week with Carter by Tijan.

Btw, stop by The Romance Dish http://tinyurl.com/o6l2rhh and check out PJ's review on Stormy Persuasion by Johanna Lindsey. Leave a comment on her blog for a chance to win a hardcover copy of Stormy Persuasion, JL's newest addition to the Mallory family.

Rachel Hill | 487 comments I started book 3 (which is actually book 5 if you count the novellas, and you have got to include the novellas) of Courtney Milan's Sinister Brothers. Right now I'm not really liking the book. The heroine is annoying, almost to the point that I wish the hero to wake up and find a nice girl who isn't awful.

Rachel that one takes a while to get going. Having said that--it includes one of the most charming and selfless heroes, unexpectedly devoted moms ( and good moms for heroines are scarce on the ground), and fascinating and unusual plots (not to mention heroines) I have ever encountered. Stick with it...
The next one is due July 14....

Mary | 22 comments Just finished Never Kiss A Rake (Scandal and the House of Russell) by Anne Stuart. Absolutely loved it, finished it at 2 am. I knew who the villain was early on, or at least had a pretty good guess. It was the Hows and the What Is Going To Happen Nexts that kept my attention riveted. Bummer is that it is clearly continued in book 2.

Rachel another wonderful thing about that book is now different Sebastian is than we think from previous books while still being totally consistent.

Yeah, I've got to agree, I love how original Courtney Milan's plots tend to be, and that book was freaking phenomenal IMO! Does take a while to get going, but I loved Violet instantly for being as amazingly intelligent and brave as she was, and loved Sebastian even more for having this deep, serious side of him that I absolutely did not expect.
Rachel, I can totally see that it might take you a while to like Violet after how much she pushes Sebastian away.
I'll just second Dls and say stick with it, and you might change your mind when you get to know Violet a little better :) It's sooooo worth it :D
Personally, I ended up being way more annoyed with Sebastian's brother than I could possibly have done with Violet but my reasons why would probably be very spoiler-y so I'll shut up now.

Irisheyes | 896 comments Re-reading LORD OF SCOUNDRELS by Loretta Chase. I was in a slump and needed to read something that would keep my interest. I happened to find this as an e-book at my library and downloaded it. I know I read it before, but it has been years and I didn't really remember most of the plot. It's a great book. I'm really enjoying it.

Irish, I bought this book for my Nook reader, but haven't read it yet. So many books...
I'm reading Sleepwalker by Karen Robards for a change of genre this week.

message 11: by Irisheyes (new)

Irisheyes | 896 comments I just finished it, Susan. I really liked it. As I said in my previous post, I know I read it before but didn't remember any of it. It was nice because I remembered that I liked the book but everything else was a pleasant surprise. LOL

Rachel Hill | 487 comments Irisheyes,
Have you read her dressmaker series? It's awesome!

I am reading Lauren Willigs new book and really enjoying it. Although I am getting a little sick of historical flash back books--the new Beatriz Williams is also that format.

Starting Friday with Release Me by J. Kenner

message 15: by Phoenix77 (new)

Phoenix77 | 346 comments I'm at loose ends this week. I'm not particularly motivated to jump into any of the books in my horribly out of control TBR pile. Do any of you ever get into these reader doldrums? I think I need a quick change of genres (and something brand new) to snap me back. Paranormal or Contemporary recommendations?

message 16: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Hill | 487 comments Pheonix 77 you should check out Melissa Mayhue! Her books are romance/paranormal and spilt eras between modern day & medieval Scotland.

message 17: by Dee (new)

Dee | 9 comments Have to agree with Rachel, Melissa Mayhue is wonderful! When I read I try to try mixing it up a bit. I might read a paranormal, then a regency and then a western. If you do that I don't think you get the "doldrums" quite so much. At least I don't.

Phoenix, a couple of years ago I got myself out of a slump by reading Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. It's urban fantasy but there's romance and a bit of mystery too. Warning, though, she's very addictive.

For contemp you might try Toni Blake's Destiny series (first book is One Reckless Summer), Virginia Kantra's Dare Island Series (first book is Carolina Home), or for something completely different try The Haunting of Maddy Clare by Simone St. James.

Good luck! I know what a bummer a slump can be.
