Dewey's Read-a-Thon April 2017

I think this is my twelth Read-a-Thon and as always I'm looking forward to it.

In October my sister had other plans and couldn't read with me but she is back and will take part again (without being signed up). My husband who quite often also takes part have to work for some of the Read-a-Thon and when he is off, he will be writing on his next book.

My goal will be the same as usual. Try to stay awake for around 18 hours and read 1000 pages.

Jane | 1438 comments Hour 0 – Opening Survey

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
From a very small village called Tørsbøl in the south of Denmark

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs which I have been keeping for this event. Unfortunately I have fallen behind in some of the challenges I am taking part in so I'm not sure if I'll fit it in. But then again I might just disregard that (only because it is an individual challenge and not a team one) and read it anyway.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Not so much the snacks which there are plenty of, more the meals. I hate cooking but my sister is taking part with me and she supplies the meals.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I love canoing and there is nothing better than being in the middle of nowhere, sitting on the edge of a river with a book.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I have participated a lot of times but there is nothing I will do differently.

Jane | 1438 comments Well, I have finally after 7½ hours finished my first book.

I started by having lunch and then got reading but unfortunately I was too tired. I basically fell asleep trying to read.
I usually try to sleep in on the day of the RaT start as it doesn't start to 2pm in my time zone but that didn't work today.

The book I finished was:
Quite Contrary by Richard Roberts Quite Contrary by Richard Roberts
It is 3 stars
It was a horror version of Little Red Riding Hood and the ending is interesting.

Next book is hopefully a bit lighter
No Time Like Forever by Zoe York

Jane | 1438 comments It is now just after midnight and I keep falling asleep so I better stop for the night. I'll be back in 6-7 hours to continue.

Jane | 1438 comments Mid-Event Survey!

1. What are you reading right now?
This isn't really mid-event as there is only 3 and a half hour left of the RaT but I have just finished Fire Mage by John Forrester

2. How many books have you read so far?
3

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
I think I'll only be able to read one more and I need it for a challenge.

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? This weekend was set aside for Dewey's and I have had no interruptions.

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
Nothing has surprised me. It is of course a pity that the website isn't working but that is no ones fault. And I'm still reading so it is okay.
