I won't be joining in with this as I have read this so many times. It is my favourite Austen. Very envious of people reading it for the first time. May join in thread though once the reading starts. Enjoy.
I can't wait to read this again, have read it maybe three times, but each time, I recall the amazing English teacher who first introduced me to this book when I was at school. He was so enthusiastic, and did such great character analysis (particularly of the male characters) that I can't help but enjoy the story and his analysis along with it.
Not sure if this should be in the section where spoilers are allowed but I am now on chapter 5 and so far there have been NO explosions! What kind of nonsense book is this?
You need to wait until the Netherfield Ball when everyone is machine-gunned down, mafia style, while eating white soup.
Hanging offence in those days Jason. Either that or pistols at dawn (now that might spice up P&P).
I've read P&P numerous times, so was actually wondering if I should read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, instead, but post my thoughts as normal and see who noticed there were no undead in the story they were reading :)
Was thinking of doing that and leaving the reviews here, but as I have never read the original I thought it would be best to read that first to see what differences are in the remake.
Is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies any good? I've heard very mixed opinions and I'm not completely sure I would enjoy it.I've also already read Pride and Prejudice and loved it! I loved the relationships as well as the character and thoughts of Elizabeth. I thought the dialogues were witty and were probably my favourite part of the book.
Mega fan of both p&p and zombies...but wasn't so keen on the two together. I didn't quite finish it in the end.
I won't be re-reading this on this group read, but P&P is right up there, one of the best of its era. Funny with great characters and observations. There is a reason it truly is a "classic".
Well I am up to chapter 12, I must admit I did not expect miss Bingley to bite off Mr Darcy's ears but she managed it in the end. Such graphic detail too.
Joy wrote: "Jason - you're giving me a good chuckle, but is Miss Austen raising a laugh for you? Hope so."It isn't as boring as I was expecting, I think reading war & peace has helped me get a grip of the daily lives people used to live.
It is much easier to read to, I always seem to pick up these old books expecting it to be written in ye olde English.
The relationship between Elizabeth and Darcy is pretty funny.
The Netherfield ball has finally kicked off so hoping for some heavy drinking followed by a big olde fight in the car park.
I thought I had already posted here after reading the book, but I can't see me anywhere, so sorry if you've already seem my opinions. The characters were as hilarious as ever, Mr Bennett is one of my favourites, such a dry sense of humour, and is there a character in any novel who is more henpecked?!I suppose the key question is - Jason, have you finished the novel? What did you think?
Oooooh awkwardness at Pemberley house, I have no idea how Elizabeth stayed upright, what with all that blushing. Darcy seems to be a changed man after receiving a right spanking from Elizabeth.Soooooo does anybody notice this is quite similar to the 50 shades of grey book? obviously without the list of rude stuff and this is much betterly written like.
