Anna (Adventures with a Book Nerd) (bookish_anna) This is a thread for everyone to talk leading up to the readathon, and during the readathon! Feel free to use it as you wish! :)

Do you guys have any plans on what you're going to try and read this week?

★ℕłℂØℓҾ★ (Nix) (ladyknightnix) | 4549 comments If only A Court of Wings and Ruin was out now! I'm dying to read it! I'm currently in a kinda re-read mode. I want to re-read some of my favorite series by Tamora Pierce

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

I love Tamora Pierce! My favorite series is the Protector of the Small. Maybe I'll reread the Tortall series from Alanna to Aly again.

Oh my goodness! Me too! I only just realized when skimming through that the Yamani Islands are similar to Japan, where I was almost going to live for a few years. I think my fascination with Japanese culture first stemmed from reading those books as a kid :) And Kel is just awesome!

Trisha | 30284 comments I just picked up 17 books from my library today....lol
all new releases. they only put new YA books out every 2 months. so excited I have all these new books but.... I need more time to read!! lol

I'm hoping to get a lot read next week!

YEAH! Kel was my hero, still is really, when I was a kid. I got the books as a gift and I've probably read them 10x and they never get old. And I think you're right, the Yamani Island definitely seem to mirror Japan. When I read them this time I'll have to look closer at the society. Kind of wish Pierce had one series that was set in the Islands.

message 7: by ★ℕłℂØℓҾ★ (Nix), snowflakes and eyelashes (new)

★ℕłℂØℓҾ★ (Nix) (ladyknightnix) | 4549 comments I'd say we should buddy read them, but they're such quick reads now! I read Alanna: The First Adventure last week in just one morning lol. I'm planning to read the rest of that series and Kel's during the Readathon

Anna (Adventures with a Book Nerd) (bookish_anna) @Trisha Wow! Ya, you have a lot of books to choose from! I currently go to two different library districts, and so sometimes the books can get a bit out of hand. :)

we could always just buddy read the series, rather than just the book. I'd love to do that.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished reading Alanna The First Adventure (Song of the Lioness, #1) by Tamora Pierce and since it was a reread I knew I would love it. and I did. Now onto the rest of the series.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm hoping to finish Cinder today or tomorrow.

Anna (Adventures with a Book Nerd) (bookish_anna) Yes! Manga and graphic novels totally work! If it's a book, it counts. :)

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Nice! thanks. I just finished Black Butler, Vol. 8, it's the last volume that I own and I love this series!

message 32: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 413 comments I think I'm going to start City of Fallen Angels the last time I read a book in this series it was during the last readathon so I think it's time I continue on with this series. I finished Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock 5 minutes after the readathon started so not gonna count that one.

Anna (Adventures with a Book Nerd) (bookish_anna) I finished my first book! I started it before the readathon, but I wasn't even half way through it. So it's nice to have that one done. How has everyone's day been so far?

message 36: by Corrine (new)

Corrine | 115 comments Going to finish The Sun Is Also a Star, but I started it before the read-a-thon. Then starting Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

I wasn't so sure about it after the first book because I thought I might get bored with the series if the books keep repeating the same pattern. However, I liked the 3rd and 4th book a lot and I hope the following parts will be great as well :) How about you?

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

I love them. I actually broke down and bought the first 8 in the series, every time I buy books I get one more. It gets better as it goes on, more dark too. Can't wait for the next volume to come out. I've been having a good reading day, I love Read-a-thons.

I love read-a-thons, too! Only I have to work on five days, which is a pity, but I hope to get some reading done anyway. The series getting darker sounds promising. I like dark stories!

Not sure how much reading I'll get done in the next couple of days because I will have to work on my MA Thesis.
