Thoughts on new character Edgar for insurgent?

Most of you probably know that Edgar has been cast as a new character for insurgent, he has been brought in to be Tris' love interest because there was no love triangle In Divergent. I personally don't like this decision, I liked that tris and Tobias were both a bit odd but they loved Escher other anyway and no one was threatening that.

I thought he was just another minor character who dies...
I hate Edgar. Just the thought of him in the movie makes me not wanna go see it! Honestly what kind of producers would add a new character to a movie that was made from a book. And they shouldn't have named Edgar because there's already an Edward!
WHAT???!! Why would they do that?? One of the things I loved about Divergent is that it wasn't a love triangle, it was so different from most YA novels by doing that. Ugh, that's gonna bug me till I see the film. What are they thinking??! I think they're making a huge mistake, I don't think this will go down well with the rest of the fandom...
OMG, i was so excited for the next movie, and yes i loved the books partly because there was no love triangle too!! wow, this really sucks. i wish it weren't happening.

It's real. There's an actor listed on IMDb, Jonny Weston. I wish it wasn't happening :(
Yup :( the producers have made a really bad move, u don't think that anyone likes this...

that's what I thought! I like him for the role, but I really hope he can pull it off!
He looks like the Uriah in my mind...And the Edgar looks like jace from tmi...
@Emma He does! I think he would have been a better choice than Jamie Campbell Bower as jace, he just couldn't pull it off. That might just be me though, anyone agree?
I never saw tmi but I don't really feel the urge to because everyone says it's so bad...
it was. it was very bad. I was so disappointed because it was almost like they took COB, ripped out all the bits that make it good different from every other book, and made it into a film. Magnus was in the film for about 10 minutes in total, Jace was a cardboard, boring character and Simon didn't get turned into a rat. it was so disappointing, especially when I thought it would be good from the look of the trailers... :(

I know, I'm really not happy with it, I think they should have consulted someone, anyone, before making this decision. I know its not very common to do this, but I think that they should have done an internet vote or something, involve the fans in major decisions like this. just something that would make us more satisfied with the film when its out. They've screwed up big time on this...
No Edgar. No I will be very mad, I actually am very mad about this Edgar character. The movie should stay true to the book. Don't you guys agree?
Yup, I think everyone thinks that. I haven't heard a single person say that they're happy about this!

I'm not sure, I think that this post is their opinion but it gives pretty good reasons for whey it isn't true that Edgar is going to be Tris's love interest. :)
Because, honestly, why would they change a whole part of it???(?
@Ishbel I agree with u 200% they should've included the fans in a decision like this. An Internet vote would've been the smart idea. But honestly adding a new character is the dumbest idea ever!!! Out of all these comments, none of them said that they like Edgar. He's hated by all.
Haven't seen the first one yet but this makes me less likely to get started on the movies. Might just stick with the books.

I am not worried about the love triangle thing because the tris I know would never fall for anyone that isn't named Tobias.
I just really was looking forward to insurgent especially with them finding out about a Evelyn and everything.

An internet vote would have been great, but I'm not surprised that they didn't do it! If they make Edgar Tris's love interest and make Four and Christina a couple after Tris's death then I don't know if I'll see insurgent/Allegiant :(

I heard this too. but then I saw something on Pinterest and Instagram that said it was just a rumor! I got mad too, but I'm 99.9% sure it is just a rumor.
According to G.d.'s thread and a website I visited Edgar might be a love interest for Tris.
@Nithya Whether Edgar lives in on Allegiant, I highly doubt he'll be doing the killing. David--who I always pictured as George Clooney--will be in charge of that.
If Edgar is real I hope that he will die a horrible death at the end of the movie by hands of... Evelyn.And if he is not real then I want the sick twisted person that made up this lie to come forward so that we can shun him/her from the Divergent Framily.
I honestly don't mind that there's a new character.
