I'm sure Paul wouldn't think so! Or Bill either, for that matter!!

I think this book has been already read... I also wanted to read it though!
Tom wrote: "I've always wanted to read one of the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache books so I'd like to nominate Still Life, the first book in that series by Louise Penny."
So sorry, Tom - it's already been read by the group. Feel free to pick another, though!

I'll take a couple (meaning two) more and then I'll be closing the nominations. I'm waiting to hear back from someone re the correct title of a book, so it would be two more plus that one if she replies.

lolol
Okey-dokey - I'll wait a day or two to hear back from the people I asked to make another choice and from the person who gave me a book by Clare de Witt who isn't a real author, but all NEW nominations are now closed.
Thanks for playing - I'll keep you posted about the poll.

I've just had an interesting message and I want to run it by you all. Some books that have been read as a group were done so years and years ago making them an automatic "we've read that already" -- so how would you all feel about instituting a clause that says "a book we haven't read within the last year or two?" I have to say that the proposition makes perfect sense to me. Please share your thoughts.

Since it was my suggestion, I vote yes as well. This genre has so many books to choose from, though, that I would probably exclude books chosen in the past three years.

A very good read, really liked this one.

Susan wrote: "OK, this is just driving me crazy. When you nominate a book, use the link. It makes it so much easier for everyone trying to look up the nomination. It takes only an extra minute and is so courteous."
Thank you.
Not only is it courteous, but a) the link takes people directly to the book in one step instead of having to look it up each time, b) there are many times where different authors use the same title so it avoids confusion, and c) for the people who put together the polls, it becomes a mess without the links. Hence our recaps.

Ellen wrote: "Hi Nancy, that sounds like a good idea, especially as I only joined the group recently! :) I vote yes."
Thanks!
Thanks!

I checked both nominations and bookshelf and didn't see it.
It is book 1 in the series.

I'm going to give the others I mentioned earlier a chance, but if they're no-shows, I'll add in the books mentioned by Thomas and Sonya. I'll add them on to #45 tomorrow if I don't hear anything.
Please people - no more nominations! We have a good list here!

Thanks!
Thanks!

I'd like to second your recommendation of Garnethill by Denise Mina. Just started reading her latest - The Long Drop - and I loved the Garnethill and Paddy Mehan books. Maybe I'm biased, because I'm Scottish, but I think Denise Mina is one of the best crime writers out there.

Thanks, Erin. I figured that but you never know.

Well, Amy, I've scoured the internet and can't discover whether Blake Pierce is male or female (for some reason the author writes about him/herself in the third person) so I'm not adding this one. Sorry.

Actually, Sonya, this is book #15 in a series. If you want to nominate an earlier one, let me know.

Like Nancy and the other people who have commented, please take a moment to scroll through the thread before nominating books. When the moderator says no more nominations, it's because we have enough and please also make an effort to use the 'add book/ author' feature at the top of the comment box as it makes it easier for everyone else to check up on the book.
And it's not necessary to second nominations. Other groups have that feature.

I am not sure if you have already done the VI Warshwski books by Sara Paretsky, if not, then I would change it to this series

Skye wrote: "LOL, BILL and Nancy, but if you think of it, you should be flattered that this group has such a devoted following and is a bit overzealous....it's a good thing."
It is a very good thing, but sometimes in life, understanding what's going on is important.

I started to nominate this book when I saw it was already on the list. By the way, am I the only guy in this group? Sometimes it seems like it.
