London, 1813. Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, is no stranger to the dark side of the city, but he's never seen anything like this: the brutalized body of a 15-year-old boy dumped into a makeshift grave on the grounds of an abandoned factory. One of London's many homeless children, Benji Thatcher was abducted and tortured before his murder—and his younger sister is still missing. Few in authority care about a street urchin's fate, but Sebastian refuses to let this killer go unpunished. Uncovering a disturbing pattern of missing children, Sebastian is drawn into a shadowy, sadistic world. As he follows a grim trail that leads from the writings of the debauched Marquis de Sade to the city's most notorious brothels, he comes to a horrifying realization: Someone from society's upper echelon is preying upon the city's most vulnerable. And though dark, powerful forces are moving against him, Sebastian will risk his reputation and his life to keep more innocents from harm.

For those continuing to read the series upon new releases!

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments I preordered my copy so it should be in my mailbox when I get home. I won't be able to start it for another day or two because I have to finish the books I'm currently reading.

I'm waiting to see if my library buys it. Otherwise, I'll use an Audible credit.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments You listen to a lot of audiobooks, Jonetta. How many credits do you get a month? I currently only get one but I'm considering increasing my membership since I'm starting to use audiobooks a bit more now.

Phrynne Thanks for continuing this Jonetta! My kindle copy arrived yesterday and I can't wait! Trouble is I have too many great books waiting this month and I don't know which to read first.

Angela | 749 comments That's my problem as well this month Phrynne. I am really looking forward to this one and do plan to read by the end of the month.

Phrynne It's a good problem to have :)

I'm having some issues setting the book up in the discussion group. Waiting on GR to offer guidance. Seems we've hit a limit on folders:)

I only get one but I'm normally standing with six accumulated credits as I get most of my audiobooks from the library or from the publisher for review. Since you may only rollover six credits, I'm now using one a month in order not to lose any credits.

Very true.

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 2447 comments I will join in whenever I get my library copy. I am not sure how long that will be

I once accumulated too many credits and they let me suspend my membership for six months. I had to spend my credits first but then I didn't pay anything for the next six months while I caught up.

I've considered doing that, Phrynne. But, I've a couple of books on my wish list that I want and have given up hope that my library will buy them. Once they're gone, I think I'll do that.

I figured out how to add the folder for this book. Here's the link:

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments My library says this book is now "in transit" to me. How long that takes is a mystery at present....

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments Hope you enjoy it whenever you get it, Charlene.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments This little mention from Harris' most recent blog post is sort of funny:

"Beyond that, I've turned in the proposal for Sebastian #14, WHO SLAYS THE WICKED. And I've just learned they lost the model they used for the last few covers--he's gone off to be a fireman. So we'll be having a new guy for the cover of WHY KILL THE INNOCENT. Fingers crossed he looks the part! "

It's funny because the cover model before this one ran off and joined the Navy.

Lol! Loved this, Veronica.

Phrynne That is so funny Veronica! Now we know why some books have horrific cover changes.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 5477 comments Mod
Lol!

Reading the Sebastian novels has prompted these guys to action!

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments At least the young men they've attracted are civic-service minded. :-)

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments I now have my copy. When will others read and be ready to discuss? Already or in the future?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 5477 comments Mod
I've got my copy too. Work has been crazy so I will read it over the weekend.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 12913 comments Mod
My library came through and now I've got to work it in somehow.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments Hope you enjoy it, ladies!

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 12913 comments Mod
Lauren has posted the discussion questions! Many, many thanks.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments I left my book bag at our son's Friday; now will have to drive over there some time and retrieve my top-shelf reading materials. Doggone!

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 12913 comments Mod
Hope it's not too far!

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments Hour away. Do-able. Will be there Fri-Sat for granddaughter's final track meet. Not sure if I'll get there before end of the week, doggone.

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 2447 comments That is funny, Veronica! I need to look at the faces more clearly as I never even noticed lol.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments I think they should get permission to use the same model with different background and clothing colors :-)
