What are you reading in April 2017?
I'm trying to figure out what to read next. Norse Mythology, The Fate of the Tearling, and The Neverending Story are on the table for this month. But, being that I just finished The Shattered Seas Trilogy (Half a King) and read The Gingerbread Princess this weekend, I feel like I need a break from fantasy. Can't seem to settle on anything though.

I'm really enjoying the Collapsing Empire. Wheaton's narrations always work so well with Scalzi's snarky style.
Motivation?? That's a good one. I'm doing this for school and teetering on the edge of bailing on my program. Long story, really.

I have a certification test that I need to sign up for this month and take by the end of July. I'm on chapter 5. O_O
I'm planning on getting the audio of Collapsing Empire with this month's Audible credit! I'm glad to hear it's good so far!
I have been reading a whole lot of nothing except sometimes books for my RL bookclub. This month we're reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy so... that.
I'm reading The Meaning of Everything: The Story of the Oxford English Dictionary. Slow getting past the very beginning but it's good now.
I'm reading Dawn Study - the last of the Study series. It's a bit slow going, but I'm hoping for a big finish.
I used to read during lunch every day at work, but I'm trying to be more social at the new job and make some friends, so I've been skipping that for the last few weeks. Between that, and having a 8 month old (resulting in sleep deprivation and passing out as soon as I hit the pillow, which was my other reading time), I'm not getting much reading done. Mostly just audiobooks... I need to find a new reading routine!

Yeah.
It was originally just the trilogy, and then she did a related trilogy, which I never read, and now this last trilogy which combines characters from both the other trilogies, but focused on Yelena and Valek.
I only read up to book 2 of the first trilogy. O_O
I really liked the original trilogy. It was problematic... it's rather... I'm not sure formulaic is the right word, but I guess it is. The books have a similar pattern, which includes people being annoyingly stupid, keeping secrets unnecessarily, and lots of being captured and rescued...But I liked the characters and I liked the world... and it's one of those series where I was happy a trilogy turned into a series, because I like spending time with Valek.
And, yeah, Yelena too, I'm sure...
(But mostly Valek. Yum.)
Still not fussed about reading the middle trilogy, though.
I remember loving Valek, lol. Not Yelena so much (in book2).
New job is fine so far! It's a little overwhelming sometimes, but that's just me wanting to be up to speed and useful already. Give me a few months and I'll be good I think!

I've been having trouble sleeping lately so the other night I read the first half of Hellboy, Vol. 3: The Chained Coffin and Others. It's my first Hellboy & I'm really liking it. The artwork is amazing.Other than that the only reading I've been doing is listening to The Girl with All the Gifts, but sparingly. I've been more drawn to podcasts lately. Though there's a bunch of audiobooks I want to listen to ASAP, so hopefully that will help me focus on the The Girl with All the Gifts.
I'm going on a week long trip in a few weeks & it involves long plane rides so I'm hoping to get a lot of reading in then!
I finished reading Blood Hollow. Contemporary mystery series that I'm really enjoying. I've now moved onto The Awakening. It's the final book in the series and so far I'm really enjoying the story.

It really is. The beginning is a little slow but the rest is pretty fascinating. The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary is also fascinating but it's been some years since I've read it.

I can't recommend it enough. I've been trying to explain to people how interesting it is but most people's eyes glaze at "dictionary."
LOL, funny, because as soon as I read the word "dictionary" I fell asleep a little.

My cousin is into True Crime. She was totally uninterested until I told her about the murderer.
I'm just about to start The Waking Fire. Finished The Awakening which I really enjoyed. It was the final book in the Graveyard Queen series and satisfying conclusion.
My reading speed these days is horrendous. I'm still on Explorations: First Contact and The Jewish War. Should finally finish them by next month, though.I'm liking both (the former's a sci-fi anthology, the latter classical history), just really pushed for time.
At least you're reading, Thaddeus. I can barely manage that these days.
I'm reading The Power: A Berkeley Blackfriars Novel. I read the first one awhile back - I'd won it from goodreads - and I liked it enough that I wanted to continue. One of the few self-pubs I've followed up with. I'm finding this second book a bit more religiousy, though... It was always religious, but I didn't feel it went overboard in the first book. But it feels more this time... though I suppose it could be me.
Also started The Dream Stealer this morning, though I only got about 10 pages in before I fell asleep, so... no opinion yet.
Finished The Collapsing Empire and still very slowly going through The Mirror’s Truth.I like the book, just school taking most of my time.
Started Earthrise because of a lot of good reviews...we'll see.Still reading Deadhouse Gates. It got weird and confusing again.
Finished up A Closed and Common Orbit which was divine.
Still re-reading Belgarath the Sorcerer.

I'm reading A Crown of Swords, Nonesuch, Syren, and Shadowheart, and getting antsy to start another! At this rate, I don't think I'll start finishing books till the end of 2017. :S
Finished The Waking Fire which I thoroughly enjoyed. I've now moved onto Memories of Ice and Burial Rites.
I finally got Dracula vs. Hitler from the library, so I started on that. Not very far in yet, but I was surprised by a) the size of the book and b) that it seems to be serious. I admit, based on the subject matter I was expected a humorously written book.
Reading Spook's Dark Assassin and it's pretty awesome, as expected, though I'm not terribly far in; I just know I love Joseph Delaney. I'm sad it's the last Tom Ward novel. :,(

I'm only 40% in and I feel like the story could be wrapped up in another 20%. What is the remaining 40% going to be about? This book might end up dragging and it has me worried.
Currently reading Mo' Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove but it looks like a DNF because I just don't like music enough.Also re-reading Magician's Gambit and I'm stalled on everything else.

It's not so clear until you read the last book, since it's labeled as the last book, but The Wardstone Chronicles are actually incomplete on their own. A certain enemy is not dealt with, and that's where The Starblade trilogy comes in. I can understand if non-fans find three more books on top of the original 13 to be a bit disappointing.
Yeah... can't say I'm thrilled with that since, like I said, I'm sort of stalled out on the series anyway. Ugh.
