This book is the first I read by GH and I loved it so much I was giddy as I read it. I can't read it for the first time again.

Coming late to the party - on vacation for the past 2 1/2 weeks! This is the third time I have read this, the first being about 15 years ago, and the second time last year. It is one of my least favorite GH reads, but I am willing to give it another go.

Thanks Abigail! I only have a few Heyer romances left to read for the first time, so I'm trying to space them out a bit ;) I will try to share my thoughts regularly! I'm not very far in yet, but so far I already greatly like Sylvester (arrogant in a rather unusual style, pretty starchy and has a list of qualities for his future wife? Oh yes, I am definitely entertained!) and his Mama is an absolute treasure.

I agree, Anne. Sylvester is a bit starchy, but he's also clear-sighted, or, at least, he is about other people. He's intelligent, and given half a chance might even develop a really wicked sense of humor!

Thanks Andrea!! I hope to be able to read more today! And as well as posting on here I'll try to regularly update my status. :) The first Heyer is so important and I'm so glad you love this one!!
