Melisa (megife) | 17 comments Hi! I want to know if is necessary to put the comma before the hash in a book title (when add or edit), because I've seen many books without it so I'm not sure of what to do when it isn't there; is useful or not?
For example: Eclipse (Twilight #3) instead of Eclipse (Twilight, #3)
Thanks!

Empress (the_empress) Hi Polyta,

the coma is the old style so the entries you are seeing are left over. Currently the comma is not required, but adding it is not wrong either. If this has changed I'm sure someone else will chime in.

series

Series should always be created separately. (See here for more information.) Currently, the series display is not complete across the website, and therefore series information may be repeated in the title field; this is optional. Again, please do not remove series data from the title field if it has already been added!

Place the series information in parentheses after the title and any subtitle or transliteration. If the book is numbered in the series, place the number after the series name with the # symbol in front of it. (Use the same conventions for series numbering in titles as is used in the series object.) Previous conventions used a comma after the series name and before the number; this is also acceptable. If formatted in this fashion, the parenthetical part of the title will be replaced by the actual series object's name and number on the book page as a link to the series.

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 198 comments I like to add the series data in the field so that it series number shows in the shelves in "my books"...otherwise, I have to visit the book page to see it.
