Rainy days are great for readathons.

Very good - on the audio books you will have to look up the table on contents with pagination on line for whatever book you are listening to and make note of what chapter you are beginning to listen to and that page number and what chapter you are ending on and that page number - so that you can compute pages read. I am doing some audios myself and that is what I have to do.

We welcome you from Canada.

I will be joining you from Denver, Colorado (MDT). It is supposed to be a beautiful Spring day here in the 70's so I may be doing a lot of reading on my deck. I have a couple of books stacked up to read.

Well good for you - I hope your deck reading is happy and fruitful. Like Lisa See - I was featured in the forward of one of her editions along with a few folks I knew at the time for helping with some perspectives on Shanghai Girls I believe it was.

Bentley, thank you for your comment about Lisa See. She is one of my favorite authors and I try to never miss her at the Tattered Cover Bookstore book signings.

Vicki, I'm glad that you have joined us from Oakland - the Bay Area is one of my favorite places ever!!!

Yes, she is a good writer and her background lends itself to the subject matter she chooses.

Yeah, well Turkey decided to stay on summer time year round, so while we still fit into EEST in the summer, in the winter, we're AST, so...

message 19: by Debye (new)

Debye | 36 comments Hi! Checking from sunny/warm San Antonio. :-) Unfortunately I will be at work for some of the time, but I plan to read at least 1 book, maybe two.
What Is History? by Edward Hallett Carr
The Book Thieves The Nazi Looting of Europe's Libraries and the Race to Return a Literary Inheritance by Anders Rydell
I see an all night reading session in my future...

message 20: by Debye (new)

Hello Debye - glad to see your plans. And I wish I was in sunny/warm San Antonio. Where I am it is cold, overcast, and nasty.

Make sure when you check in that the time for that check in matches your local time and that you are in the right Check In spot.

Here is how the citations should be done - we add the book cover, the word by, the author's photo when available and the author's link which is the author's name in linkable text. You did a great job with the book covers but missed the other parts. Your second book did not have a photo of the author on goodreads so we add (no photo) at the end.

What Is History? by Edward Hallett Carr by Edward Hallett Carr Edward Hallett Carr

The Book Thieves The Nazi Looting of Europe's Libraries and the Race to Return a Literary Inheritance by Anders Rydell by Anders Rydell (no photo)

If you need any other assistance - a good source is the Help Desk Folder and the Mechanics of the Board thread.

You are an excellent fortune teller (smile) - stock up on bottled water, and drinks - healthy snack food and make sure you have good lighting (smile)

You will get it - you can practice it during the readathon - it will come eventually and then you will wonder what you thought was so hard about it.

message 23: by Debye (new)

Debye | 36 comments Thanks for the help Bentley. I will practice!

You are welcome - you will get there - we do not expect perfection right out of the gate but as long as you are trying - I would practice with your message 20 here and see if you can get yours to mirror mine. That would be a great first start.

message 25: by Skeetor (new)

Skeetor Hello, all!

I will be checking in from Elizabeth City, North Carolina - Eastern Standard Time in the United States of America.

Thank you for setting this all up, Bentley!

That is wonderful Kim E. - Make sure that you check in on the appropriate check in thread which matches your timeframe and look at the template and use that as a base and things will be easier.
