Rachel Walling shows up at the crime scene. Were you surprised that they'd interact so soon after Echo Park? Did you get a sense of her feelings towards Harry professionally?

I was pleased to see Rachel's character and thought her interaction with Harry was appropriate given the circumstances from the previous books.

Rachel has a dilemma on her hands her. On the one hand, she is an FBI agent working her way back into the bureau's good graces, but on the other, she trusts Harry's instincts despite her concerns over his recklessness. She made the right choices in the end.

There's is an interesting relationship for the reasons you outline. I still have mixed feelings about her but understand her position and decisions. She made good choices in this one.

I think Rachel is very concerned about Bosch's investigation style. He is very reckless in his approach to some of the cases. I'd be concerned too.
