Suggested
break down of reading so that you can check in and let us know how you're doing. The following breakdown is purely a suggestion and is therefore not set in stone.Rather than putting dates for each section I've done it so that it takes into account that not everybody will necessarily have the book at the same time.
Week 1: 121.25
Week 2: 121.25
Week 3: 121.25
Week 4: 121.25
Am I allowed to participate in this buddy read? I am just starting to get the hang of this web site. Lol If not, no worries.
1) Reading this online and it has 279 pages so we'll see how fast I can get done2) Welcome Lavender!! That's up to the moderator (she's pretty cool). I've only been here for 4 months, so you're not alone :)
3) Simon is my favorite character already (and I'm only on page 4)

Of course you can! I will add you to the list of participants!

Thanks for the compliment, Kyla! It is great to be called cool at 62! ;)
I was super excited when I saw that Buddy read, I was sure I had this book on my to-read list for April... until I noticed it was City of Stairs and not City of Bones.Too many cities... too many books.... should I add something else to my list?!?!
SarahP wrote: "Too many cities... too many books.... should I add something else to my list?!?!"The answer to that question is always yes. =P

There's several "underdog" moments to this book in the beginning. I think that's why I like Simon too. They do not give that boy enough credit!
I really enjoy Simon as well. He has moments where he's the voice of reason, but he still has funny moments as well. I think he's a good friend to Clary.
Deborah wrote: "please add me to the list of participants"Hi, Deborah! You are already on the list! As a matter of fact, you are the first one in the list! :)
This thread got started with your post in the Buddy Reads Intro thread and lots of people have joined since then! Looks like you will have a great group for discussion!
How far is everyone else? I finished chapter 1 yesterday and haven't read it since, but kinda want to get a general feel of how fast everyone else is reading it.
Kyla wrote: "How far is everyone else? I finished chapter 1 yesterday and haven't read it since, but kinda want to get a general feel of how fast everyone else is reading it."I haven't even started yet. I had to finish the library books that were due back first! I'll be starting tomorrow.
I usually just read on the weekends. I work a lot, but if everyone seems to be reading faster, I'll try to keep up
There are a few of us who are not reading but jumping in the conversation with everyone else so you can definitely read at your own pace! :)

Cool!
I just finished Part 1 (chapter 9). It took me a few chapters to really get into it but the story has me interested now. So far, it does seem fairly predictable. The big "twists" that have happened so far didn't seem too twisty as the story hints at them a lot. It's a fun, light read. I have a feeling in Part 2 it will get to the point that I can't put it down, OR it will fail miserably to keep me interested. I hope it's the former.

Hi I have been thinking about reading them too. However they seem very simple and not only that I read a few things that mention plagiarism in regards to the author so I am on the fence . Any thoughts or input would be appreciated
I agree that it is a bit slow getting into. Things do start picking up speed so hopefully it'll be enough to hook you in part two!
I've only gotten a couple pages into the 2nd chapter :( I'm definitely not going to finish before the month is over. It wasn't right for me right now, but I'll be back once I can devote more time to it ;) I actually plan to read some today just to see.
I about in the same boat, but I do want to read it with people. Lol. It's always more fun that way 😊
