Pick For Me challenge
She said SAD! Maybe the journey? Don't know. I usually read two sad books a year, though every once in a while it wasn't on purpose.

How is it that you haven't read It Ends With Us???"
Cause I'm a chicken when I saw all the sad book warnings and the ugly crying in my update feed. I keep meaning to read it but never take it off the shelf.
I'm in. If I can figure out how this works. I created a new shelf called pick for me, and I now am adding books. How do I tell which book was picked based on a person's opinion? How do they know it's their pick?
Michelle, just post a link to your new shelf here on this discussion. On April 1st, I'll do a random drawing and list who is picking for whom. It will be a list in that first post.
The person will look through your shelf and decide which of your books you should read. They'll post their selection here for you to see.
When you finish reading the book, just come back and tell us if you liked it. :-)
Nothing to it.
Robin, I don't see a Pick For Me shelf in your GR book shelves. Did you call it something else? The link you posted takes me to your general bookshelves with ALL your books in there. You'll need to pick 20ish books for our challenge shelf if you haven't already done so.

OK let's see if this link thingy will work. Here's my pick for me shelf:https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Alright, I'm adding a "starter" list on the first post of this discussion. It includes everyone who has linked a shelf so far. Still plenty of time. Drawing will be April 1st. :-)
Okay, so if you have a book in a series, I'm going to assume you're reading that series, and just haven't gotten around to that one. Right?
Yup, that would make sense Michelle. If someone adds a book to this shelf, it's because they want to read it next. ;-)
Yes Michelle. I've got some on my shelf where I've started a series but never got around to reading the next one.
Fabi, I'm game for doing 1 pick for me each month. :)Anna & Tessa, I hate sad/depressing books, I can't deal with them. I'm a giant wuss. I loved It Ends With Us. It has emotional parts and yes, you will most likely cry at those parts, but its not a book to fear, I promise.
I can handle emotional parts rather often. This book has emotional parts, but honestly, emotional parts rarely make me cry. I always wait and hold out hope.
That's the hardest part Amy. I ended up picking about half old and half new. Then I made sure I had a small variety of genres I like to read in there. That way, no matter what, I'll get a surprise pick. :-)

I cry very easily. Hallmark commercials make me cry. So do Folger's coffee commercials around Christmas.
That's me too Anna. I'm constantly trying NOT to cry so I definitely don't want a story that's going to MAKE me cry. Hell, I cry during marriage proposals in our romance novels. :-/

Folger's used to have the best holiday commercials.

When I read It Ends With Us I will probably ugly snot rocket cry my face will turn bright red and puffy. I will look terrifying so I'm scared to read it but I want to.

I like the original from the 80s. It ran for years. Peter's home.
But people made the re make gross. I never saw it that way. Ick.

I looked it up, R is talking about the Taster Choice commercials. I forgot all about those, lol. Yes.
bev wrote: "I looked it up, R is talking about the Taster Choice commercials. I forgot all about those, lol. Yes."Oh the romance soap opera like ones. I forgot about those too.
The Peter's home one made me cry.
I'm so glad I have crier friends....so do you guys cry when they sing the National Anthem too...and when people win on game shows? No....just me??? I cry at the stupidest things...and don't EVEN get me started on those Sarah MacLachlan animal abuse commercials. Where are my tissues?
My eyes do mist up at commercials, National Anthem and things like that, but I very rarely cry with books for some reason. I know it's a real tear-jerker if I cry. The 'C' book that shall not be named made me bawl. My guys were worried about me because I couldn't stop!
I cry every time i see one of those pet commercials! It's that haunting song.I rarely cry in books. Last time was for Into This River I Drown. My throat ached during that one.
I noticed that a couple of you have The Opposite of Me on your Pick for Me list. If you're doing the BR, that pick will be gone before that challenge gets started. It'd work great as a fave for Maryse on Leslie's challenge list, though. Just thought I'd mention it!Here's my list...FINALLY! After spending the entire day yesterday looking through my 'to read' shelf, I've discovered several things:
1) There are a huge amount of books on GR that were announced around 2010-2012 that have never been published.
2) I have a crapload of books on my shelves that need to be marked 'read' and rated.
3) I have a shitTON of books that I put on my shelf from 2010-2013 that ended up being bombs, and really, I have NO idea why I ever shelved most of them in the first place! lol
Ugh--my link won't work!
OK, I give up. How do you get your like to work where you paste the long URL and then you make it a clicky link that reads 'Pick For Me'.I used to know how to do it, but the clicky 'Pick for Me' link keeps linking to my home page.
Michelle wrote: "https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...did that work?"
OMG YOU MUST READ AN EXALTATION OF LARKS AND WHISPERS AND ROARS!!!!!!!
I know how to do this:https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
But I want to make it look/be labeled like you did, Fabi. I used to do it all the time, but I'm having a brain fart and can't get it to work. Can you explain how to do it??

JAN NIGHT OWL!!!!!!!!!!!
Nay, your posts always make me chuckle. I think most of us do a lot of head scratching while reviewing our shelves.Whats funny is recently you said you were cleaning up your TBR and I noticed you have actually been ADDING to your TBR like a one-click ninja. Hee hee

But I don't cry at the drop of a hat or commercial! I did cry like a baby at the end of The fast and furious 7...Tribute to Paul Walker....I feel like crying just thinking about it!
