Tessa | 1761 comments Oooh, Fabi might be right. I get the spoilers too. That's why I don't get any emails from GR for notifications now.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments LOL your spoiler Tessa. That's what I would have thought too.

message 903: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Right? :D

message 904: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't paid attention, I always look at your spoilers. I probably should stop doing that.

Are we going to have to all SPOILER the next email contains a spoiler.

Huh I never thought of that! I just assumed it was a GR issue. It's not a big deal for me anymore because I'm so used to it when I see an email come in I just click on the link and ignore the text. But when I'm really into a book I will even sometimes avoid the thread all together because just knowing if someone liked it or not is kind of a spoiler.

How, based on taste?

Ok, I won't shout BUT YOU SHOULD MAYBE GIVE IAD A TRY?

message 908: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Sometimes. And if I'm really liking something and I see someone doesn't end up liking it I start subconsciously looking for reasons why. I can't help it! And I'll just assume the ending sucks or something. I read a book a while back and someone made a totally innocent comment like, "oh just wait, you haven't seen nothing yet," so for the rest of the book I was super excited about some big thing happening and nothing ever did! I was totally disappointed. I know. I'm weird.

I'm like you Robin. If I'm reading or want to read a book, even knowing friend's star ratings can affect my enjoyment.

I can be happily thinking I'm reading a five star book, then I see two or three friends have 3 starred it and all of a sudden I'm hyper analyzing the story looking for flaws.

message 912: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Okay, everyone go read Franco by Kim Holden. That is all.

Robin, that isnt weird at all. I am same way.

message 914: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Fabi, yes....friends ratings can def influence me like you said OR put tons of pressure on me to feel like I should like it.

Ela, don't worry, I promise to try IAD. I have it on my PNR list. I am not giving up on PNR just yet.

Re: the spoilers in email thing. I just went back in my trash email and the spoilers were visible!!!! That is stupid. I have gmail

I think I better read Bright Side and Gus first :) I saw this one come through in my Bargain Booksy email though!!!

message 916: by [deleted user] (new)

Just saw a couple browsing and picking out a romance book together.
Too freaking sweet.

message 917: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Lisa, you totally can read Bright Side and Gus first, though it's not needed. Well, unless you plan to read Bright Side. Warning, Bright Side contains a LOT of tears.

Awww Bev, that's romantic.

Mine is GMail too

message 921: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Yep, mine's gmail too.

Totally off subject here......my book challenge is showing I read 43 books, but I only read 42!! (I know, I'm anal!) So I went through the books I read and it somehow marked Cheater as being read 2 Times. I did not read this book twice and it won't let me edit it. It's not even showing up as two different sets of dates. Does anyone know how to change it? Or do I have to delete my entire review and redo it just to make it say I only read it once because I am so anal that it is saying a read one more book than I really did! WTF! It's driving me crazy and I've been obsessing over it for the last hour!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Jean if you edit your review do you see the read dates below it? If so, you can just delete one set of them.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Emails, i have mine set to send me "individual emails" on this discussion. Not sure if it's that one or a more global setting control the content of the emails I receive.

message 924: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments That happens to me all the time now! But I'd rather deal with it and have re-reads count than go back to the way it was.

message 925: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Fabi wrote: "Jean if you edit your review do you see the read dates below it? If so, you can just delete one set of them."

That's the problem Fabi, it's not even showing two sets of dates......Ugh! I give up for now!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments When you first write your review or rate a read you can see a dates read section if you scroll down below the review text window. Just x (delete) any set of dates or blank date fields other than your one set of read dates.

There's only one set of dates...and now I'm frustrated...

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Go to your book shelves and use the find duplicates tool. You have the book marked as read in more than one version.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments You "may" have the book....

message 930: by [deleted user] (new)

Fabi *mind blown*

You can do that?

message 931: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Jean wrote: "Fabi wrote: "When you first write your review or rate a read you can see a dates read section if you scroll down below the review text window. Just x (delete) any set of dates or blank date fields ..."

I had to email support for GR last month at 3am and they responded really quickly fixing my issue. You might want to shoot them an email. If you click on your profile pick (top right corner), then help, there's a contact us link on the left.

message 932: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments I tried the duplicates Fabi.....nothing!

Thanks Robin! That's what I'm going to do because I just deleted Cheater from my books read and re-entered everything. Nothing changed. It is still showing that I read 43 books even though I am currently reading my 43rd book of the year.

message 933: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments I had to "reads" of Wild Abandon and I tried fixing it before I knew how and deleted both of them, including my review. I was so bummed :(

message 934: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Okay, I just emailed GR. Let's see if I get a response.

*sniffle* So, pity party table for one. I fell down my stairs this morning. You guys know I have back issues. Well, this morning on my way out the door, I had my hands full and about halfway down my staircase, my leg gave out and down I tumbled... *gah*, I scared my children, my mother - who comes to take my kids to school... the dog, who freaked and came to make sure I was ok. (NOT ok...) *cry* Last day before spring break and THIS happens. So mad. I have a wedding tomorrow! Supposed to be wearing a sleeveless dress, and my arm is all bruised and scraped up, as is my leg... my back is a mess...

message 938: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Awwww Grey, that sucks! I hope you feel better!

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
I feel like a moron is how I feel at the moment. I can't wait to explain this to all the family. Yep, I fell down the stairs. *Insert my older brothers elevated eyebrows here* Oh, you *fell down the stairs*, that's convenient... as they start looking for a place to bury my husband's body... *facepalm*....

message 940: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments OMG Grey! That's terrible. I wore my hooker shoes to the grocery store today and face planted after I slipped on a piece of broccoli. No scrapes or bruises though.

Just blame Amy's virtual martinis!

message 941: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
Damn Broccoli... never trusted those little trees...

message 942: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Aww Grey, that sucks. As for your brothers, at least your Mom can defend your husband and say, yep, she tripped. Did you break or sprain anything? That must've hurt big time. *hugs*

message 943: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Best face plant ever moment for me happened in a Vegas casino. About four in the morning, walking down the steps from one of the lounges, dressed like a freaking hooker compared to all the old people wearing sweatsuits. I had on a tight sweater dress and 4 inch fuck me pumps. Lost my balance and grabbed the rail, thinking I had saved myself. But noooo!!! I pretty much flipped over the railing, shoes flying in different directions. Thank god I had on that tight dress, or I would have shown everyone my meatcurtains (see Ela, I found a way to use that). So what's a girl to do? I yelled at my friend "what the hell did you push me for" and crawled off to find my shoes. Wasn't even drunk. So see, Grey...it could be worse. I hope you feel better soon.

message 944: by Amy (new)

Amy (amy_nm) | 140 comments Oh Grey, that's awful!! I can so sympathize as I am a complete klutz. Falling down in public (and literally showing my ass at times) is a regular thing for me.

I hope your bruises aren't TOO bad for the wedding and that you have a blast tomorrow!

message 945: by Amy (new)

Amy (amy_nm) | 140 comments My virtual martinis had nothin' to do with it this time...it was my klutz vibes!!

Now, give it a few hours until I'm off work and THEN it's on with the martinis. ;)

You blamed your friends?

message 947: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments LOL Lisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 948: by [deleted user] (new)

Also stop walking around in "hooker" and/or "fuck me heels".
As the name implies that is not what they are for.

message 949: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Well of course I blamed my friend...otherwise I would have looked like the klutz I am. This way I just look like I had sucky friends!

Does my pride count? LOL. Well, I buggered up my back - again. I have ongoing issues with it, so it is something that flares frequently and something like this will probably put me back into PT for a while. I did something to my elbow. I whacked it on the wall (cement) on my way down, I'm sure it's nothing but bruised, but yowch. I landed on my right side at the bottom of the stairs. I just kind of hurt all over, you know? And yes, my Mom will totally corroborate what really happened, it's just like... ugh, why today of all days.
