There are sooooooo many books I want to re-read, but who the heck has the time with all these new releases?!??!!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments There are so many new books, as well as the huge tbr pile, that I'm not willing to give stories much leeway. They have to engage me quick or I'm moving on. Around the 30% mark is about my limit nowadays. If I get further than that on a book I'm not enjoying I'm already pissed off.

I think it's gluttony.

Tessa | 1761 comments I just finished True Love Story recently. I don't remember cheating. I remember the H needed to be punched, but not cheating.

Did we read the same book???? (view spoiler)

I think I spied a few cheating books on your TBR. Most love triangles (which I love) also have cheating

message 857: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I had forgotten about that in TLS too. I was just reading the review I gave it all those years ago and was reminded how much it got on my nerves that Ian called her 'little bird' soooo much! But I did love the book!

message 859: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Ugh, I accidentally saw your spoilers in my email messages on TLS...whoops.

Yes Leslie, I will read cheater books, but I don't have to like them. Loll! But sometimes I love them, stomach pains and all!

message 860: by [deleted user] (new)

I hate books that juat skim the surface, when there is no depth. Insta love can sometimes work for me, but usually I just roll my eyes. If there is great chemistry and banter? Yes. If its just repetitive "he's hot, she's hot", then no.
Kulti I adored. Nothing about skimming here. I loved Sal and her family. I loved the look at the life of a pro soocer player. I could feel the blood and sweat she put into it.
I didn't like TBH as much but liked it. I never found it boring.

I could name books I found to be shallow, and rolled my eyes over their "true wuv", found repetitive, and boring, but ive probably named them all before.

Let me read Thoughtless and see if I have a new one to add to tbe list. ;)

message 861: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments bev, I'm really curious to see what you think of Thoughtless.

message 862: by [deleted user] (new)

You know I might love it. I bought it with that intention. I will read it this month. It will be my everyone read it book and I believe one of Tasha's favorites for Leslie's challenge.

message 863: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Jean, hows consequences?

message 864: by Amy (new)

Amy (amy_nm) | 140 comments I accidentally read spoilers for TLS, and for once I was glad I read a spoiler. I would have been one pissed off harpy.

Okay, my cheating standards...in BOOKS. Always and only in books:
A) If the H cheats for whatever reason and it's the h's POV...I hate him and he's dead to me. If she takes him back, she's TSTL and she's dead to me as well. And I'll stop reading at that point.
B) If the H cheats and it's in the H's POV...whatever. I probably wasn't feeling much emotion to begin with anyway.
C) If the h cheats and it's in the H's POV...see reaction in B.
D) If the h cheats and it's in the h's POV...WOO-HOO!!!! Bring on the angst!!

What can I say? My book moral compass is skewed. ;)

message 865: by Amy (new)

Amy (amy_nm) | 140 comments Arsen...oh my. It set a standard which will make it virtually impossible for any other similar book to match.

Remember Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? Why can't someone come up with something like that so we can wipe certain books from our brains and then get to experience them all over again???

message 866: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments So many comments to catch up on! Did I really see that Leslie didn't like Fallen Crest! GASP! New one out on April 17th!!! Can't wait!

message 867: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I haven' read a single one of the Fallen Crest books, but from looking at y'all's ratings/reviews, I think more of you have read AND love these books on the whole than most anything I've looked at. Guess that means I'll be reading these too! lol

I always stayed away because it was a 'series about kids in high school', but it looks like they're about the furthest thing from YA you can get.

message 868: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
Omg Nay... If you put Fallen Crest on your list and I get picked as your picker... Make no mistake... LOL!

Leslie | 2430 comments Paula wrote: "So many comments to catch up on! Did I really see that Leslie didn't like Fallen Crest! GASP! New one out on April 17th!!! Can't wait!"

I KNOW Paula! I was so bummed reading it because every single person loves it. :(

message 870: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments Love love love Fallen Crest, well anything Tijan really - she is an instant 1-click for me!
Leslie - did you try more than one? If not you need to give it a good try and read at least another one.

message 871: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments I am willing to try author again, in fact I have Carter Reed (Carter Reed, #1) by Tijan on my TBR challenge...but as far as Fallen Crest...not for me. :(

message 872: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) OK, so I took Blood Vow off my pick-for-me list since I'm going to start that today after I read these last few pages of The Beast, and I added Fallen Crest High. I checked and I've never read a single Tijan book.

I also added 'Animal' by Marni Mann because from what I'm seeing, 'Prisoned' is kind of 'meh' and it doesn't need to be read first??

message 873: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments Yay Nay!!! Hope I get to pick for you next month!! Fallen Crest would be heading your way!!

message 874: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Unless she just hasn't rated it, I see Ela hasn't read it either. I can't believe that!

message 875: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Yes I have it on my TBR but it just doesn't appeal to me *shrugs*

message 876: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Amy, I guess I have similar feelings as you with the cheating thing. I want it to be the h that is doing the cheating. God, that sounds awful! However, I dont have the issue you do with male POV. I love male povs...I mean, I prefer dual POVs.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Cool Leslie. You're halfway between Amy and I. You can be the translator. :-). I'm Amy reversed with CR romance. I can handle H cheating but never the h. I always prefer male pov. And, of course I don't want to read any book that might make me cry.

Then Amy and I match up tastes perfectly with YA mind twisty, nail chewing plots.

I'm thinking that reading tastes are as individual as each person. We can all match up sometimes, but not likely all the time.

Then, there comes a book that transcends tastes and everyone loves it. I think that's what we all scream about when we find one we love. Then we wait to see if others find it as amazing as we did.

I didn't think redemption would be possible either, Jean...but, you just MIGHT change your mind (if you don't listen to Ela)!!!

message 879: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Fabi, you make me laugh! :)

Lisa and Jean, I think the whole Consequences thing for me was that I got so into Claire's head that I felt what she felt...you know? Does that ever happen to you with a MC that you love? So if Claire hated/loved etc. Tony, I mirrored those same feelings. I really, really got into this story and cried a lot too. Something about it sucked me in.

I always see myself as the female character, so it's easy to get lost in it!! When (view spoiler)

message 881: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I almost always see myself as the female character too (or get into their head or whatever), Lisa and Leslie.

message 882: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Yup, and when I don't connect with the MCs...its book fail for me. It doesnt mean anything wrong with story or authors writing, its that it didnt click with ME.

But man, when you guys read my faves and it doesnt click with you it makes me sad.

I feel your pain about someone not loving a book you loved - it's almost like that feeling of getting picked last for the team in grade school all over again!!! I still don't get how everyone in the world didn't adore Wolfsong and it hurts my feelings and I want nothing more than to explain to them why they are just wrong!!

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! YOU SHOULD TELL EVERYONE WHY THEY ARE WRONG AND SHOULD LOVE WOLFSONG!

message 886: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I think I'm the odd wo(man) out, I don't need to connect with the h to love the story as long as I connect with the characters and they're feelings etc...I don't need to have that one "special connection". Now that I think more about it TOOY, I didn't really connect with anyone, truly...

message 887: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I don't always, but I think I love some of them a little more if I do have a bit of a connection. It's obviously different for every book.

You summed the two of us up perfectly, my friend. ;)

message 889: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Damn, I have to stop reading your comments in my emails because it showed me Lisa's spoiler....so far, I really don't like Tony and I'm thinking Claire is an idiot!

message 890: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments My issue with Wolfsong was the genre. You all know how bad I struggle with PNR (not m/m, I love m/m), and I think shifters esp are not my thing. I was enjoying the beginning of Wolfsong and then it got all wolfie and it lost me. I tried so hard to like it and I couldn't. You just cant force these things no matter how many shouty capitals Ela throws out. ;)

message 891: by Jean (new)

That keeps happening to me too! I see SoT and just delete! GR really needs to fix that! They don't give you any information when someone comments on a review, why do they here!? Just give me a link!

When we get email notifications, there isn't a spoiler tag in the email.

message 896: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Wtf Goodreads? !?

Why would it do that???

Well, I suggest you dont do email alerts anymore and just do Goodreads notifications instead. That's how I do it.

message 897: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments But I need to get them by email because I'm not always directly on GR to see the notifications......

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments That's really screwed up with the spoilers Jean and Robin. When comments contain spoilers, in my emails I simply get the text word "spoiler". I don't get the clickable link for it, but neither do I get the actual spoiler text.

I wonder if it has to do with the email client you're using or the settings you have on it?

Not me. I empathize, but I am not the character. (That'd just make the girl crush on Sam weird.) in fact, (view spoiler)

message 900: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Oh, and the spoiler thing is why I don't bother with the email. I just go to GR and the little bell notifies me when there is something new. So much better than dealing with emails and getting a spoiler.
