Um, I'm one of those who didn't hate Keira. *snicker*

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments thanks for all of your reactions to Slade. I only thought I felt shallow before. hahahaha

I totally agree with that, and I've liked several h's who've made conscious stupid decisions that hurt their H. IDK what it was about this one. Maybe because I didn't get her reasoning? When I look at the difference between Kiera and the other h's I was able to justify, I think the others were driven by tragedy in some way. And in one book in particular the remorse was so tangible I sided with the cheater over the cheatee. I didn't feel the remorse from Kiera. But, I also didn't move on to book two so maybe that's why.

message 805: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments I liked Kiera! She was dumb and made horrible mistakes, but honestly, that was the appeal. She changed by the third book. I've said before I like the second and third book more than the first. I love their growth and how they mature.

That said... So... Jean... Is Tony a douche or what?

message 806: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Yep, total douche! I can't imagine how he will redeem himself (if he redeems himself)!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Robin wrote: "And in one book in particular the remorse was so tangible I sided with the cheater over the cheatee."

Never! No forgiveness possible for this one. I don't even mind cheating in my romance books. But in this one? Nope. Never.

I'm with Robin...I read Thoughtless but I never went any further with the series....

Leslie | 2430 comments As far as Thoughtless series....if you didn't read past book 1 then you dont get to see any of the character growth. But, if story isnt thrilling you then of course you're not interested in continuing. I feel like Keira, Kellan & Denny come a long way by the end. And if you read Griffins story you get a glimpse of them!!

Robin is absolutely correct. These awesome authors create fascinating characters for us to love and love-to-hate.

This spoiler is safe for you because you've read it. (view spoiler).

message 823: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Oh sh!t, I never read book 2.......

message 824: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Its funny how we all have different things that make us ragey. A lot of times the characters others find TSTL, I find fascinating. I enjoy flawed characters. What makes me ragey is:
Boring/repetitive storyline ( The Bronze Horseman (The Bronze Horseman, #1) by Paullina Simons )

OTT HS drama ( Fallen Crest High (Fallen Crest High, #1) by Tijan )

ridiculous plot twists ( Sex Love Repeat by Alessandra Torre )

stupid endings ( Insidious (Tales from the Dark Side, #1) by Aleatha Romig )

too slow burn ( Kulti by Mariana Zapata )

message 825: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellesantiago) | 299 comments The only "Slade" I've read was New Species - and that was totally hot in an insta-love-animalistic-mate kind of PNR book. What other Slade are you all talking about?

message 826: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Jean wrote: "Oh sh!t, I never read book 2......."

message 827: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellesantiago) | 299 comments GASP!!!!! The Bronze Horseman was boring and repetitive to you? OMG. I loved that one so much. It was kind of SLOW - okay, okay - WWII in Leningrad ain't a hoppin' good time. But it was so well written. Achingly beautiful.

I agree on the others, but I loved Kulti because I love soccer, so I was okay with that. And I'm German and she called him bratwurst, so I was into it.

lol And this is how we are opposites. I ADORE a slow burn and OTT HS drama, especially if they are dark. I agree on stupid endings. I've gone from 4 star to one or two based soley on the ending. There's a series I adore that had a huge secret about the H and when it was finally was revealed I was like, really? That's the big deal? It actually made the last books not as high of a score.

About Bronze Horseman... that's why I haven't wanted to really read it. I'm scared it'll be boring and repetitive.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Jean wrote: "Oh sh!t, I never read book 2......."
Me either Jean. I was too pissed at the MC from book 1. :/

Slade from The Walk of Shame series.

You know I loved Kulti too. Hard

But I've never been able to make myself read The Bronze Horseman

message 832: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments My two biggest rages:

The secondary characters are flat. Third and fourth, maybe even the villain if it's someone who they don't really know or get to know. (Even an evil parent or sibling because growing up with them torturing them, you never really learn the good or complexities that make them evil) If the character doesn't know them well, they can be two dimensional, because that's how the character sees them. NOT SECONDARY CHARACTERS! You know your best friend, your favorite sister, loving parents. You see them as more than just one thing.

That said, in reverse, don't give me the whole story of some throw away guy.... *I'm looking at you, Wheel of Time series* Why do I care what his whole life, ambition, love, tortures, and backstory are when he's just in the story to die? WHY??? Even other books, you meet someone, you really get to know them for three chapters, then they disappear or die, Why did I have to know the person. They are dead now. They moved to a new city with a better job. THEY ARE POINTLESS! 2d the crap out of those people and stop wasting my time.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments For me cheating in a romance novel is all about the situation.

They broke up. OK
Open relationship. Ok
Drunk and pissed off one night stand. Maybe
They're in a huge, non-speaking, long term fight, maybe.
One loves the other with all his/her being but is cheated on? No! Common courtesy says break up first.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Never from me Leslie. There are way too many books I like that many of you do not. I'm ok with it. Sometimes I wonder if I'm only a fake romance reader. hahahaha

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments I'm always shocked when someone likes a book I like - like Wolfsong.

Slade Slade (Walk of Shame, #1) by Victoria Ashley

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments btw Leslie I've only read 2 of the ones you listed.

message 842: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I agree with you, Ela--I also love cheating books when the two people are destined to be together in the end. And I especially LOVE all the angst that comes with it! Of course it sucks that others get hurt, but if the book/series is well fleshed out, the person who gets cheated on will end up being much better off in the long run. Who wants to be with someone they're not destined to be with?

Like Ela said--it's book life!

message 843: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Leslie, why would I hit you silly? It's just proof we are all different. Besides, by hating Fallen Crest, you've lowered the amount of people after my Mason by one. :P And a lot of people don't like slow burn. *shrugs* I do if done right. :D

Jean | 1658 comments Ummmm.....I haven't read True Love Story yet. I've had it for so long too. But, does that mean there's cheating?? ugh
